Really feeling unseen and unheard. Spent 6 hours to see the doctor ONCE at the beginning of my visit to give me pain meds and then sat in the bed waiting for answers just to be given discharge papers from a nurse and told if I needed help to come back. They had the nerve to ask if I would pay the $200 copay today after the absolute lack of care. The nurses did alright they were kind and attentive, but to be completely written off and sent on your way after putting a bandaid on the issue is ridiculous. This isn t just a business. This is people s lives and health in your hands. Also editing to add that it wasn t swamped when I was in. There was no one in the parking lot or waiting room. What s the excuse.

Classic treat and street. We came in to get a little emergency help for a migraine issue. Needed a little extra in pain control to prevent vomiting whenever she ate, and to allow her to sleep. That s all. No tests were required and none were ordered. No recommendation for follow up consultation is expected and none is likely to be required or given. No need for prescription medication. As of writing this, we have been almost completely ignored for over 5 hours. Paledo acts more like a frightened med student instead of an actual physician. Nurse professionalism is hit and miss. Could be at home resting and healing, but we re waiting on the jokesters at the nurses station to finish their standup routine. Babysitter needs to go to work. However, we are still waiting on discharge paperwork while we listen to Poledo chit chat down the hall.Finley and Mercy hospitals in Dubuque seem to be fixated on racing each other to the lowest standards of patient care.

Accepted Insurance

Finley Hospital Summit Health Center – Mental Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I was the caregiver for my 99 year old uncle. I took him to the finley e.r. only because at the mercy e.r. it was a 3 hour wait. So i called finley and they said they only had 6 patients in the e.r. We spent 14 hours in the e.r. before he got a room upstairs on the fifth floor. And two of the charge nurses and one nurse on the night shift treated me and my uncle worse than a dog. Absolutely rude and ignorant as can be. My uncle passed away at finley. And after he passed (his room was directly across from the nurses desk) and the two evil wretched charge nurse's were laughing hysterically when i left the room unprofessional, and cruel. Also my uncle had a u.t.i and wasn't himself because of the u.t.i, and was restless and pulled his i.v. and heart monitor off. And after he settled down i asked the night nurse (Earnest) why my uncles heart monitor and i.v. weren't put back on him and Earnest said "i thought we wrote him off for dead". Please save yourself the humiliation and stress and DO NOT go to this place. Try to get in at mercy one or southwest health, where hopefully you will be treated with dignity and respect. -So i left this review (above) yesterday and below the response from finley hospital was "they took feedback seriously and i should call the patient advocate" so i called the patient advocate as instructed below. I left a message and the patient advocate called me back this afternoon and she kept asking me "what i wanted her to do about it" since when is it my responsibility to come up with a solution to this terrifying problem?????? What a joke!!!! I told the patient advocatePeople need to be fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!---- So Saturday evening August 10th i had a accident while doing some painting (ladder slipped out on me) i fell about 12 feet and needed to go to the e.r. Mercy was really busy again, so i headed over to southwest health in Platteville. Wow what a e.r. (nothing but respectful people who truly care) and after the e.r visit and visit with the podiatrist and surgery with Dr. Hammack (southwest's podiatrist) everything and everyone at southwest is so nice and helpful it's well worth the 33 minute drive to go to real hospital where the culture is so incredible!!!!!! And not once did anyone " write me off for being dead" like Earnest did at finley!!!!!!

The ER needs to be better! Took Mom my here a few times and she wasn't treated kindly. She wasn't treated with respect. Gave two starts because the birthing unit does a great job and so does the lab. Otherwise not too impressed with the ER.

In the Finley ER I did not feel heard, and some staff belittled my health complaint. The grand finale to the humiliating experience was a nurse who after removing IV lines coldly tossed discharge instructions onto my stomach and walked out of the room. The medical treatment I received did resolve my emergency, however, which earns them one star. I will not return to that ER.

Every time I go to Finley ER, I verify all of my personal information INCLUDING my address. And they continue to send my mail to a random address. That is not right! For as much as they charge, they should be able to handle personal information correctly!

They have this many bad reviews for a reason, take notice of them. I went to the Finley ER Friday night feeling awful, I had been sick since Wednesday and hadn't been able to hold any food or water down because of it. Finley has been my go-to because they have my medical records. At the point I went in, there was blood every time I would vomit. The admissions woman was kind, but I can't say the same for the woman that "treated" me, if you would call it that. The only things they did were a flu test and covid test. Over an hour later, without anyone so much as checking in, they gave me a paper stating I had influenza A and sent me on my way. No fluids, nothing, just the easiest option. Saturday morning I still felt awful so I went to Mercy. It's Sunday now, I'm in Mercy's ICU because I was in adrenal crisis. The hospital that had none of my records to start with gave me proper care and attention, rather than simply choosing the easiest solution and discharging. In former experiences with Finley they insisted I was just a drug addict, despite me telling them they could do any test they wanted to prove I'm not. If you value your life, do NOT go to Finley.

The staff recognized that I may have been in an abusive situation, even though I wasn t ready to tell someone. They were kind and offered support, and their physician documentation was objective and not in violation of my human rights. In other words, the doctors documented that what I was expressing was odd but that I did not require further hospitalization or mandated medication.
