About Gaudenzia Vantage

Gaudenzia Vantage House is a substance use and co-occurring disorders treatment facility that provides long term residential services for pregnant and parenting women in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Their program is a high intensity residential treatment that incorporates trauma-informed care, culture informed care, and gender responsive support.

Gaudenzia Vantage House provides long term residential treatment, medication assisted treatment, and co-occurring disorder treatment.

The residential program at Gaudenzia Vantage House is a long-term rehab that allows children to accompany their mothers during treatment. This program serves as a safe and structured program that provides substance abuse treatment while allowing parenting to continue. As a gender responsive program, the concerns women face while in recovery are processed by traditional treatment methods such as therapy, classes, and mental health support. Many who suffer from addiction have a co-occurring disorder that needs treatment as well.

Medication assisted treatment provides medications along with comprehensive medical, psychiatric, and behavioral counseling. FDA approved medications are used to support withdrawal from opioid drugs and to help maintain long term abstinence. By combining medication with mental health treatment, a greater chance of success is achieved for long term abstinence.

Dual diagnosis, often referred to as having co-occurring disorders, is when two or more mental health concerns present themselves simultaneously. It is very common for those who struggle with addiction to also have an underlying mental health concern such as anxiety, depression, or a diagnosable psychiatric disorder. Without proper treatment of the mental health issue at hand, getting and staying sober can be difficult. By treating both the substance use disorder and the mental health needs concurrently, a greater chance for long term sobriety is achieved.

Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with addiction. With the help of a professional, individuals are given the space and direction to talk about and process their emotions. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life.

Counselors are beyond rude, they are ignorant to family, they demand that the patient calls if you send too many cards and asks you to stop sending so many because apparently "too much" family support is no good for a place like this

Changed my life. Saved my life. I believe this is the best place to get help. When you are a patient you think it is horrible because they are helping you change people places and things.

I went to this rehab for six months when I was pregnant with my daughter. Yes, some of the staff was rude at times and they tried to put me down and they prioritized other clients before me and those clients that were at their top ranking are now still struggling with addiction, but this did change my life for the better. Now I am going on three years clean this coming June, and they definitely pointed me in the right direction And I was able to work past my trauma and live a healthy happy life.

I used to be at Vantage House. It is the worst experience I've ever had in my life. I cried myself to sleep every night. I wasn't the only one. They should be shut down! They didn't let me breastfeed when I needed. We ran out of milk and they blamed us. Our 3 showers between 35 people were always cold. We went from 7am-10pm in groups, exhausted every day. They made us feel like scum, made us chant, tattle, tore us down and made us fit their mold. They make you memorize ridiculous chants and if you act unhappy you loose the little privileges you have. If you have no privileges they will sleep deprive you. I couldn't talk to my son, husband or case manager. They kept me away from my newborn most of the day. I got in trouble for holding my baby too much. They said I was addicted to my baby. I was there because the courts. I was caught growing 10 marijuana seedlings. They told me I had disease and I would eventually use hard drugs. When I left they said I was going to die. This place is insane! Someone should investigate it! Absolutely horrific!!! And guess what, 15 years later and I still feel the same way. I do nothing but smoke weed. No hard drugs. And wow I didn't die.

I was a client and as hard as it was it changed me and my life for the better. I would recommend any female who wants recovery to go to Vantage and listen to the staff as hard as it can be they speak from years of experience and years of sobriety and only try to help. I learned more about myself while I was there then I ever did. I lost custody of my sons before going and because of the work I did and with the help of Mrs Diane Horton-Lewis I got custody of my son back 5 months after loosing custody. Vantage helped me find me again and gave me my life back. I will forever be grateful.
