Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

In California, substance abuse treatment programs can help individuals with any type of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. Within 10 days we were told there was a bed available. We roll into the site & the place wasn t set up to accommodate wheelchairs and they didn t have staff onsite to assist my wife in her basic needs. So I guess we were placed at the bottom of their list. The worker either did not listen to us or did not bother to look at us as it is obvious that my wife has special needs. That was back in May. We are still homeless and struggling. They did give us baloney sandwiches once. My case worker never called me never responded to any of my text. We are your basic poor folk. No drug addiction no jail records. I am close to going insane as I have to keep turning down job offers because there is no place I can leave my wife while away at work. The quality of service we have received from ALL of Los Angeles 211 services is poor at best. I haven t had a shower since July and my wife since August. One would think recovery from a stroke would get a little attention. Nope. Thanks for nothing. Literally.

After waiting almost 5 hours to be seen and trying to speak to the front desk twice, it took multiple calls from my emergency contact for them to finally take my vitals and registration paperwork. When they finally did see me, they claimed they had called my name multiple times although I had been sitting in the lobby and never once heard my name. They also claimed I should ve come to the front desk to check why I wasn t being seen although I did twice. Now, I m still waiting to see a doctor. The man at the front desk (not security) was very flippant when I tried to ask for help each time. I would never recommend this location to anyone who needs urgent professional care. I will never comprehend people working as mental health professionals yet treating patients like they are beneath them.

On April 2nd, a Tuesday, I was brought to Exodus Recovery mental health facility by the police, even though I did not require involuntary admission. During my stay, I felt that the level of care provided was lacking. It seemed like I was placed there and left to manage on my own. I was placed in a unit with individuals displaying extreme behaviors, which made it challenging for me to maintain my own well-being. The afternoon staff seemed to treat patients as if they were not in control, while the overnight nurses showed more compassion. The food quality was below standard. My requests were addressed promptly and all inquiries were answered politely. The social workers were not very helpful, simply handing me a paper and saying goodbye. It felt like they were eager for patients to leave quickly. I would rate this facility zero stars, but I am giving it three stars solely because of the overnight nurses. In conclusion, there is definitely room for improvement in the way patients are cared for.

On February 20th, I brought my mother to seek psychiatric care. We waited for 5 hours but were unable to see the doctor. Despite prior phone contact with their customer service, who assured us that there were Chinese-speaking doctors available, it turned out there were none, and no interpreter was provided. The doctors seemed very busy and impatient, perhaps due to a high volume of patients daily. He attitude was extremely poor, and I initially intended to give them a 0-star rating. However, the administrative staff, particularly a lady, was exceptional. Therefore, I am giving a three-star rating. She assisted in finding a translator for my mother and helped in reaching out to the doctors. Despite my mother repeatedly entering her office without any sign of annoyance, she remained calm and understanding. I believe this lady deserves a promotion and a salary increase. She approaches her work with dedication and genuine compassion for the patients.

I actually liked the time i spent here. And the recliners were big enough for a person to sleep in comfortably. I slept like a baby. And they give you cigarette breaks every 6 hours. And i remember being fed very well. And the staff was very polite and professional and helpful.
