I seen phychotherapist Susie Rood. I had a decent experience with her. She went on medical leave I was told when she came back she would be reaching out to schedule appointments. She came back and had not reached out for a week. I reached out multiple time and got no one which could very well be that they were on lunch or busy. When I did get through to someone I was told that her schedule was full and the receptionist would need to speak with Susie to see if she could put me back on her schedule. I reached out for 2 days and was told she would call me back. When I received no call back I went there on 4/17 and was told that there was a letter that was sent put but the receptionist didn't know what it said but that Susie was with a client and would be done with 20 minutes and would be out to speak with me so I could wait if I wanted to. So I waited. Once she was done and came to speak with me Susie told me that she didn't think I needed therapy anymore. I said thank you and walked out. I received the letter they sent me today stating that they no longer accept my secondary insurance. Which was badgercare. They said nothing about my primary and never asked me the multiple times if called or the time I went in that my insurance was an issue. This was very unprofessional and I will never recommend this place to anyone. The fact that she told me she thinks I don't need therapy instead of telling me that my insurance was very unprofessional.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

The goal of drug rehab in Wisconsin is to address drug addiction as a complex issue that involves physical, mental, and relational aspects. During rehab, treatment focuses on each of these areas and gives you the tools you need to achieve and maintain sobriety.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Had an appointment set up with Austin Gonzalez, and during the appointment I was constantly told not to be dishonest even though I trusted them with very sensitive information about my life. I then waited for the next appointment to be set up, and even called back, but I keep getting the voicemail. None of my messages got a response. I'm not surprised by the lack of professionalism since others have mentioned their experience and I should have listened. I would not recommend this place.

Update 5/7/22: Very much a real review. Did not expect anything else from this place.Update: Was willing to give this place a second chance for one of my children. Dr. Courtney Derus and Dr. Elmergreen come across as very fake and insincere, not including horrible care. And the older one, who I think is the grandmother to Dr. Derus, her name is Kandace, is probably the worst one. Very fake, very unhelpful, and poor care. Stay aware from here. Some of the worst providers in the area. Why is Dr. Rothweiler the only one from this clinic that's still open and seeing clients? Seems pretty irresponsible for a healthcare provider to not be taking the stay-at-home-order seriously when he could just as easily still clients using some sort of telehealth. I have a family member who goes to this clinic and I know they see the therapist on their laptop, so why doesn't Dr. Rothweiler? Why is he unnecessarily putting the public at risk? I will be contacting the news stations about this!

I scheduled my first telehealth appointment with Julie Gruenwald for 4 pm on a weekday. She completely stood me up for the appointment, I did not receive a call or email canceling my appointment. I called the Elmergreen office at 4:15 and 4:30 (during business hours when the office should have been open) and it went directly to voicemail, I left messages explaining that I was completely stood up. They waited until 3:30 the next day to reach out to me, they did not provide an explanation or apology for the no show. As a professional service provider myself I can't imagine standing up a client and then not immediately trying to rectify the situation. The whole situation shows a lack of professionalism not only from the counselor but from firm as a whole in addition to a lack of respect for client's time. - UPDATE two and a half weeks after the incident the provider called and apologized personally to me, I appreciated that and I think it speaks to a lack of professionalism of the firm and not necessarily the provider.
