About Georgia Pines

In a quiet corner of Thomasville, Georgia, Georgia Pines offers outpatient behavioral health services. If you have a mental illness, addictive disease (or both), you are welcome at Georgia Pines.

The treatment at Georgia Pines gives you the most freedom as possible. The goal is to help you have independence while keeping your stability.

One thing I like about Georgia Pines is that they have open access. You can walk in to get an hour-long behavioral health assessment without making an appointment. This makes it easier to begin your journey.

Their intensive outpatient services are for those who have a DSM-V diagnosis of a psychoactive substance use disorder. This program is ideal if you’ve tried other programs and not been successful.

Your treatment could include individual, group or family counseling, mental illness education and psychiatric evaluation, job and social skills and addictive disease education.

I've been going here for about 3 years. Some of the therapists and doctors are good, but overall this place is more harmful than helpful. If you have Adult ADHD and NEED a stimulant to focus and survive day to day and don't have a history of medicinal abuse, look elsewhere because they don't care about you here and won't work with you in those regards. They'll roadblock you every chance they get, even if you have a legitimate diagnosis from a psychologist. They'll use excuses ranging from they don't know the provider to they won't accept a diagnosis out of network. If you know of something that works well for you, Georgia Pines will be the first to gaslight you and say that you're wrong and make getting what you need to function difficult. This includes claiming your ADHD is just "frequent mood swings from being depressed" and giving you anti-depressants rather than understanding one of the symptoms of Adult ADHD is mood swings and impulsivity. The people you have to call to in order to get refills or leave messages with doctors are very rude, and at times can make those with mental health conditions worse just from a phone call. At no point do they say "Let me see what I can do to help", but rather, they'd raise their voice at you when explaining your situation. If you're sick and can't come in person for your yearly assessment, you can thank the geniuses who changed the policy to make it so that phone calls are no longer allowed for that. It's clear they haven't learned anything from COVID and it appears they're changing their policy in some forms to reflect that.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
This program offers intense treatment three evenings per week to individuals with a high relapse potential, previous unsuccessful treatment attempts, and those who are motivated to participate in intense treatment while residing at home. Individuals receive group training, individual therapy, community support services, vocational and educational opportunities.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Went months with no calls answered, wouldn't refill meds until down to one pill. And then shut down with no warning. Awful, never go here for mental health help, the counselors were great people but the corporate and medical psychologist awful.

I live with Schizophrenia and also Bipolar II. I have been using services at the Thomasville location for more than 10 yrs. I get Therapy, I see the doctor, & I've attended Wellness Groups. GA Pines is all about recovery and I can say with confidence how VALUABLE GA PINES services are because I am a living example! I have been in recovery since 2013. I have been working here since 2014 in Administration. I have found my niche because I am doing something I know about. Before Recovery I was lost, I felt like I was watching life from the window of a house I could not leave. Therapy has raised my self-esteem, taught me boundaries, helped me overcome feelings of hopelessness & despair. I'm no longer ashamed of my mental illness.

I wouldn t send my dog there for any type of service. They have no customer service skills and the staff is always on vacation. The office manager it at least he stated he was the office manager is no help. He s like a deer looking at head lights. Don t let them have to call the ambulance cause them all the staff outside looking. A freaking joke!!!

Georgia Pines one time was a great program for your family or loved ones. Today it is nothing more than a program that divides the family and encourages less family involvement. Through this technique the case managers mistreat clients, fail to provide adequate care, and will not alert or follow up with family members. You think people don't want to work? There is no possible way case managers in this program could work or care less. Horrible!
