About EM Jellinek Center

Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, the EM Jellinek Center is a residential alcohol and drug rehab center for adult men. They offer services to help clients break the cycle of addiction, develop healthy coping skills, and return back to their families healthier and happier than ever before. For more than 40 years, this state licensed facility has helped local men rebuild their lives and restore their relationships. They are funded through the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, a grant from the KAMA Philanthropic Fund, and public donations. Services may be free or low cost for qualifying clients.

They operate under the idea that a solid meal, clean sheets, and a safe place to sleep can make a transformative difference in anyone’s life. However, they don’t stop at the bare necessities. Here, clients have access to top of the line amenities, including a well appointed dining facility, workout area, and comfortable, quiet living spaces.

While living at the Center, clients can engage in residential treatment services to help them learn more about their addictions, identify triggers, and work through any underlying psychological conditions, such as depression and anxiety, that might contribute to their substance use. They may also engage in educational programming and life skills training to develop the knowledge and tools they need for long term recovery.

On their website, they’ve shared testimonials from past clients who have gone through the program. Many claim that the treatment they receive completely changed their lives and taught them how to become productive members of society. They explain that while they had the desire to get sober, they didn’t have the real tools to do so until they came here.

I would not recommend this place unless it was the only one in the area, most not all but most of the staff don't know how to do there job nor do the people care about your sobriety or even you as a person, all they see is dollar signs not individual people that need rehabilitation back into society, I mean the place is literally ran by addicts, ex addicts (Staff) and they even hand out your medicine and are the ones that have access to it , they don't hire LPN's or RN's to administer med's and I had med's go missing but I could go on and on but Il just say honest to the Lord above i think the place was one of those get rich quick schemes off insurance money, set up really poor and thats sad because a lot of people won't be rehabilitated because CEO wouldn't put a little bit of effort into it and hire some quality staff that knows what they are doing and care and when something requires a little bit of effort whether it be ID birth certificate social security cards the kind of things people need to get back on their feet and get back out in the real world be a productive citizen to society , I love everyone there but have to be honest and hopefully this helps someone ...12/3/24 update take with a grain of salt beside who am I to review anything maybe it's just the times we live in Smile GOD loves you and so do I - -

Morning you know this place will not feed you they will not provide you hygiene they will not provide you writing utensils or supplies at all whatsoever they don't provide you much of nothing and then the classes are a joke it's pretty much just everybody arguing with each other with nothing that has to do with recovery at all but then they want to try to enforce the rules on you they will literally control your entire life I'm warning you of that now they will take your phone whenever they want to take your phone it doesn't matter if you're paying the bill or not they'll act like they're the ones paying the bill they will tell you where you can go they will tell you where you cannot go they will tell you when to wake up they will tell you that you can't do this you can't do that it will tell you can talk to who you can't talk to they will tell you who you can be in a relationship with who you can't the breathalyze you for no reason because they "spell beer or something" when everybody passes the breathalyzer you'll get drug tested like 5 or 6 times a week and they are really controlling it's sick... I would definitely not recommend going here unless you have to because they are very vindictive! The people that are mean emotionless and like I said before vindictive beyond belief! They kick me out of the program because I wanted to enjoy my birthday weekend with a really really good friend of mine I haven't seen in a long time!

They helped me get clean, and taught me alot. It has its ups & downs There was a lot to offer that gave me the tools I needed to stay clean. I graduated from their program in October 2021 and I m still clean. They had some amazing employees & some that were questionable. My only complaint is that a couple employees shouldn t be allowed to be in charge of recovering addicts. Again that s based on back in 2021 so that may have changed. Overall I will recommend them to anyone seeking recovery, for sure.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This used to be a great place where people cared about you and your recovery but it is far from that now. It's a money racket.

My sister stayed at this treatment facility and had to go to the hospital for her insomnia medication from there. I called to get her stuff and they said I could come get it but I got sick so I couldn't for a week or two later. So I called again and they said I could go get it and after driving over there (thankfully I only live in north knoxville and the facility is in West knoxville) but they didn't have her stuff. As I looked around there were so many bags of items and I couldn't help but think how many people they do this to while using tax payer insurance to pay th r it bills they al s o rob and not help these people at all! All of the the bags were not labeled with names and I called to tall to a house manager and never got a call back or concerned that her phone and foodstamp card was just stolen. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
