Staff is friendly but unprofessional. They have been getting progressively worse with keeping appointments on their end had to reschedule me twice in the past month due to provider issues. It is a constant occurrence that while sitting in the waiting room you can overhear staff gossiping about patients and their medical information coming from reception. Overall poor experience. Accepted Insurance

Frontier Health – Erwin Mental Health Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Every individual who enters treatment receives an evaluation for both substance abuse and a co-occurring mental illness. Individuals who have both conditions, receive specialized goals that deal with and focus on putting both diagnosis into a recovery mode during treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Having worked in Psych for 4 years and currently a nurse I am very disappointed in the services at this facility.PROS:-The new case manager! She is a wealth of information, knows her job role and responsibilities, assures any and ALL needs of her clients are met and or addressed. Is aware of services throughout the community to assist with client needs. ACTUALLY DOES HER JOB AND DOES IT WELL. She knows how to work with her team to provide accurate, reliable, timely, and useful services and support for her clients! With her I feel I finally have the support I've been needing. Is the only reason I stay with this facility now!-The nurse at this facility is the only other person that has been professional, useful, and amazing in assisting me in the care of my family member. She makes herself available when "others" incorrectly order/reorder medications, or forget to write scripts for pharmacy, or change medications without my knowledge that do no need to be changed. When I have tried to address these issues with the NP I think that's his title (not a Psychiatrist/Psychologist) he is only available 1x a week, never returns calls or messages. The nurse at this facility is quick to respond and help in correcting these errors that should never have been made. The nurse is always prompt at returning all messages and calling me back to correct these issues. She goes above and beyond to assure my family member does not go without his Psych. medications. Even when she is not at the Erwin facility she takes the time to fix any issues we have had. She is the best!CONS:The first case manager assigned to my family member was no help at all. I wasted my time going to her as all she did was scribble on her notepad, never offered any resources or information to help my family member, nor seemed to know what her job responsibilities consisted of. She was unaware of any useful resources, never offered any help with needs or concerns I sought after to assist my family member. She was not very personable and did not take time to even talk to my family member to get to know them or seek out other needs they may had.-Therapy?????I am very disappointed in the services referred to as therapy. The assigned person my family member speaks to does not seem to be on the same page. He does not listen to what concerns I have nor address them with my family member. I do not feel this person is competent in their current job role. I only found out a few weeks ago this person is not even a licensed Psychiatrist or Psychologist. I feel this person seems more about his hours spent wasting our time then doing what his job role requires. I made it clear to him the attention span of my family member and the cognitive difficulties they have. The "therapist" ignored my information and continued as he had been. My family member reports that they do not like talking with him, and that he zones out after 15 min. I have noticed that after each visit (1 hour) my family member is agitated and moody. I again made it clear that 30 min sessions were long enough and again the specific issues (irrational thoughts, unrealistic goals, and paranoid delusions) that needed to be addressed in his sessions. I am currently looking to pay out of pocket if I have to, to find the proper therapy my family member deserves and needs. I will not be at this facility!-MedicationsThe NP, whom I thought was a licenced Psychiatrist, should not be prescribing psychiatric medications. Given, for the first bit he just did refills that were started from a facility. Then he decided to start making changes. How is this part of his legal job description when he is not licensed in psychiatry, has no notes from a "therapist" regarding his psychiatric behaviors/changes, nor has ever reached out the me (whom the client lives with) to address any concerns or changes with the medication changes he made without making me aware. This alone shows the lack of skill and communication within this office to provide safe, adequate, and competent care for those with mental disabilities in our community.

Very helpful. I like my psychiatrist. The only issue I have really had was a miscommunication on their end. In the fall of 2016, my original psychiatrist moved. So when the new one came in, she had my medicine called in. But somehow everyone else thought I had no medicine being prescribed at the time because my therapy case was closed. So I went through MONTHS of horrible withdrawal, becoming very depressed and anxious. When I started seeing my current psychiatrist, she informed me that she called a 90 day supply of medicine in back in October 2016. We both thought it was weird that I wasn't able to get access to my medicine. In short: Good place, but there needs to be clear communication.
