The staff and also my therapist Kourtney have been great. Dr. Purewal however, seems to not care about me as a patient or a human being. He accidentally sent a prescription I have never heard of to my pharmacy. I don t think it was the pharmacy s mistake because it was a controlled substance and those need prior authorization, etc. When I brought it to his attention, he just shrugged his shoulders. He asked zero questions and gave no apologies. Controlled substances in the wrong hands could be a disaster and seems like a dangerous mistake. He could care less. Also, my appointment with him was only 6 minutes but he told me I have to hurry up because we are running out of time. The guy couldn t even bother to spend my whole appointment time with me which is only 15 minutes. I have never ONCE seen that man smile and he always looks unenthusiastic and acts like he could care less. This is the worst provider I have ever had. He is a terrible provider for people who are already struggling with mental health issues.

I have mixed feelings about FamilyLinks. So here's just my honest thoughts.I've been going to FamilyLinks for a little over 2 years. And they just switched me to my fourth Theripist. In my opinion it's kind of ridiculous to have that high of a turnover in such a short period of time. Switching from therapist to therapist makes it next to impossible to build any kind of long-term connection. It feels like as soon as I get to know the therapist & they have any understanding of me at all they end up leaving Family Links so it's just like each therapist gets an introduction to me and then I move on to another one.I've had two therapists leave me because they say that other place is pay much better than family links. So it's not just completely random that they're leaving It is due to family links not paying their employees properly. My first FamilyLinks theripist was Alexi. I ended up leaving her as a therapist & requesting somebody new because I was telling her an honest story and she just simply didn't believe me. Without trust I'm not going to feel comfortable opening up to anybody so when im treated like a liar when Im telling the truth it's just ruins the therapist client relationship. Alexi also laughed at me when I was telling an embarrassing story which also made me really uncomfortable and gave me the feeling like I can't trust her.My second therapist was Jen. She was very middle of the road and had very moderate reasonable advice. But as soon as we got to know each other she left FamilyLinks saying they don't pay well enough. My third therapist was Bree. She was awesome. I think she was the best therapist I've ever had. Unfortunately she also left family links after just a few months saying that family links doesn't pay adequately. My fourth therapist at family Links is Courtney. I have no comment on her as of yet.But it does just seem so ridiculous to me that FamilyLinks has such a high turnover of their employees. You should really keep that in mind when selecting a therapist. Most people want to be able to make a long-lasting relationship with theirs to develop trust and a connection. A big thing that I struggle with is feeling like every relationship in my real life is temporary; and I feel like family links has added to this feeling by dangling a new therapist over me and as soon as I become comfortable they take them away. When you first sign up for a family links they have you sign a document and in that document it says that you have control over your information and that you can request a copy of it at any time. Unfortunately FamilyLinks makes it almost a complete nightmare to get a copy of your documents. Sometimes taking months of requesting a copy of it before they actually send it. I think Tamara assumes that people will just give up on the requests so she just simply doesn't do her job and doesn't send a copy of the documents hoping that people will just stop requesting it. Im just speculating on her intent; but I'm not speculating on her actions It literally took months of requesting a copy of my session notes before they would actually send it. Not only does this seem unethical I think it's also a violation of the freedom of information act, and a breach of the contract do they have a sign when we first sign up at family Links.Another complain I have is with Dr. Navdeep S. Purewal MD. The first time that I met with him within under 5 minutes of meeting with me he was offering to prescribe me a very serious antidepressant. This felt incredibly unprofessional and reckless of him to do this. The country has a serious prescription drug addiction problem going on and it's because of doctors like Dr Purewal who hand out serious life-changing antidepressants as if they're candy. They literally affect the chemicals inside of your brain, antidepressants or something that serious thought should be put into not just a doctor simply asking you which one you want. Dr. Navdeep S. Purewal MD seem to also just be lacking a lot of basic understanding of drug interactions

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
