I had a couple surgeries here. Both I found were unnecessary. One was to get my wisdom teeth removed, the other was turbinate reduction. I used to have straight teeth for ten years after braces. After my wisdom teeth were removed, my teeth shifted. Now I need braces again. And then I was told to get my turbinates reduced instead of waiting for an allergy test. I was told my turbinates were perfectly healthy , so why was this allowed? I backed out of the surgery the first time but later decided to give it a go. I now live with nearly constant dry nose and mouth symptoms. The whole reason I got the surgery was to improve my singing. Guess who can t sing now?

I was getting my infusion at the infusion center. I was using the bathroom at the time and was unable to have my door shut do to the I.V line. A maintenance worker walked into my room without knocking or announcing himself and proceeded to take down the lights to clean them. I shouted out loudly that I was in the bathroom as I looked at him from my wonderful seat on the toilet. I was very upset and was cussing at him to leave my room but he refused too and said he was cleaning the bugs out of the lights and he will leave shortly. I continued to cuss and yell and he did not care at all. One of the nurses said she would file a complaint. I called the hospital and left messages for someone to contact me and it has been over a month and no response from whatsoever from the hospital. Talk about a huge privacy violation and clearly the hospital does not care!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Couples therapy in Minnesota can help you understand yourself and your partner better and identify the issues causing stress in the relationship. From finances to addiction to children, you'll learn skills to deal with various stressors and strengthen your relationship.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Recreational therapy supports addiction recovery by giving you enjoyable activities that improve your overall well being. Treatment centers may include team sports, arts and crafts, or outdoor activities to help reduce your cravings, alleviate stress, and build a supportive community network that helps maintain long term sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Update: (Underwent successful flow control diagnosis/surgery to my sinus passages at the Mayo Clinic, thank goodness for the Mayo!) Dr. Kristin Fredricksen & the prestigious ENT staff continued for 3+ years post surgery to tell me I m just fine , & send me home; even though I wasn t. I begged her to please reconsider everything/think, but she only wrote me off as a crazy person; even though she did the surgery. She wanted her surgery to be so perfect, she couldn t see her flaws; it was a very simple diagnosis for a specialist of her caliber. I ve been walking around with a staff infection in my nose for years suffering, because she decided to cauterize my nose. She missed, & slid the burner across the entire inside of my nose wall. Now generally speaking, burns make things dry. Instead of giving me an ointment, Dr gave me more and more allergy meds; to the point it was a poisonous dose. She did this in my opinion, because she just could not accept being anything physically wrong with my nose, cuz that would ergo mean something was wrong with her procedures; she was not accepting that. In fact she took it as an accusation, & charted that it was my mental brain/allergies. I even got one of those special allergy tests, to disprove this allergy notion; she did not care. She kept shoving that stupid camera up my nose, telling me everything is perfect when it really clearly wasn t healed; even after years. I will be getting all of my medical records, as well as my poisonous doses on paper. I will be making a case because now for the rest of my life I have to be on a medical treatment plan And may possibly have MRSA type situation to deal with from not being properly diagnosed for so long. For being a specialist, this person is not very humble, and that gets in the way of her intelligence; super dangerous. She does have skills as a surgeon, I m not going to knock that, and she does have a brilliant mind in textbook; but you have to listen to your clients. Thank you for listening to my story. I hope you consider this before you bring any loved one into ENT - ear, nose, and throat for everybody who don t know.

My girls just had tonsils and adenoids removed today. The admitting team of nurses, the surgeon and the anesthesiologist were amazing. They all made the entire process go so well and truly cared for my girls the entire time we were there! Thank you!

I went to the ER with stomach pain. Although the staff was nice, I waited so long, that the pain eventually went away and I left. Apparently it was just a bug and not something serious as it was the worst stomach pain I ever had

Update: Last week I decided to go to the ER in Grand Rapids and was treated horribly there they're part of Fairview I was there for 4hrs saw the Dr once nurse 3 times and X-rays urine sample no blood work and then after the first hr never saw a nurse or Dr again just the person from housekeeping when I went out to the hallway looking for a nurse nevermind that it was just filthy in the room I was in and the bathroom I eventually just walked out, but during check in I saw a note on the bottom of my chart from the charge nurse that I told off at the ER here in Hibbing in bold black capital letters she had wrote extreme violent tendencies towards others!!! Never in my life (I'm in my 50s) has anyone ever thought that about me professionals or anyone!!!I was brought in by ambulance switched from a gurney to a wheelchair after telling them that sitting upright makes me worse than I was wheeled out to the waiting area n the charge nurse had to fill in for the triage nurse n was pissy expected me to get up n walk I'm already considered a high risk fall have to wear something with a button to call if I fall. My blood pressure was 158/113. I have a strong family history of heart disease on both the paternal and maternal side of my family and I'm a female so we present different ways when having a heart attack long story short I got up said some things about them needing to learn to listen to their patients and that n walked out,so if you want to die go there want to live go somewhere else even if you are picked up by the ambulance you have the right to refuse to go here n they have to transport you and your insurance has to pay for it.
