We had a wonderful experience with Embark. It was a big decision to send my 13 year old daughter from NY to Oregon. Having spent nearly three months there, I never had to feel concerned for her safety or well-being. The staff at this facility is truly caring and professional, they kept us in the loop every step of the way. It was the first time that my daughter was receptive to therapy and gained valuable DBT skills while she was there. From phone calls, to visiting, and attending workshops, the staff was always unbelievably welcoming, knowledgeable and patient. Thank you to Alyssa, Molly, Stephanie, Maryanne and Jack and everyone else there who made my daughter feel comfortable and safe.

I stayed at embark in bend last year for treatment while I was there on my first day I say that they truly didnt care all that much on how they effected me or the other children there although the staff that worked with me that stayed in the house where mostly amazing aside from some they really didn't understand and only took the time to get to know some of the children I was not one of them the house is not at all what it seems the doors will be locked most of the time to our bedrooms and will only give a couple minutes of grace periods to get stuff that you might need for the rest of the day they will provide you with stuff in a bag like an eye mask for the light that they will shine in your eyes at least every 30 minutes while you try and sleep and that was not mentioned on the website... the team had an interaction with a nother child while I was there in my room that I shared with the other child while that kid was getting stuff ready for their shower they where going into there shoe bin the team asked what they where getting and they replied nothing but they grabbed a peice of glass that they took from outside witch I have no idea how they got in inside from the pocket checks that we have to do every time we even go outside of to school and they knew that they had the glass and all they said was "if you put it back we will not take it" so they knew that they had this so they could harm themselves but they also didn't take it away what part of this is recovering and healing while I was there was also not aloud to go on outing as well as everyone else other then two people in that house they said that we would go on outing to the store or house back riding but before you could do all that you would have to level up some levels the entire thing was weird and uncomfortable not to mention when they decided to kick me out Becuse my insurance didn't approve enough time that would be worth there while they came and picked me up from the school building and not telling me what of where I was going they dropped me off back out the house and didn't let me back inside and then they told me I was upset Becuse I wanted to recover and I couldn't Becuse what they where doing but when I got my suitcase they had just thrown everything in there my shampoo and body wash and other personal hygiene products where busted open and leaking all over my clothes but all other things where missing like my clothes and my mom emailed them and all they could come up with is that they couldn't get my stuff back Becuse other children claimed them as there's and that they didn't want to clause more trauma to them so I never saw those clothes again other people before me that either got kicked out of left after their time there where what felt like black listed they where not aloud to talk about the children that got kicked out or if they did they where told that they can't talk about them over all my experience there was not good and I would have for other children to go through the same stuff please before enrolling your kids here find a different option

Madison, Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that your time at Embark in Bend left you feeling unsupported and dismissed. Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a more intensive form of outpatient and can be a step-down service in substance use disorder treatment. During PHP treatment, which lasts 4-8 hours per day and up to 5 days a week, you'll participate in daily therapeutic services (relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy) for an average of 90 days. The cost of PHP treatment varies, but it is typically covered by insurance providers.

Treatments

In Oregon, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs provide integrated care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Specialized programs include outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Using a combination of individual and group therapy, psychoeducation, and skills training, a team of clinical addiction and mental health experts can treat the underlying causes of your addiction and improve your mental health.

When you experience a co-occurring drug or alcohol addiction and a mental health disorder, a dual diagnosis treatment center offers the specialized services needed to address both conditions at the same time. By treating both disorders at once - under the same roof and with 24/7 access to mental health professionals – you drastically increase your chances of being successful in long-term recovery.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Oregon is a short term talk therapy method used to treat mental and behavioral disorders. Based on client needs, the therapist may recommend five to 20 sessions. Typically, this form of therapy requires fewer sessions than many other types of treatment.

It can be difficult to interpret or articulate how you're feeling during recovery. Through creative arts therapy, you can explore those emotions and share what you're feeling in ways beyond words. Methods include dance, drama, music, drawing, and writing.

During experiential therapy in Oregon, the therapist focuses on your perceptions of what you're experiencing while engaging in activities such as art, music, wilderness adventures, or animal care. The therapist will help you explore your emotions and their meaning to help you work through past experiences and cope with trauma, hurt, and anger.

I had the privilege of working at Embark Bend for several years. The commitment to the care and well-being of the youth—ages 10 to 14—is unmatched. Every staff member shows up each day with heart, compassion, and a deep belief in the potential of every child who walks through the door. What sets this place apart is the culture of teamwork and genuine support—not just for the kids, but for each other as colleagues. The leadership is involved and approachable, and there’s a real emphasis on training, communication, and emotional safety for everyone in the building. Working here, I saw kids go from scared and shut down to confident, connected, and hopeful. It’s not always easy work, but it’s incredibly important work—and the entire team treats it that way. Even though I’ve moved on to a different path, I carry so many lessons and memories with me from my time at Embark Bend. It’s a special place doing life-changing work.
