About Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee

Saint Francis Hospital provides mental health and addiction treatment to men and women in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Their services are for adults and seniors who need additional support to overcome challenges related to their well-being. Saint Francis Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient treatment.

The inpatient program at Saint Francis Hospital is for men and women age 60 and older who need to be in a medical setting while receiving mental and behavioral healthcare. Their services are for those struggling with depression, anxiety, dementia, and general medical concerns. Areas of concern for the aging are addressed. Stabilization is a priority, along with establishing a foundation for long-term recovery and health.

The outpatient program is for those who do not need to be inpatient and who are able to receive and benefit from treatment services while remaining at home. This level of service offers individual and group counseling services.

Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with the addiction. With the help of a professional, individuals are given the space and direction to talk about and process their emotions. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life.

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehabs provide extra support for clients in early recovery and those at a high risk of relapse. They allow clients to focus on their sobriety safe from outside distractions, stressors, and addiction triggers. Clients reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, where they receive extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Many programs also offer robust life skills training and holistic therapies, such as meditation.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Oklahoma is highly recommended for those beginning recovery. As your body detoxes, withdrawal from substances such as alcohol, benzos, and opiates can cause severe physical symptoms. Health risks include seizures, hallucinations, heart palpitations, and severe dehydration. A clinical setting offers 24/7 medical care to treat these symptoms and make the detox process more comfortable.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I was trying to set up an appointment for my son and got transferred to the ER for some reason and when the lady who works in the ER got on the phone she was very rude and disrespectful and actually hung up on me while I was talking to her. They definitely need to work on picking the right staff or teach them how to talk to people

HORRIBLE HOSPITAL COULD SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILL PEOLE BY NOT LISTENING!!!My husband was brought in by our 16 year daughter and sister in law while I was out of town.He went in due to horrible pain in his lower back and down his right side. Now as a back story my husband also has a Hemiplegic migraines which mimic a stork. They do not cause him any pain.these episodes cause his whole left side to stop working. He's had these episodes for over two years. Now when my sil and daughter took him in the nurses in triage acted like he was faking it which caused him to stress out. Once he got stressed it trigger him to have an episode. The staff ignored my daughter as she tried to explain what was happening. She would know she lives with him everyday.Told her to be quiet while they figured this out. My sil was stuck in the waiting room since only 1 person could be with him.My husband could not speak due to his whole left side not working. They kept telling him to put pressure on his left foot, which he could not since he could not move his left side.Again my daughter tried to tell them and again they ignored her.Once they finally got him onto a bed my husband was able to tell my daughter through typing out on her phone to get my sil.Once she was back there she tried to explain why they were there that it was not for the Hemiplegic migraines but, his horrible pain. The doctor came in and all he wanted to talk about was my husband's episodes ignoring his pain. Finally after over an hour they gave him some pain meds but, still tried to get him into a head CT.When my husband refused and got upset and waved his arm around to try to communicate that no he did not need his head scanned he needed them to look at his right side and back..the doctor threatened to call security that my husband was causing a scene. It took them 4 hours, 4 hours of my husband being in pain, 4 hours of them ignoring his sister and our daughter for them to finally do an ultrasound on his side to see he had a kidney stone.I am thankful that his pain was not something more serious where they could have seriously hurt my husband. We will never be going back here again.

Got told I was having anxiety and to stop coming in. It was preeclampsia. My dad s monitor would beep for 10-15 minutes at a time in icu until he died.My grandma got discharged with 3 broken spine pieces, broken pelvis and head injury. You have to be in the waiting area for 10-15 hours. Not exaggerating. They tried to talk my father in law into signing a DNR on my brother in law before he was brain dead.Go to wagoner instead. It s a 10 minute longer drive but they actually care about their patients. Their patients aren t a paycheck to them.

This hospital sends someone with multiple fractures home with no pain medication. Hospital would not admit patient even though they re bedridden, unable to move, and the ENTIRE family of the patient and the patient themself wish for the hospital to admit them. Don t let anyone you care about be sent to this ER. They do not care. They will only treat you good if someone in your family has sued them, because they re scared of being sued again. They do not care about their patients.

Keisha an RN in the ER was very helpful and kind, she even went above and beyond to help make sure I get discharged soon enough to get to the pharmacy to get my medications, and she even called the pharmacy for me. She's an Amazing nurse. Thank you Keisha and God Bless you for what you do to help me and others.

I usually love this hospital. But this last weekend. I took my husband in with major cancer pain. We sat in the hallway for hours. The er dr. Was kinda rude. She was telling us things when she was called away. When she finally made it back to us, she rudely said, " I told you guys to make a decision!" In which im sorry I am not hearing impaired. I never heard those words from her before she was rudely interrupted for another patient. We ended up in a side room in the er for 12 hours before they got him a room.I told each nd everyone of them how sensitive he was to medicine, BUT NO ONE WOULD LISTEN!.Upstairs, i was asking the so-called attending physician that he needed a patch or cream for the pain. He proceded to tell me he was a dr and he could write perspirations for anything. I apologize and said im sorry. i wasn't aware that you could write such a prescription for something like that. I figured it would have to be oncology.Well, then they came in as soon as they figured out that we had a medical Marijuana card. They busted thru the door, asking if we were smoking weed! Even sent security in on us.I kept telling that so-called dr that if he couldn't eat, he wasn't gonna hold any pills down. But you know im just a stupid old lady, right? No, actually, i was schooled by my mother, who was a nurse for 35 years. I also cared for a 400 lb bed bound mother in law who had many bad conditions by myself i bathed her. Kept her clean and got her to where she was diabetic free for 1 year before she passed. My father in law i took to the va every 6 months for his check-up and blood work for 20 years. They never caught his cancer. But I took care of him as well. And it is so sad to say that I have absolutely no degree in medicine, but obviously, i know a lot more than those with a degree thay went for the money and not to actually to help people. And the Drs bedside manners are absolutely horrible! Who just walks in and tells a person you are ate up with cancer then simply walks off. With absolutely no support from them and no care. When we got upstairs he had a nurse named MacKenzie that was actually awesome. She actually listened and understood! The aide he had was amazing. Those two need a raise! Also noticed that one person who has posted here hasn't even gotten a response from the hospital to even say they were sorry for their poor reviews

Behavioral health Dr. Justin Rankin ordered my 93 year old grandmother to behavioral lockdown unit. She is almost completely blind, bed ridden, 73 pounds, diagnosed vascular dementia, congestive heart failure, Parkinson s and several other issues! She had just recovered in ICU and medical after 8 days (note: she had been in BH and was sent to ICU because BP bottomed out after two days in BH)Rankin, then made a 2nd order to return her to go back to BH unit, a recommendation she go to a skilled facility was made by medical or hospice. She was not allowed to have any items of familiarity, visits fromFamily and just complete seclusion! She was moved 5 times in 8 days!!!!Immediate family had a plan for hospice care at home (her precious medical doctor (Ndebbio) agreed that this would be the best medicine). My grandmother s POA is her step-son and he requested BH, even after she ended up in ICU from BHU just a few days prior! WHO does this to a person!??? WHAT kind of person does this!!!!? She is the absolute sweetest lady you will ever meet!!! Dr. Rankin made his evaluation and order after a tele-visit with a blind, bed ridden, dementia patient !!!!It is UNBeLiEVAble that having dementia removed her rights!!! I am appalled that a PSYCHIATRIST would even think this was the best way to treat her!!! She is kind, loving, loves Jesus, sings, loves to talk and absolutely precious! If I could give a negative star rating I would! It is disgusting and shameful to do this to a helpless person!!!!My mother, my brother and I were not allowed to call and check on her! She was alone and surrounded by strangers once again. Shame on you, Rankin!!!! Absolutely sickening!!!*note: I was granted immediate guardianship and she is no longer at this unit!!! She has her family surrounding her!
