About EJAL Health Services

EJAL Health Services offers methadone maintenance treatment in an outpatient setting to help people struggling with opioid use. Opioid recovery is best achieved in an environment built on trust, support and expert guidance. EJAL provides that supportive and caring space where healing can take place. EJAL Health Services is located in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

They’re located 10 miles south of Baltimore with an estimated 20 to 25 minutes driving time. The area is accessible via Light RailLink and MTA bus services as well. This makes it easy for people from nearby Severna Park, Hanover and Pasadena to access treatment here. Sawmill Creek Park, Fort Smallwood Park and the historic Glen Haven Memorial Park are great natural spots nearby that can add fun to your healing journey in this city.

Methadone is an FDA approved med that is used in both detox and maintenance treatment. It alleviates withdrawal symptoms and cravings, enabling you to focus on recovery completely. The med is normally backed up with counseling to help tackle the emotional and psychological aspects of opioid use. This integrated approach ensures holistic healing that frees your mind and body from the harmful impact of opioid use. Methadone maintenance is a long term treatment geared towards abstinence.

EJAL Health Services recognizes how hard opioid addiction can be on people and their families. They therefore provide personalized and holistic care. This ushers you into a new life free from opioid dependence. It also helps you reenter the community as positive and independent.

The clinic also offers guest dosing services. This benefits patients from other programs who are traveling and need to maintain their treatment plan. They strive to make your guest dosing experience as smooth and comfortable as possible. The best part is that they accept cash, credit cards and Maryland Medicaid. This enhances convenience and makes their services accessible.

It’s also great that they accept walk-ins. Although appointments can reduce your wait time. Most past clients only have beautiful things to say about this clinic. This reflects an overall impressive care. This is also validated by their CARF accreditation.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Once a person has become addicted to a substance, drug rehab in Maryland is often necessary to overcome that addiction. These programs provide the tools individuals need to manage the physical, mental, and emotional issues involved and begin a successful recovery journey.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Strict, but at the same time laid back staff. On my very first day there so many years ago I knew I was in the right place because I was treated by humans. Good place to go to for help with addictions

I have been a patient here since 2014. I have stayed clean since day 1 and this was my 13 th treatment and nothing else has worked . There was always stigma about methadone and I only wish I had done it sooner. I have now went to nursing school , purchased my home, gotten married and my life wouldn t be this way without the help of ejal. I truley feel appreciated and cares for there. Only issue is I miss Mr . Johnny being there to cheer me on through school and brag about me everytime I came there. He would tell everyone, this girl is proof of success !! Man would he be proud now . Anyway, if you need help with getting clean and reaching goals , these people will give this to you . They are more like family and even tho we see a lot of new faces theee days, they all seem to be at the same standard . Thank you ejal for giving me a chance at life . Because of your help , I am a good mom again, I am a hard working member of society again, I get to wake up everyday proud of who I am . I could never find the right words to say !!

Thank you so much for sharing your story, Christina. You moved several of us to tears. It has been an absolute pleasure watching you flourish. If ever we need a reason to get out of bed and do what we do, it is success stories like yours that provide that extra motivation. We all miss Johnny, and you are right he would be very proud.

This place isn t concerned with your recovery, only how long they can keep you coming back and paying them every week. Every time I tried to go down in dosage, there was some hoop to jump through. Sign an against medical advice form, still have to see their doctor when I want to go down in dose. Only time it s easy to go down dosage is when you don t pay on time, then they are quick to take you down. State sponsored drug dealers

Thank you for the honest feedback! We hope you are doing well. EJAL and other Opioid Treatment Programs are bound by law to strict safety procedures regarding medication and dosages. We will always try to advise clients against any rapid change in dose that is not medically indicated. If a client tapers off their medication against medical advice in less than 21 days (5% per day) for any reason, we do not charge them any fee. We do ask them to visit with our physician so that we can explain the risks of rapid tapering, and to sign necessary releases. Regarding payment of fees, we always try to work with our uninsured / self-pay clients to meet them halfway. We help them obtain benefits they might qualify for which may help cover some or all of their treatment, and failing that, our owners are always available to discuss payment arrangements. We also do not ever pursue collections actions against former clients. At EJAL, we believe personal finances should never be a barrier to necessary treatment. We're truly sorry for the negative experience you had with us in 2023. If we ever cross paths again, we hope to make it right.

Only problem I really have/continue to have with this place is they close every time it sprinkles!! Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit but damn if there's any chance of the weather not being perfect they're closed! Now that would be fine being that we get extra take-homes but they don't call us to inform us that they're going to be closed! This has happened on numerous occasions, not only with myself but with other patients as well (seeing their frustration and talking to them in the parking lot) and when brought to their attention I get to BS excuses! No reasonable explanation!

Response from the owner5 months ago
Hi Keith! Thank you for the honest feedback. We wanted to let you know that we share your frustration regarding surprise closings. We only close when the state permits based on the forecast, and we try our hardest to reach every client and notify them. We also post notices to our website and google business listing. You can also now sign up for automated text message notifications from us so that you can be the first to know of any closure. We apologize for the negative experience you had with us in 2023. We hope to make it right if we get the chance!

Stay Away. Other clinics much cheaper.

Response from the owner5 months ago
Hi Crystal! We hope you are doing well. We wanted to let you know that EJAL does offer competitive fees for self-pay clients with other programs in Maryland. We also offer assistance to our uninsured clients with obtaining any benefits they might qualify for. The fees we collect from our clients go directly to improving our services, our facilities, and employing experienced clinical staff. We are truly sorry for your negative experience with us in 2022. If we ever cross paths again, we hope to make it right!

Terrible experience. The insurance lady accused me of lying about having insurance. I have Medicaid but for some reason the billing wasn t going through so she accused me of lying about having Medicaid in the first place. I had to go get a letter stating that I was indeed on Medicaid. Absolutely unacceptable behavior from them. And after all that the kicked me out and transferred me to another clinic. She should have been fired for that but instead I m the one who gets thrown out and I didn t do a single thing wrong. It s their fault for not billing my insurance correctly and for calling me a liar for no reason other than a hunch. That s the most un professional behavior I ve ever seen. I don t get how they can say such things without even the slightest bit of proof at all. She sure looked like a fool when I came back the next day with the letter proving my enrollment. I mean anyone with even a hint of intelligence would realize how stupid they would look if they happen to be wrong. Do not go here all they care about is money the couldn t care less about your recovery.

If you would like to communicate directly with one of the owners, please message us privately and give us a way to reach you directly.
