This place is full of counselors who are not at all personal. Nobody here is on the same page. If you come here for depression or anxiety you will leave worse. Nurse Tracy tries her best but the disconnect between the counselors and her creates a dangerous situation. I have been canceled on and stood up so many times by the counselor assigned to me. And in order to continue receiving your medications the NP prescribes you have to speak to these flaky counselors . So here I am after not having meds for a month (very serious medications prescribed to them by me that cause things like suicidal ideation when stopped) being refused a clinic appointment until I see this counselor who is supposed to call for appointments. It s an endless cycle of calling waiting for them to get on the same page, not receiving promised calls back, and confusion between staff.

This is the worst mental health facility in the world. Theyve changed my therapist twice due to them quitting and the doctors and nurses never call you during your APPOINTMENT TIME. I was called during one of my final project presentations an hour before my appointment with the doctor. I called back letting them know that I physically could not answer the phone but I was ready now (at my appointment time). The nurse told me that the doctor left for the day and that I have to answer calls on his time and the next appointment wouldnt be for months. All while I have no medication. Not to mention that the therapist seems completely disinterested in anything I have to say and asks me in every appointment if I m still hearing voices when I have never said I hear voices. Its patronizing and annoying. Find somewhere else.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs are often considered the standard model for addiction recovery. They're based on the use of spiritual principles to support a gradual psychological, emotional, and spiritual shift to remediate the root causes of one's addiction. Treatment depends primarily on per coaching (sponsorship) and group recovery meetings. Though rooted in spiritual principles, participants do not need to be religious and sessions are non-denominational. Specialized groups, including meetings for seniors, teens, and family members, are often available.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Alabama provides medical or psychotherapeutic treatment for drug dependency. Methods of treatment often include a combination of medication, counseling, and recreational therapies.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
postpartum-program thumbnail image
Postpartum Program
The postpartum period is a sensitive time, especially for women in addiction recovery. Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy in Alabama is to lessen the symptoms of certain mental health conditions, including substance abuse and co occurring mental health disorders. It is known as one of the most effective means of treatment for these conditions.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a form of talk therapy designed to treat individuals who are experiencing intense emotions. It is often used in Alabama for the treatment of borderline personality disorder, substance use disorder, and other mental health conditions.

Rehab treatment in Alabama often involves motivational interviewing (MI). This is an evidence based approach that helps you discover your own interest in change. You'll decide for yourself what next steps you're willing to commit to in order to reach your goals.

The counselors and people at the front desk are completely unprofessional. The treatment provided is laughable, they haven't been able to diagnose me correctly and provide the correct treatment and medication. WIll definitely go somewhere else.

I went here a few times. They never offered to help me. I just went and talked, expecting some advice or meds but none was offered. I always left feeling like my time was wasted and no better off. Wouldn't recommend.

This is the absolute WORST experience I have EVER had with any physicians office. I have been scheduled then cancelled, they have lost my appointment several times, I cannot get ANYONE to help me and I need help!! For a place that is supposed to be helping people you are 100% FAILING!!!! I have been trying to get my meds filled and talk to a counselor for over a month now and still cannot get help. It's extremely disheartening when you have mental health issues and no one will help you. Do not even bother with this place. I'm now about to be out of meds and have to try to find another doctor. Thanks for making a manic depressive person worse off East Central Mental Health.
