Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I would say this place mainly focuses on the money. I was there for 33 days in which time I met with the case manager once, simply to get my food stamps in which they take a certain percentage.. so it was only for their benefit. I am not sure how legal it is due to the fact that they only allow you to eat/drink on the set times. You are only aloud a certain amount and babies only get water they never allow them to have juice or milk other than for breakfast lunch and dinner. They would rather throw the food away than to help anyone. People were sneaking in drugs and had needles where babies are. I was too scared to bring my babies to this faculty due to it. Before I realized the drugs that were going on the case manager told me that cps wouldn t allow me to have my children or to drink my children with me and that I can t have my kids.. I have full custody and there was no reason why I couldn t apparently they had me confused with someone else and later told me so I missed out on 33 days with my children over a mistake they made? Did they make it right ? No. Naomi kept saying she s meet with me yet only did once and talked for a few moments and said she s get to the bottom of it. They have a huge attic full of clothes and a lot of these ladies go here with nothing yet, unless you are black they won t give you anything (these are things I was told and didn t believe but soon learned this to be true) Donna whom they call conveniently Christian actually is in charge of these things and you have to fight to be able to switch rooms, get clothes or a jacket because it s freezing. She doesn t seem to want to work with recovering addicts and probably shouldn t. They had some really good staff members who are in recover themselves. Miss Vera and miss Beth as well as miss Kendall are all amazing women. Miss Linda is a bit hard to communicate with but I learned from her and respect her. Miss Alison was also a great women as is the ladies that work at the front desk. All of them were great. Especially miss shaeron. They had a few ladies at the front desk that would buy cigarettes and gifts for some of the ladies and treat them great and treat everyone else horrible (only one) which causes issues amongst the ladies. I would say that the ladies here focus too much on who has what, clothes and makeup and such. I have money but I didn t want nice things while here as everything gets stolen they do have lockers but some ladies have been there 4-5 times and know the locker combinations as they don t change.. so you can t even put valuables in there. I believe they should get back to basics. Uniforms that all ladies must wear and on the weekend they may wear what they choose. Nothing too much a plain t-shirt and leggings. Just so some of the ladies that don t have things don t feel bad, so that they can all go ya on what s important. I don t believe they punish the ladies and I believe they should give write ups, take smoke breaks, give extra chores, and make them earn the privileges they get. No cell phone for a day and so forth. It is very important these ladies learn to follow even the simplest rules as they have not had rules in maybe ever. After one lady relapsed with her kids they allowed her to stay in her room with two 2 (or 3 yo) And not coming out to even feed them except once in two days and she would just yell at them to lay down. Anyways they should have done something. They do not do anything to ladies that break the rules. While I was there I was not permitted to have any visits due to covid. I went six months with minimal communication with the ones I love and hadn t had a hug or even a kiss. I snuck my boyfriend in after 30 days as I yearned to be held.. I was feeling very week and needed love and just to feel like a human being again. I knew that no children lived in my house.. my roommate was asleep and didn t mind. So he came in and we watched a few movies. It was lovely. Anyways a few days later after someone borrowing my phone read my text messages (material and intellectual boundaries)

When I came to First Step in August 2018 I had already been through multiple programs. I wasn't hopeful, my life was a complete mess, I wasn't even sure if I wanted to stay clean and even if I did want to I had no faith in myself that I could do it. I had been through countless detoxes, (very expensive, out of state) inpatient and outpatient programs and failed immediately as soon as I was discharged from their 30-90 day programs. First Step Home does things so different than any other place I had been and as of right now (July 2019) it is working. It didn't cost me anything to get into FSH, they immediately got me onto the maintenance medication Suboxone (at my own request... others don't take any maintenance, others take methadone, your recovery is your choice there), they made me feel comfortable and welcome. I was in their 30 day residential program then stepped down to their campus housing which is a place between residential and sober living, I stayed in campus housing for 9 months. Once you complete campus, you can move into one of their sober living houses and continue outpatient and/or move into the apartments they just opened and sign a year lease in a building filled with other sober women and their children with the same goals as you. The long term step down program is so important to me. If I would have left after 30 days in residential I wouldn't have had a chance. Before you move onto the next step they make sure you're ready. They help you obtain housing if you dont choose to stay in their housing, they helped me get insurance, they encouraged and helped me find employment, they have been so supportive of me trying to reunify with my daughter. All of the staff that I personally interacted with were amazing who I grew to love within this past year. Most of them are in recovery themselves and understand where we are coming from. First Step Home has a special place in my heart and I hope they know that they saved my life... I came in suicidal, without my child I had just given birth to a few days prior, sick, hopeless and hating myself. A little less than a year later I'm on the path of getting my daughter back, employed, have my own apartment, almost have a year clean off of fentynal and have a great relationship with my family. I couldn't ask for more at this time in my life.If you need help (especially if you are pregnant or have children) please call this place. They really did change my life.

As of right I'm skeptical in seeing how First Step has a contract with the worst child traffickers aka Hamilton County children services. Allowing them info on urine screens and other personal info which they use to snatch up your children especially infants. Also these hospitals are doing the same thing which is a violation of your HIPAA rights, then children services run in there, lies and tells you that your baby will be going back to first step with you, when in reality they don't call anyone they ask you on your list, but call the magistrate at night or on week and make up and exaggerate a scenario just to put a child in foster care instead of placing them with sibling, family or friends of your choice. Running out the room to be sneaky, lying, and underhanded while you have your alternative placement that has been approved many times for children and sitting in the room waiting for the children services worker to approve you. Next thing you know, you are blind sided when the worker flies in the room like she just hit the lottery saying" the Magistrate just informed my supervisor that we have been granted temporary custody of your child."e Wow like the cheerleader squad is coming out next, only for them, not for you. So instead of your baby coming to First Step, he or she is in the twilight zone, praying that the one day hearing this morning goes well down at 800 Broadway aka Satan's Den. Children do not deserve this, you are suppose to be their to help not add to the hurt, How would you feel if it was you, or your children being legally kidnapped?

Thanks for your feedback. First Step Home collaborates with hospitals, courts and Hamilton County Jobs and Family Services to care for women and their children. These groups are responsible for providing services to individuals under established policies and procedures. In particular, when supporting women, who are in recovery and a child is involved it is the responsibility of Hamilton County Jobs and Families to assure their safety in conjunction with other collaborating partners. We at First Step Home encourage our clients to ask questions and we support them to make sure they have the correct information and understand what they have heard. We at First Step Home are well known for our investment in keeping mothers and children together as a family. We hope things work out positively for you and your family over time and that your sobriety continues to be a priority.
