Fantastic experience with surgery and they're absolutely wonderful about managing your anxiety. 5 stars for that. But God forbid you need any pain medication FRESH OUT OF ABDOMINAL SURGERY, they'll act like you're drug seeking when you're still out of your mind with anesthesia and pain and gaslight you as if you aren't feeling what you're feeling. Just contributing to the worst problems with the American medical system. Withholding opioids during the situations they literally exist for is INHUMANE. CEOs could stand to learn a thing or two, if you catch my drift........

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides clients with an opportunity to focus solely on their sobriety away from the stressors of the home and workplace. Clients receive housing, food, and intensive clinical supervision. They also typically engage in multiple addiction counseling sessions each week, including daily individual, group, and/or family sessions. Most programs also prioritize recovery-focused life skills training, including courses in relapse prevention. Many facilities offer evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga and meditation.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs prioritize the recovery journey as a life-long process based on personal spiritual growth and ongoing peer support. Regular attendance at 12 step meetings, which are held multiple times each day in most communities, is expected. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected peer sponsor. The 12 steps are designed to encourage participants' self-compassion, awareness, acceptance, and accountability. Dedicated programs for specialized groups, including seniors, teens, and families, are common.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services bring extensive experience to the planning and conducting of drug interventions in Pennsylvania. These experts can facilitate interventions in a sensitive manner that encourages positive outcomes. The goal of the intervention is to educate the individual about addiction and the consequences of their substance use and encourage them to get the treatment they need. Interventions can be effective with all types of drugs and alcohol addiction.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Because the severity of withdrawal symptoms can fluctuate, constant monitoring under 24-hour clinical care in Pennsylvania is recommended for early recovery. As you undergo detox, medical staff will supervise your health and ensure severe symptoms do not develop or threaten your life. Professional counselors will also be available to treat mental and emotional health needs.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Pennsylvania is an evidence based technique that involves group therapy, individual therapy, and phone coaching. Group sessions focus on learning behavioral skills. Individual therapy gives you the opportunity to apply what you're learning to your personal situations. Phone coaching allows you to call your therapist during the week for help with challenging situations.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Couples therapy in Pennsylvania is typically short term treatment that focuses on building skills that lead to positive long term relationship changes. Sessions with the therapist may occur both jointly and individually.

Family therapy teaches individual family members in Pennsylvania the benefits of collectively combating addiction. Therapists help individual members establish healthy boundaries between themselves and their loved one who is struggling with addiction. This helps improve emotional support systems and creates a bond so families work together to sustain long term recovery.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

They refused to take us seriously regarding the serious health of my sister and refused to contact us to find out about her history. She was here twice and came back worse each time. The nurses are very mean and treated her like a criminal.

I just came home from an emergency appendectomy, I had a great experience from the convenience care to the operating room. I was treated with great care from my surgeon and my nurses on the surgical floor. I was really nervous because I was from out of town and not familiar with the hospital or doctors but I had no need to be. Thank you for the positive experience.

I went there for a possible kidney stone and I asked for something for pain and I am allergic to motrin and the doctor was drilling me about being a drug seeker and I do not even live in Pennsylvania and I felt very undermined and embarrassed cause I am not a addict or drug seeker. I am not a stereotype or a statistic. I had very bad pain and should not have had to of been drilled when I came there for pain. I will never come back there and if my family is ever passing through I will tell them to pass geisenger.

I went late last night for excruciating lower back pain. I've been dealing with this for over 10 years. The past 2 weeks something changed and it got progressively worse and I couldn't take it anymore. Major pressure in left hip and it felt like my left lower back was being torn apart no matter what. I can't even make it up my stairs because my legs want to give out and hurt like hell. I was told their was nothing they could do except take Tylenol and get steroid shots and a pain patch which didn't work the last few times but tried it hoping for any relief. I guess it's funny to them to let someone suffer. They wouldn't even look into it sorry I was a inconvenience! If I could give zero stars I would.

The customer service at the psych unit is very disturbing. I called for visiting hours and just basic info. And they said they weren t allowed to provide the information. How am I supposed to know when to visit? Is it a guessing game. I asked to speak with someone else and it wasn t any better . Definitely concerned for the patients care at this point.

I went to the ER for unexplained vomiting I was having for 3 days. When I went, the doctor ordered a CT scan of my stomach, but being a college student I knew I couldn t afford it and asked if it was necessary to be done. The doctor told me that since it was the ER, I had to do whatever he ordered, and since I was throwing up and severely nauseous I didn t have the energy to fight to refuse treatment. My bill came back to around 16k, and my friends in healthcare told me afterwards I had the right to refuse any treatment that the doctor ordered. I m a college student and I can t afford insane bills like that, and it was extremely unprofessional to lie to me about what my rights are as a patient. Going to the hospital is when you are at your lowest point, and I found it disgusting that I was taken advantage of.

I just delivered my baby and had such a great experience! The midwife and nurses were all great, especially my delivery team. A week later, they even called to check in on how we were doing.
