About Easterseals MORC

Easterseals MORC in Auburn Hills, Michigan, offers behavioral health services in English or Spanish for adults. They provide a comprehensive array of services that address substance use disorders and mental health conditions. The services are provided regardless of your ability to pay. Outpatient care includes medication assisted treatment (MAT) and individual, family, and group therapy.

Your treatment usually begins with a comprehensive assessment that may include a psychiatric evaluation by a case management team. A customized treatment plan can include crisis intervention, peer recovery, and medication management depending on your needs. The Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic focuses on integrating trauma-informed care, recovery, and physical behavioral health needs to address the whole person.

Integrated care is essential to treat adults and children with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your program may include evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, (CBT) dialectical behavior treatment (DBT), and psychosocial rehabilitation. Their comprehensive plan includes nursing services, community living support, and integrated healthcare services.

There are also peer programs for youths and adults. This way, you’ll partner up with someone who understands what you’re going through and can share their experiences. Your buddy can stay with you even when you graduate from the program.

They also provide services to underinsured, underserved, and low-income individuals and families. They offer services to Veterans of the armed services and those with complex health profiles. If your symptoms are acute your treatment plan may include access to mobile crisis units and crisis intervention and stabilization.

They accept most major insurance plans, Medicaid, and offer a sliding scale fee for those who qualify.

Worst place possible to go for your children/ very bad communication skills/ they have no accountability for their actions/ therapist will put words in the child's mouth to make them radicated in their sessions so they can prolong services/when you complain they keep it all in the same building as they all work together to triangulate them doing wrong doing/ fortunately I have a remedy. When having parent/ child sessions the therapist will bring up legal talk/ they will even try to make the child feel guilty for not sating what the therpist what's them to say....... this therapist knows exactly who she is and she's about to be accountable for.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. ESM provides evaluation and assessment to determine the most effective approach to improve mental health and wellness of the people they serve.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
postpartum-program thumbnail image
Postpartum Program
The postpartum period is a sensitive time, especially for women in addiction recovery. Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Dr. David Gendernalik works there I am told. He is a nasty criminal who perpetrated the life time offense Felony "Torture" against me for 2 years straight. I pray some day he is held accountable and arrested and jailed as well.

Terrible place. The psychiatrist that I saw here didn't take into account my chronic health conditions and tried prescribing me SSRIs after I told her I had an allergic reaction to Lexapro in the past. She's like, oh, they're not the same. Went to pick up the Paxil she prescribed me instead and the pharmacist refused to fill it due to my allergy. But whatever, they're looking out for you, right? Also in 6 months time (if even that long) I went through 4 therapists because they all kept leaving. With my last one, I had completely forgotten I had a Cardiologist appointment and texted her asking to reschedule. Never heard a word from her and got a letter a few weeks later saying they pretty much dropped me. Good riddance, goodbye.

Please don't go here. God forbid if you or your family member need assistance, you can't get past the receptionists who seem to think they hold medical degrees. You ask to speak to your psychiatrist and it's "let's schedule a follow-up for 2 weeks out". That's great and all, but doesn't help the here and now. You cant even leave a voicemail! This is the 2nd time in the last few months, I have tried to speak to my sons providers and can't get past the front desk, despite his psychiatrist stating to call the front desk and ask them for her email for me to email her any concerns. Go somewhere else!

This place is AWFULLLLL. My son was a patient here for a year and it was pointless as hell. Dr. Faust (psychiatrist) didn t listen to ANYTHING I told him when it came to the medications and how my son was acting. Always cut me off, and come to find out nothing I ever told him seemed to be documented and I only found that out because the psychiatrist we switched to towards the ends of our run was SHOCKED there was nothing on file I was referring to when we had appointments with her.Front staff always made me laugh to because they want you to put on a mask but half of them are sitting there without one,That s all

Response from the owner1 year ago
Destiny, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We will be looking into this. Dr. Faust is a beloved psychiatrist with many years of service and this review is a little surprising to read as it is not something we have heard before. This review has been sent to the director of the location to see where the breakdown may have been. As for the masks, I'm not sure when you were there last but they are not encouraged nor are they worn by a majority of our staff. Some staff with pre-existing health conditions may request that a mask is worn for their own safety but that is very rare.

Do not take a child here. Constantly threats to call CPS on you. They do not help kids with mental illness whatsoever. I thought I would give easter Seals a second chance, but nope still the same they do not care. Therapist also do not help same threats.

As an organization that has been serving families for over 100 years, with the goal of helping families to remain together, your review is alarming. Please feel free to contact our director of communications and outreach at 248.475.6413. In the meantime, we will be sharing your review with the team to look into this.

Unable to start services for my child due to therapist not having later availability. When asked to change they said none of them had availability. I tried to reach out to multiple people case worker, therapist etc heard nothing back. Never had a issue before been going here with my other child for years but it is starting to become a non helpful place. Just sad it has to be considered high risk to get mental help for your child.

I am a skeptic when it comes to doctors and clinicians because of past experience with both myself and my children. But I can say with total confidence that Easterseals has done an amazing job helping my daughters and myself cope and adapt in a healthy way to live successfully in todays world. I can t imagine being a teenager now a days, and as a parent, I would do anything to help my girls get through these tough years. Colleen has done a wonderful job helping us communicate even if it s uncomfortable for both of us. She helped save my beautiful daughter from going into a very dark place. I see some do not share the same experiences we have with Easterseals, but I ve been in and out with my girls over the years, and between the staff, docs, and therapists, they have all done an amazing job, considering what they too, have to deal with day in and day out. At times my girls had to change therapists in the middle of treatment, but they did an alright job matching them with someone similar. And if they are ready and willing to change, and it s explained that stuff like this happens, we got through it. It s hard to keep constant staff on hand all the time, so I understood. Thanks for all the help easterseals. You have a 5 star review from my family!!

This place is full of the most disgusting people. Highly recommend not dealing with this place. I had taken my child here only to realize these people unhygienic. The bathrooms were disgusting. NEVER taking my child here again.

Response from the owner2 years ago
We are very sorry to hear that you didn't have a pleasant experience at our location. We are currently looking into this. While we normally clean our locations frequently, we ramped up the cleaning schedule due to COVID. Most of our locations are cleaned daily, even multiple times a day. Our bathrooms are open to employees and the people that we serve. If the bathrooms were in poor condition, it's likely that it was cleaned shortly after we found out as we try to have all of our locations remain clean, safe, and welcoming to everyone. If you would like to discuss this a little further, we'd love to talk to you. Please call our director of communications at 248.475.6413.

We have been going here for years. We ve seen a few doctors and therapists. I have never had any issues with any of the staff, doctors, or therapists. We re always treated well. If you re looking for pediatric/ adolescent care I highly recommend Dr. Greer. As far as therapists go Sarah Mathew and Elissa Redman are amazing!
