About Family Counseling Center

FCC Behavioral Health has a clinic in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The Butler County Behavioral Health Clinic has outpatient programs for adults and minors who are 10 years and older. They also have special tracks for veterans. Medicare and Medicaid are accepted.

If you’re at this center, it’s usually because you’re having a crisis. This means you need immediate triage or an assessment without delay. Once you’re admitted, your main treatment will probably include a mix of individual and group therapy. There’ll be classes to help you develop new life skills and find ways to cope outside of using drugs or alcohol. You’ll learn about triggers that can fuel your behavior and how they can tie into mental health disorders. The Poplar Bluff location is near their supportive housing unit, which may be available if need be.

If your symptoms are more acute, you may be referred to one of FCC’s inpatient centers for more supervision. There’s also separate programs for adolescents and adults who have substance abuse problems.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs provide an intermediate level of care, often supporting clients' transition from inpatient rehab to outpatient treatment. Most IOP programs require a minimum of nine therapeutic hours weekly, but clients may receive up to 20 hours of care, with the intensity and frequency of care declining as clients grow stronger in their sobriety. Intensive outpatient treatment generally combines addiction counseling, recovery education, holistic therapies, and, for some, medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

Co-Occurring counseling and group therapy are provided to those identified as having both a substance use diagnosis and a mental health diagnosis. Co-occurring issues are integrated into the person-centered care plan and are provided by qualified personnel. Group Education consists of the presentation of general information and application of the information to participants through group discussion in accordance to the person-centered care plan which is designed to promote recovery and enhance social functioning.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy in Missouri is to help clients change their thinking and behavioral patterns. Strategies of treatment include role playing, facing fears, and calming techniques.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Couples therapy in Missouri deals with the problems each partner has within themselves and with each other. Sessions may be held jointly and others individually to address these issues and help each partner learn how to manage challenges in healthy ways.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Addiction often leads to severe health issues, including malnutrition. While focusing on the consumption of substances, you don't get the vitamins your body needs. During nutrition therapy in Missouri, you'll work with a doctor and nutritionist to address the health concerns caused by poor nutrition and learn how to develop healthier eating habits for recovery.

They take a long time to get an appointment then expect to copy my kids social security cards. Screw you! Even medicaid never requires proof of social security cards. You can not guarantee the security of that information, systems get hacked every day.

Emily the psychiatrist there It s not very knowledgeable nor experienced in dealing with children with behavioral issues will not be taking my child back there Look else where for help because you will not find it here at FCC facilities. They recommend that you call the crisis line when a crisis comes up but all they can tell you to do is go to the hospital or emergency room when you call. Waste of time and money

I'm being harassed by this company. I have never saught their services and they claim medicaid is sending them. Today I spoke with medicaid and it's not true. Medcaid has nothing to do with it. They show up at my house, send letters. I will be reaching out to my lawyer if this continues. It's harassment and not ok.

For a counciling center they are not very professional. They don't not communicate you appointments, they will forget your time or appointment outright. The peer councilor I was assigned was rude and unprofessional. He would text me angrily if something went wrong when the problems were an internal issue.I saw a doctor there and was prescribed medication but was never told where to send it, they sent it to their personal choice and not my pharmacy. I had to call to find out info they needed to share upfront.Took almost two months to ever start services and instead of letting me choose how to pay they signed me up for a grant for themselves.Overall, the place seems very unprofessional and inappropriate for a mental health clinic but for free I guess you're getting what you pay for.

Well after being referred here through kniebert clinic I had high hopes and expectations of being treated for my adult attention deficit disorder. Instead, after sitting down for only TWO minutes I found myself without a resolution. The Dr. (Ms. Cline) immediately shut down when I gave my medical history on medications I ve been on prior; it was advised through my nurse practitioner and the behavioral head doctor that I be placed on a stimulant- I guess that spooked her because she immediately shoved me off. After asking her for a referral she stated she had none. She never once asked probing question nor try to get an idea of my reason for being referred in the first place. I know doctors have a duty to uphold and use caution when prescribing medication but I felt as if I was treated as a nobody. So here I am (again) having to look for a practitioner that is willing to take my medical records from Kniebert seriously enough to ACTUALLY help me instead of just push me off. And here s the tickler of it all: two minutes; I m going to be fully billed for a full session when I only sat for two minutes. LOL (wow).Addendum-I also need to add that I feel cheated. Why? Because back in December when I talked to them originally they stated they couldn t do anything. Then heaven behold they called me up to set up a meeting for me months after, even asked me adhd questions and said they could help (yeah right): this gave me the impression that maybe they would try to work with me. So upon writing this today and knowing they can t I must advise to all to please use caution. In the end..... I m being billed for consultation in which my needs were never even met. Great business practice y all have there in FCC.
