About Genesis House Inc

Genesis House is a residential drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Vallejo, California. They offer treatment and housing to adults with substance use or alcohol use disorder. They also treat people who have mental health conditions and struggle with addiction concurrently.

This company was established in 1972. This facility gives its clients a full lifestyle makeover. They teach clients to live a life of complete abstinence from substances including cigarettes. Smoking and vaping are forbidden on the property.

The unique thing about this company is their three step program. In the first phase, you will tell your story while a therapist listens to you. In phase two you will clarify any psychological or social problems that you have, and the therapist will give you coping mechanisms to deal with those issues. Phase three involves putting what you have learned into action.

Where most rehabs offer behavioral therapy, this facility uses Gestalt therapy. This method teaches people to live in the moment and see life circumstances as they are in the present rather than how their past has taught them to see those experiences. They also use role playing and feedback groups.

The average program lasts about nine months, but it will depend on your personal needs. You will be expected to participate in a vocational training program which will include working. Most clients work on the facility’s gardening crew.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

If you're serious about getting sober, then this is the program for you. I was weak and manipulative and really didn't care about much when I came here in 2013. I will say it forever, I'm almost 9 years sober because of this place. I needed the structure that they provide. I learned tools here that I still apply to my life today. I will always love genesis house. I can get through anything in life and I know that I don't have to use over it. GHOUSE saved me!
