Well for me this is my first look at Cumberland hospital since I was born there, and that was 1968. I'm wondering if I should be proud of that after seeing some of these reviews

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The front desk clerks on the 3rd floor are rude and display no professionalism whatsoever. Today my appointment was cancelled unbeknowns to me, I received no email, no text message and there was no indication of the cancellation in my chart. Instead of them apologising, which we do all the time when mistakes arise - I work in a hospital, they proceeded to ask me for my insurance card, which they already had a copy of; ok so I give it to her. Then she says you have to speak to finance - mind you without the possibility of seeing a doctor today; I said why do I have to speak to finance? She because your insurance is combined. I said you know actually let me speak with finance, as you do not understand it. Right away she says oh you have that plan and all of a sudden, I did not have to speak with finance. Anyway, I spoke with the manager, who got me another appointment at an earlier date. Lets see what happens then. I am so annoyed.

I was basically born in this hospital. But over the years, there were different changes within the hospital. I wouldn't know how it is now as far as the hospitality service, because I haven't been there in years.

I had a visit with pediatrician Dr.Roye today 11/19/2022 and the visit was ok but the nurse was on her phone from the mommy I got there until I leave and her voice wasn t in hush tome. My daughter was extremely scared of getting her shot so she took her Small stuff toy with her and the nurse was obviously annoyed that she had it. The entire time we we re in the office she was on her phone chatting away. She was very stern and show no empathy to my daughter who was very scared. My daughter told her she was scared and she showed no concern or tried to allay her anxiety. I m a nurse and I would never be this way to one of my patients especially a scared kid. When she was finished giving her the shot, she said nothing she was still engaging the person on the other side of the phone conversation. I asked if that was it she nodded her head without even turning around. This nurse has long lock hair. Very unprofessional. I hope when I go back I will have an option but if I have to see her on my next visit,I will definitely change pediatricians. The other nurses I met before was great as well as the PCT.I hope someone see this amd rectify the situation.

Every single time I have lab work, the guy in charge of doing it is so nasty!!! Always watching you tube or on a personal phone call while doing his job. If you ask him any question he would bluntly ignore you. I'm afraid one day he will mix the labels and there will be a huge issue.Overall, my other experiences have been ok.

Horrible!!!! The worst part is that the horrific experiences are reserved for my family members. I never have bad experiences here but when I escort my family members here, I watch in horror as they get treated like dirt. Ignored for other patients, nurses gossiping and cackling instead of taking care of sick patients, clerical understaffing, spaced out doctors (yes they're possibly high) you name it, it is horrible here. The city needs to do something about these horrific city hospitals and clinics that are funded by tax payers but benefit no one except the fat cat higher-ups. Cumberland Clinic & Diagnostic center is the devil's waiting room. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. You've been WARNED.

Fast and friendly Covid booster experience. However, they did not input the record of this shot in the state database, so it s not appearing on the excelsior app. Their medical records receptionist was rude and completely unhelpful. Wish I had gone elsewhere.

I got tested for COVID here in Nov 2020 and it was okay, you had to wait outside but the line moved quickly enough.Today (December 2021) I went again. This time I made an appointment online which I thought would mean less waiting outside. But it did not. The appointments don't matter. There is one line and if it's long you wait.I waited for more than an hour. And the cold made some of my joints stiffen (I have Sjogren's Syndrome which attacks your joints) and I just kept thinking what if I had moa mobility issue or couldn't stand for an hour. Our city's testing shouldn't only be available to people who are able bodied and have free time during the week day.

considering surging cases and new variants spreading, you would expect a decent service. Well... NO: testing during the weekend closes at 12pm!! yes, they operate barely 4 hours and then closes early. Simply disgusting.

Easily the worst experience at a doctors office. Needed a referral. Doctor ignored my request and complaint of pain. Only to tell me to schedule an appointment for blood work and follow up. Both the nurse and front desk refused to do it because it s pass 5. I ve been sitting therr since 3.
