About Frontier Health – Willow Ridge

Frontier Health - Willow Ridge is a residential rehab in Johnson City, Tennessee, that’s part of the Frontier Health network. They serve adult women ages 18 and older who have drug and alcohol addiction and those who have co-occurring mental health conditions.

What’s cool about this rehab is that it’s relatively small with just 19 beds. This way they can give you the personalized and attentive care you need to work through the early stages of recovery and reach a point of stability and growth in your sobriety. They take a multidisciplinary approach that uses a variety of evidence based practices for addiction treatment. Translation: they’ll get you the care you need regardless of what factors are complicating your addiction. They understand that no two addictions are the same, so they treat every client as an individual.

Frontier Health actually has many different facilities in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia with different specialties and levels of care. This is great because they can connect you to other services for different times in your recovery journey, like detox care or outpatient therapy, after your residential program. They also have programs for other issues that are often intertwined with drug and alcohol addiction, like domestic violence and mental health issues.

This treatment center has excellent feedback from clients. This is actually not common because people encounter rehabs at such a challenging time in their lives and not everyone has a positive experience. So it’s not often that I see a rehab with such high respect across the board. Willow Ridge, though, is beloved by the women who have gotten treatment here. They say that the therapists are very dedicated to their clients’ growth and success and that the facility is a welcoming and safe place. In fact, numerous clients credit this rehab with saving their lives.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

The goal of a drug intervention in Tennessee is to encourage a person with a substance use disorder to enter treatment. The process also educates family members about addiction, enabling behaviors, and treatment options. The involvement of intervention services can help with this education and provide guidance for the intervention itself and follow-up care. The professional interventionist will work with the entire family to encourage the best outcomes possible from the intervention.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Every individual who enters treatment receives an evaluation for both substance abuse and a co-occurring mental illness. Individuals who have both conditions, receive specialized goals that deal with and focus on putting both diagnosis into a recovery mode during treatment.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Counseling in Tennessee that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach can last from six to 12 months. During that time, you'll develop skills in the areas of distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Staff is extremely unprofessional and petty. We signed our newly 18-year-old adopted daughter into turning point and advised that she continue treatment at willow. The staff allowed her to maintain her pattern of remaining in the victim role, even after we warned of this pattern at intake. Program director Jenny interjected a call between my husband and daughter, claiming he was bullying her and just talking over us. They are clearly not looking out for her best interests, just seemingly influencing her to leave a loving home to stay in an adult halfway house, which is a clear and obvious safety risk. She is still in high school and at the maturity level of a 14-15 year old. Strongly recommended that you avoid this place.

I have just completed the program at Willow Ridge and have nothing but good things to say! The site director and staff all have their own unique story of addiction and path to recovery. They are such amazing examples of what recovery looks like and what you can achieve no matter what your past looks like. The education and therapy groups here not only helped me realize the areas in my life that needed work, they also gave me the tools to correct them. This program also helps you to get plugged in to an amazing recovery community for when you leave! I would highly recommend this facility for anyone who is looking for help with issues related to addiction.

Willow is definitely my second home! Even after countless relapses I still wanted to pick myself up and to keep trying and they gave me chance after chance after chance. They do this because they love people like me! I remember laying in bed at the very last facility I went to thinking I wish I was at willow instead of here Every single employee there wanted best for me, they never gave up on me, and they loved me whole heartedly! I definitely recommend!

I went through treatment at Willow Ridge multiple times. Through my treatment experience, the leadership changed several times. In spite of the changes, I was always treated with kindness and respect. The staff consistently supported me and pushed me toward a pathway in recovery. Though it took me several try s to be willing to do what was necessary for my own recovery, Willow Ridge staff and leadership always provided me with the best care and support each visit. If you re a woman struggling with alcohol and/or drug abuse and want to heal, Willow Ridge is a wonderful place to start your journey. I am forever grateful that my journey began there!
