My son spent seven months at Engage and is a different person now. He's engaging, friendly, resourceful and excited about planning his future. I can't praise the program enough, especially the two staff members with whom I had the most contact--Jack Hinman and Patrick Dotson. Jack was masterful in the way he integrated information about my son and translated that into a tailored plan for his growth. Given that my son was under 18 when he entered the program--which I understand is unusual for Engage--Jack did an amazing job. And my son's therapist, Patrick, was nothing short of life changing for my son. He gained my son's trust and established an authentic, respectful relationship. He was--and is--able to guide my son to confront truths and obstacles that no one before has been able to do. As a result, my son is on the road to establishing healthy relationships and a secure future. Thank you Engage!

I went here for about 8 months I was home from college after going through some mental health problems and was working full time but didn't feel like I was progressing. I decided to look for a place I could go that was like a short job/college support program to help me get back into the swing of things. This definitely was not what I thought I was getting into. This place is a little more hands on than I thought but it was still a great place for those who needed that level of support. I found myself butting up against a lot of walls but overall it was a very nice place. I loved all the staff Especially but not limited to Audrey who is a life coach, Tyler who is head life coach, Laura who was my case manager, and Patrick who was my therapist, very very great people. Every week they would take anyone who wanted to go on a really cool trip out into nature weather it was outdoor rockclimbing, hiking, caving, or mountain biking or any of the other cool things they have done. Very nice place with a nice environment. Been going to school for welding and working full time and having a great time out in utah.

Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate your honesty about Engage being more hands-on than you expected, while also recognizing the value of that support for those who need it. It is great to hear that you are working full time, going to school for welding, and enjoying your life in Utah. We are glad Engage could be part of that process, and I know Audrey, Tyler, Laura, Patrick, and the rest of the team will appreciate your kind words.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

When treating substance use disorder and a mental health condition, the best approach is to treat both conditions at the same time. Known as dual diagnosis treatment, this kind of specialized care provides you with 24/7 access to medical and mental health professionals, group therapy in order to provide a supportive peer group, and family therapy which helps to improve relationships with loved ones.

Programs

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Therapists may use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Utah to address substance use and mental health disorders. The main focus is to change thinking patterns, which leads to behavioral change. Subtypes of CBT include exposure therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance commitment therapy.

Life skills training helps you handle the daily obligations of work, school, and family. It rebuilds your self awareness and self confidence so you can face these challenges with healthy coping strategies rather than succumb to relapse.

During dialectical behavior therapy in Utah, you'll work on developing four main skills. Interpersonal effectiveness helps you manage your relationships. Mindfulness keeps you present in the current moment rather than worry or regret. Distress tolerance helps you accept emotions. Emotional regulation gives you the tools you need to successfully manage intense emotions.

The foundation of motivational interviewing in Utah rests on four pillars: partnership, evocation, acceptance, and compassion. The therapist collaborates with the client, encouraging them to explore their options and make informed decisions about making changes in their lives.

Recreational therapy helps you in your addiction recovery program by improving your overall well being. Activities can include sports, music, and nature excursions that give you positive experiences, reduce your cravings, and offer the opportunity to reduce your stress. These aid in your addiction recovery.

The program itself is fine, there are issues and great things about it. The one solid piece of advice I can give the young adults who come into this program is advocate for yourself and you have to want to make progress. Liv and Zadie who currently work there are amazing great employees and most of the staff in general are OK. Previous employees who have worked here that are truly amazing as well are Jade, Boston, Rebecca, Zoe! Connection is very important at this program and the surrounding town in general.

Audrey and Tyler are the GOAT’s at Engage Transitions. They’re basically the LeBron and D-Wade of the team. Audrey always brings good energy, keeps everyone motivated, and gets people to believe they can do the hard things. Tyler is the man—he is reliable, always keeps it real, is a great mentor at the gym, and makes cooking classes fun. These two make showing up worth it. If they’re working that day, you know it’s gonna be a good one. 10/10.

Response from the owner

We are grateful for the energy, reliability, humor, and support they bring each day. We will definitely make sure they see this review.

My young adult son has been there for 4 months and is thriving. I am so impressed by the Engage program and the staff. Prior to coming to Engage, my son was stuck and had no direction. He is now attending school, learning to be independent and is excited about his future. I am very grateful that we found Engage. There should be more programs like it for young adults!

Finding someone who genuinely understands your child’s needs and can provide the right support and guidance is priceless. Patrick Dotson is an incredible therapist and life coach who has been an absolute blessing to our family. He has the perfect balance of empathy, guidance, and structure, creating an environment where my son feels supported while learning accountability, building confidence, and developing important life skills. Engage was a true lifeboat for our family during a time when I was deeply concerned about my son’s well-being and future. It became a place of safety and stability when he needed it most, somewhere he felt protected, understood, and genuinely cared for. Patrick, Jack, and the entire staff fostered an atmosphere of trust, compassion, and acceptance, allowing the young adults to navigate challenges, discover their strengths, and continue growing. Knowing my son had a place where he was valued, supported, and surrounded by people who believed in him meant more than words can express. The care, dedication, and genuine compassion Patrick provided was truly exceptional. He has a remarkable ability to connect with young adults, recognize their individual needs, and guide them toward growth in a way that feels both encouraging and empowering. The impact he has made on my son’s life has been profound, and we are incredibly grateful for the support and mentorship he has provided — and continues to provide. I sleep better knowing my son still has Patrick in his corner, someone he can turn to for encouragement, perspective, and guidance, even after completing his time at Engage. A sincere thank you!!
