About Erie Family Health Center

Erie Family Health Center is an outpatient mental health care facility and drug and alcohol rehab for youth and adults in Chicago, Illinois. The center specializes in telehealth care, crisis intervention, dual diagnosis services, medication assisted treatment (MAT), short-term general outpatient programs (OP), and aftercare planning and support.

The center specializes in age-specific services. They offer targeted programs for children, adolescents, young adults, and seniors. They also provide treatment for persons with co-occurring addiction and mental illness.

The short-term general outpatient programs (OP) provide up to six months of care and include medical and mental health assessments, personalized care planning, and case management. Clients engage in intensive individual, group, and family counseling drawing on proven modalities, including CBT, DBT, and ACT. The program also prioritizes age-specific, recovery-focused life-skills training that addresses topics such as coping, self-care, anger and stress management, and relapse prevention. Clients may be referred by their primary care provider to the evidence-based MAT program for longer-term pharmacotherapy using buprenorphine and/or naltrexone.

Their aftercare services ensure a complete continuum of care aligned with clients’ evolving needs. These services may include step-down support and referrals for additional medical, mental health, and social service programs.

Erie Family Health Center accepts private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, sliding-scale payment schedules, and self-pay.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Call center is rediculous if you are sick you cant just make an appointment you have to sit on hold for sometimes hours until a nurse answers to give you an appointment if they have any. Even if you want a follow up appointment they tend to want to send you to the triage line in which I swear it is literally one nurse that answers and if you are waiting on a call back forget it they call back several hours or even days later I have been going here since 2004 and it used to be great now it is horrible hard to get or make an appointment

very bad service from the doctors, they only waste your time and tell you everything is normal, the same goes for the pediatric area, I went for my newborn baby since the formula is not doing well for her, in the end the pediatrician gave her a covid test, to tell me that everything is normal and that the stomach pain, vomiting and gas, among other symptoms, are normal. The truth is that he has already lost empathy towards patients and all kinds of symptoms are now normal

Dr. Hunter is the best! She s been seeing my baby since birth and she is amazing with her. I have three older children and they kept the same doctor until she retired! I was so nervous looking for a new doctor and she made this transition so easy. I try my hardest to make sure I keep all my appointments with her because of how great of a doctor she is. Thank you Dr. Hunter!

I called today twice. They refuse to make a appointment for me. They told me a nurse will call me and hung up on me twice. She said her name is Jessica but who knows. They where very rude. I don t even know who I can report this to. But I need my doctor, and I m afraid to even ask what s my log in.

Terrible service, I have UTI symptoms and I do not have transportation or childcare and I voiced this to the nurse and doctor and they still wanted me to come in for a urine test. Mind you I took an at home uti test that came back positive and this still was not enough. What is the point of telehealth if you cannot help a vulnerable patient who is in dire need of care??

I have been a patient for over 25 years. I scheduled my wellness check. I got into a fender bender. On the way there literally tried to call six times and got hangups. Not sure if you have a call center or customer service rep working from home that we re just hanging up 1 that is Rude, 2 my appointment got canceled because I could not get through to let someone know why I was running late. Extremely disappointed the quality of the care and the customer service has gone down the drain. I have been waiting for over a month for someone to call me back and let me know that my teenagers vaccine is ready because as a private insured they did not have vaccines for my daughter, 2nd time this happens. This is not the Erie Clinic that I remember when they were first founded and one location was in place on superior Avenue. I m actually discussed it by the fact that I placed six calls to let them know I was running late got checked in and they still canceled my appointment while I was waiting.

She said I don't know you have to call at regular business hours. I said please I need help is this normal and I explained what was going on and she said oh well call back at 8am hun not now cause it's closed and hung up on me. Never even took my information to find out who I was. Or anything
