About 4C Health- Kokomo

4C Health is a substance abuse counseling center for kids, teens, and adults with multiple locations across Indiana. At their Kokomo location, they provide outpatient counseling services to help you break the chains of addiction and reclaim your life. You can attend your sessions in person, online, or over the phone.

I like that this facility gives you so many scheduling options when it comes to your care. You’re more likely to attend counseling if you can work it in around your schedule, and they’re here to make that possible. In addition to coming into their office, they’ll also come to you at your school, home, or another location in the community.

They provide individual, couples, and family counseling sessions. Their multidisciplinary team is trained in all aspects of therapy, including evidence based practices like motivational interviewing. They take a person centered approach to addiction treatment, taking your personal needs and recovery goals into account as they develop your customized care plan. Other services they offer include one on one recovery coaching and medication assisted treatment.

One thing to note is that multiple current and former clients say this office is very hard to communicate with, and wait times are lengthy. They also mention that scheduling is a challenge.

It takes 4 days for a call back if you aren t overlooked from them being overbooked from too many clients. Also, sometimes when you go in for your appointment your medication isn't called in till days later. Has happened to me twice now. If I don t show for my appointment I m kicked off the practice, but if they don t do their job and forget to send in my prescription and mess up my medicine, nothing happens. I hate having to stress about medication when this is a mental health facility. They desperately need to add another prescriber to their employment.Positive: I do like the lady at the front desk, she is nice. But this business is ran so unprofessionally and disorderedly. It is stressful.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Individual, couples, and family therapy for all age ranges. Their therapists focus on using best practices in treatment protocols such as cognitive behavior therapy and pursuit of specialty certifications to demonstrate competency for consumers. They have a number of registered play therapists for children. Their team of therapists use a person-centered approach to therapy that considers not just what treatment would be most helpful for the individual, but what goals are important to the individual.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program have completed inpatient care and may also be preparing to exit formal outpatient care. Outpatient services are typically categorized as rehab aftercare, but these services often continue beyond the cessation of formal treatment. Rehab aftercare services are designed to promote life-long recovery through comprehensive, wraparound care, which may include medical, mental health, and social services. These programs are usually created in collaboration with the client's case manager and care team.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Individual dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) takes place in weekly, 60 minute sessions. You'll have homework to do, such as keeping a diary to track your emotions and actions. You'll also attend group sessions, which are intended to be skills practicing sessions. DBT in Indiana typically lasts six months to a year.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are several evidence-based groups from which adults in need of structured skills-based learning can benefit from, such as Illness Management and Recovery (IMR). These programs cover social, financial, and coping skills.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational interviewing aims to stimulate the client's personal motivation and commitment to change. Rather than receive advice and warnings from the therapist, the client is given the opportunity to share their concerns and reach their own conclusions.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

To function properly, your body must have nutritional balance. Addiction throws off this balance by depleting your body of essential nutrients. Nutrition therapy aims to restore this balance by providing a healthy diet that supports healing and long term sobriety.

Recreational therapy integrates structured activities into a holistic treatment program to help promote your physical and mental health and well being. You might engage in sports, creative arts, or outdoor adventures as a positive outlet for your stress and emotions. This helps you develop new interests and build a supportive network that helps you maintain long term sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

My son went there and they are indeed terrible. Rude, racist and inhumane. They don t help.I m an American Citizen born in NY and my family is from Puerto Rico a Caribbean island that is a U.S territory however due to our hispanic last name they deny giving me a confirmation of diagnosis. I m getting my cousin who is an attorney involved. The audacity trying to gaslight me into not getting assistance that my son needs.

I had an appointment scheduled and the day of she called and canceled. This happened twice. Then someone called and said they had rescheduled us for an in person, at 5 pm in Logansport. We don't live in Logansport. The appointment was for my 3 year old and the appointment was supposed to last 90 minutes. This was inconsiderate because we wouldn't be getting home until 7:30 pm and he's 3! That's bedtime. I just decided to find a different place because I felt like they stung me along all summer.

Find another service:My health insurance got canceled the day after my fiance had surgery, on top of my ac going out, brackish water coming through my ceiling, being in the heat excessively and to my fiance not being able to walk, having no food money, and all of it triggering my severe ptsd. I'm disabled so I was panicking, and I'm autistic so I was in the worst spot possible. My former skills trainer Kelsey thought it was better to cut me off instead of understand that I'm panicking. She kept hounding me about one subject that I told her I took care of and they're was nothing I could do. when I finally pushed back and said there were more important things in my plate, she ended service. I know she works with autistic kids and it makes me shudder to think how she treats them. funny how no session is recorded you just have to trust these incompetent people with your children. That's fine, because the employees don't really care or they would've understood someone who's autistic with ptsd and other mental health issues that is panicking. Kelsey would not listen when I told her that nothing could be done, that I was out of resources. I said this multiple times and that I just needed to be left alone about it because I have more important things that I need to focus on. She simply said how SHE felt, and that I was wrong. This is not mental health services, this is "paid pity" and neglect, on top of saying offensive things during our sessions about lgbtq+people. What a unprofessional employee, especially when it comes to helping people with mental health issues. She cannot put herself second and execute her job properly. Pretending to care is very dangerous when it comes to mental health. If they don't get paid to care, then they don't. it's not a coincidence that all this happens when someone else screws up my insurance and preventing her from being paid on my behalf.update:my fiance called fssa and was told that I was correct. people are not doing their job and now are being investigated on policy breaking by their peers and supervisor. the paperwork that I sent in ON TIME CORRECTLY didn't get marked as recieved. This is vastly different from less than 2 days ago where I was told nothing could be done yet again. Which is what I told Kelsey repeatedly while asking for some time alone to take care of my fiance. I will be reporting all of this to 4c along with other information of rules that were broken during sessions. skills trainers should be further trained to deal with people in crisis. I told her I had suicidal ideations and instead of providing info on what to do, she took it as a threat. furthermore when skills trainers tell you you can just talk to them, they're lying.
