About The Edna House for Women

Edna House is a Cleveland, Ohio sober living home for women who need a supportive, substance-free environment to focus on their recovery. This facility offers sober housing and aftercare.

Upon arrival, the client is given a house buddy and is introduced to how the house operates, i.e. chores. Additionally, the resident receives rides to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings. Throughout their stay, clients attend job-skills training, employment assistance, AA meetings, and local volunteer opportunities.

Aftercare services aim to provide additional resources that help prevent relapse. Resources in this program typically include peer support groups, recovery education, and program referrals. Alumni of Edna House are encouraged to be a mentor to newcomers to the house.

Edna House accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance. Approved private insurance providers include Kaiser Permanente, Bright Health, Wellmark, HCSC, and TRICARE. Individuals with out-of-network benefits are advised to contact their providers to verify coverage before enrolling in any type of drug rehab or recovery program.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs offer robust wraparound care for clients who are stepping down from intensive inpatient care, with many facilities providing multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living/halfway housing, and standard outpatient programming. Clients may also elect to enroll in outpatient care immediately after completing inpatient detox. Those who are at lower risk of withdrawal complications may also choose to receive ambulatory medical detox from an outpatient facility. Outpatient programs typically involve addiction counseling, recovery education, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as art and music therapy, are commonly available.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are designed for clients who need frequent, high-level care but do not require, or choose to forgo, inpatient treatment. Most intensive outpatient rehabs offer a minimum of nine hours of treatment weekly, though clients may receive up to 20 hours of care as needed. These programs typically combine various treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction and recovery education, and evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.

12-step icon12-Step

Many treatment centers base their recovery models on the 12 step programming standard, which combines intensive peer support with spiritual, psychological, and emotional growth. Participants in 12 step recovery programs are expected to regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and open to the public. They are also required to select a sponsor to guide them through the recovery journey. These programs deploy spiritual principles to foster participants' self-understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox involves clearing your body of drugs and/or alcohol under the 24/7 care of licensed medical professionals. If you've become dependent on alcohol or drugs (like benzodiazepines or opioids), quitting abruptly can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects. The purpose of medically assisted detox is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible during this process. Medications like Suboxone or Vivitrol may be provided if necessary to mitigate any withdrawal symptoms.

The Edna House for Women is the best! It is a safe place to heal and to grow while living in a supportive and structured environment. The recent renovations have turned an already very special home into a beautiful place to live while beginning a new life in sobriety. They offer all of this without requiring money or having health insurance to get into the program. This house saves lives!!!

Edna helped save my life. I am a sober woman of honor and dignity because of the things I learned from the woman who come there, the woman who run it and the woman who live there. I am forever grateful for the Edna House.

I've never been through their program, but I stopped by Edna's House today and WOW! This sober living home is gorgeous! And the staff that I met are wonderful and helpful. Many ladies at the home have come from all over the country to heal here I will recommend this place to future clients that need help.In order to come live here, you only need to call. Call and they will do an interview/assessment and let you know if there is space available. The living facility is a "3 Phase" program. Phase 1 can house 25 women.Phase 2 can house 25 women.Phase 3 (in a separate building) can house 10 women.Phase 1 of the program is 90 days, and women cannot have a job; they must focus on themselves. But food and everything is provided Phase 2 of the program, women must start work, but food and everything is still provided. There is NO MAX time that you can be here, too.The building is beautiful and looks newly renovated with a beautiful updated kitchen. There's even a courtyard with picnic tables outside.

The recidisivm rate there is off the charts. Favoritism is in full swing. There is no time to be by yourself, it's loud and disorganized.
