About Friends of Bridge – Outpatient

Friends of the Bridge is a drug and alcohol rehab located in Valley Stream, New York. They offer outpatient services to adults and teens who struggle with substance use disorder. They treat people who are in the justice system because of drug or alcohol related charges.

The biggest thing this place is known for is the DUI and DWI treatment services that they offer. When you get a DUI in New York State, you’re required to have an OASAS evaluation to determine if you have a chronic problem and need rehab treatment. They can provide you with this evaluation. They can make sure you enroll in the training classes you will need to have your driving privileges restored.

They have day programs for both adolescents 14 years and older and adults. There’s also an intensive outpatient program that you can attend several days a week. If a day program doesn’t work out for you, you can also attend therapy in the evening. They provide both group and individual therapy.

Teens will not only receive therapy, but Friends provides tutors so that kids won’t get behind academically while they are in treatment. Parents will be included in some therapy sessions. They will be kept apprised of their child’s progress every step of the way.

book iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

prescription iconDrug Addiction

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

head-side-medical iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

prescription-bottle-pill iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

file-medical iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

clipboard-medical iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

house-medical iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Response from the owner1 year ago
We are a not-for-profit not a private organization. This allows us to provide services at a lower cost for those in need. Our Medical Director specializes in Addiction and does not dispense medication that is potentially harmful. I again apologize for being unable to answer your questions as I would have liked. All clients have the right to privacy while in our care as mandated by HIPAA law.

Counselors are not useful . Its an insurance scam . They deal with mandated by court order clientsThey find problems with patient to extend the clients program so they can swipe the insurance more. It a scam service that preys on addicted substance abuse patients . May God help your soul's

Response from the owner2 years ago
We are sorry that you were unhappy with your time at our program. Yes, about 28% of our clients are from the courts. We appreciate every one of our clients. From the time someone enters our program until completion, we attempt to address any issues that may arise. We are required to ensure that anyone who attends our program completes only once they have successfully met specific criteria. Regrettably if there are issues a person s stay may be extended. Once again, we are sorry you were unhappy. We would have gladly addressed your criticisms while you were here. We are a not-for-profit. We offer a sliding scale for those at a lower income and even low co-pays if need be. We have been providing services to the community for 52 years and we never take advantage of anyone seeking our help.
