About Gaudenzia West Chester House

Gaudenzia - Kindred House is located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Gaudenzia - Kindred House offers a continuum of care to adults dealing with substance abuse and mental health disorders. They provide inpatient treatment and therapeutic communities.

The residential program provides individuals an opportunity to live on site and remove themselves from their home environment in order to focus on recovery. inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab provides clients with an opportunity to focus solely on their sobriety away from the stressors of the home and workplace. Clients receive housing, food, and intensive clinical supervision. They also typically engage in multiple addiction counseling sessions each week, including daily individual, group, and/or family sessions. Most programs also prioritize recovery-focused life skills training, including courses in relapse prevention. Many facilities offer evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga and meditation.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. I don't know why it's taken me so long to review this place but here we go.This place is a trap. They bring people in and take advantage of them. If you are there for some legal reason than they will do everything they can to keep you as long as possible. It's supposed to be a 30-90 day program but there were people there for 4 or 5 months when I was there. They all had similar stories and said if they complained than the director or the counselors would threaten to change the dates in the computer to keep them there longer. The patients are responsible for everything housekeeping except for lunch and dinner. The pots and pans, trash, prep for the meals, cleaning the entirety of the building inside and out, running the meetings, etc. They spend as little money as possible to maximize profits and it's incredibly obvious. The bedding was disgusting and I complained because my super thin comforter had a massive hole in it. They did nothing to remedy the situation. The only food we get is what they could get for free through donations and typically the staff would pick through it first and take all the good stuff and load up their cars, leaving us with half rotten fruit. It had a very survival of the fittest vibe in there, much like jail. The cook was actually pretty decent and made some decent lunches and dinners so I can't say it was all bad.If you are finding a place to check yourself into on your own free will do NOT go here. In fact, only go here if you have absolutely no other options. The way they tell people 30 days and then string them along in that hell hole using threats of forgery to ruin their life just for some extra dollars is honestly legitimately evil. I left there with no more physical habit but I may have been more depressed than before I started.

I take passengers from there as an Uber driver and I hear that it's a house of horrors. I also sensed immediately that the coordinator who arranged the ride was a mean individual. This House needs an auditing and house-CLEANING.

There are barely any counselors. Your daily meetings are led by another patient. Which is an obvious disaster.Men and women are not allowed to speak like it's the 1940s.Getting in to see the doctor is like waiting in line for the first ever iPhone. The staff are heartless psychos who truly seem to thrive on suffering. It's clean. The location is nice. Food isn't terrible.

My loved one told me the place was filthy, holes in the mattress he s supposed to sleep on. You re not allowed to visit for over a week when they first get there. I can kinda understand that. But the status of the facility? They should be shut down.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN This is the absolute WORST facility my loved one had ever been in. I have visit in many places, including jail and never felt so intimidated or unwelcomed by a councilor. The councilor set up a therapy session after driving over an hour to get there she denied the session. My loved ones intake paperwork was not done for over a month after being there. Staff is physically and verbally abusive to residents and thier children. Residence are denied thier rights to visits and phone calls home. There is one therapist for the entire house who treats them worse than they would be treated in prison. No human compassion!!!
