About Gilead Community Services

Since 1968, Gilead Community Services has been helping families and individuals dealing with harrowing substance abuse issues and co-occurring mental illness in Middletown, CT. This center's focus is on assisting recoveries at their own pace. It understands that the path to healing and being drug and alcohol free can be the opposite of straight and narrow. That's why it offers intensive residential and outpatient treatment to adults that span as long as needed.

Although this organization offers residential and outpatient services, the Middletown location specializes in outpatient care. This may be the facility for you if you need outpatient care involving group and individual therapy in a structured environment. Treatment is scheduled three days a week for three-hour sessions.

When enrolled in the intensive outpatient program (IOP) you’ll participate in the substance abuse focused program that helps heal addiction and any co occurring mental health conditions. Depending on your schedule you can attend daytime or evening sessions which allows you convenient flexibility with your treatment and will help you work around work or school obligations.

You might also want to know that this center’s outpatient programs provide psychiatric evaluations, case management, medication management, and specialized gender based groups. In these groups, you could learn about anger management, stress reduction, relapse prevention, and trauma and healing.

In addition, if you only require outpatient services and not intensive outpatient services, you will only attend sessions one to three times a week. During the general outpatient program you can expect access to individual and group therapy along with medication management and relapse prevention groups.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This is probably the worst employer I ever had. There's no sense of privacy or confidentiality of clients' or employees' civil or human rights. Everything about this place is phoney. They talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. All they do is talk and gossip, especially the group homes and social club. Especially Patty the Chatty

Absolutely horrific. Funny that this place has a mission statement of compassionate, individualized care . This place refuses to work with me and doesn t listen to anything that I say. I am disabled and they are now putting additional financial and physical burdens in place to make obtaining my medications absolute Hell. They ve slandered me in my medical records with absolutely ZERO evidence. They want me out of there; I want to get out of there-but now because of a primary diagnosis that Gusfa literally made up out of thin air-I cannot get any other doctor in the entire state of CT to take me as a new patient. Gusfa enjoys making patients lives even more of a nightmare than our lives already are. I ve never felt more suicidal than with every encounter with this place. It should be illegal to enter a diagnosis into a medical record without MEDICAL EVIDENCE. I ve never felt so degraded and disrespected as a human being than at this place: since Dr. Foreman retired.

I have been failed by these people multiple times. Really went down hill after Dr. Forman left. They will tell you, "you don't look autistic",even though you are". Go to Easter seals to get Autism eval, they will help you.

With COVID they seem unwilling or unable to adequately serve their clientelle. My son has no problem getting in touch with his psychiatrist, but trying to get a hold of his therapist is next to impossible. Nobody returns phone calls. Funny thing is the people they are supposed to serve are at high risk.Update ... They continue to provide piss poor service

My mom has been seeing Dr Foreman for at least 10 years and she drives 30 minutes for him even though she's nervous driving. She's always said how nice all of the receptionists are. I left a message yesterday to get an initial appointment but haven't heard back. I'll be calling again tomorrow because I absolutely hate where I am currently. And my mom's the most critical person ever and for her to like this place for over 10 years and STILL have great things to say says A LOT!
