DOT Caring Centers - Residential MI 48623

About DOT Caring Centers, Inc.

DOT Caring Centers – Residential is a private alcohol and drug rehab center for adults in Freeland, Michigan. They offer medical detox and residential treatment in a private, homey setting. You can also get specialized support if you have a co-occurring condition such as a mental or physical illness. They accept Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state funds. They also offer low cost treatment options based on your income. You’ll never be turned away because you can’t pay.

Their residential treatment program lets you escape the life stressors and emotional triggers that might have contributed to your addiction. Their medical detox program helps you withdraw from substances safely and comfortably. You’ll receive round the clock medical supervision and FDA approved medicines to ease your symptoms.

Their residential treatment program supports whole person healing by using a wide range of therapies to include individual and group counseling, recovery education and life skills training, meditation and other complementary approaches, and 12 Step treatment models. This helps you maintain your sobriety across the long term because you’ll have found healing in your mind, body, spirit, and even your relationships.

One of the best things about their program is the high level of support they offer. If you’re experiencing a crisis or an emergency you can get help immediately. If you’re more stable you can still enter treatment within about 48 hours. You can even get transportation assistance such as a bus pass or gas card to help you get to the treatment center as soon as possible. Once your residential treatment ends you can step down to one of their outpatient care facilities or you might engage in their other aftercare services for alumni.

Former clients praise the program for helping them change their lives for the better especially if you’re willing to lean in to your recovery. Others complain though that the staff could have provided better and more compassionate care.

Peggy was great. I know josh ignore him. Very kind lady, didn't put up with Bs or lies. I'm almost 9 months sober and happy. If you lie to peggys face, throw a fit and leave that's on you. The food is horrendous tho. And you end up hungry a lot which it's rehab thats not cool. 4 stars just because I had Peggy. No Peggy woulda rated 2.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Michigan is essential for certain phases of recovery treatment. During detox, many physical ailments related to the detox process can be lethal if not treated. Having medical staff available at all times provides the proper care for safe detox. Medications and other treatment can also make the process much more comfortable and bearable.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

As someone who has an associates degree in psychology, I can confirm that I was legitimately abused by a member my counselor Peggy. She ignored any attempt I made to get help in terms of making calls, getting my meds in time, and getting sessions with her when needed. If I could be given the option for 0 stars, I would provide that. The last straw was when I had an argument with my wife over the phone, and Peggy proclaimed that my wife was "Probably off cheating on me." If I could take her to court for the abuse I had to endure under her care, I absolutely would.

I would recommend this program to anyone that needs help or that is willing to give recovery a try. Thank you to my awesome Therapist Denise!! I appreciate you and everyone there! I was treated very well by the staff and my fellow recovering addicts. Some rules are a little ridiculous but it teaches us patience and to compromise. Thank you to you All!! I gained a lot of Knowledge and I feel very confident in my future as a recovering addict of almost thirty years of addiction. This was my second time being lucky to have gotten to get in this program. Thank you to all the staff for your great hospitality and wisdom.

If i could give 0 stars I would! For a place that IS suppose to be compassionate and caring, they sure do lack that in all departments. How is it ok for someone to be turned away asking for help from such a place. I hate the way the world has become. The people that work in this facility do not care about your well being, NOTHING. THEY ARE THERE FOR A PAYCHECK THATS ALL. Rude on the phone and in person...just completely rude and careless. Never in my life have been treated or witnessed such behavior from a place that is suppose to HELP PEOPLE!!...

This place helped me tremendously...especially my Therapist Ken...he taught me a lot about addiction and how it affects every aspect of your life...he really did save my life and i am thankful for that....the staff was nice and caring......when i needed someone to talk to there was always someone willing to listen...i wanna give a big thanks to everyone there...some of the rules need to be adjusted due to the fact that every shift has different rules but other than that it was a great experience...thanks for all you have done.

All in all, a fairly competent facility. As per the name, the staff do genuinely care about your well being. Many clients arrive with the misconception that they will be catered to 24 hours a day. This is not the case as it requires work and some compromise on the patient's end, as it should be. All together I was largely treated with dignity which I feel is key to sticking with a substance abuse program. My only gripes would be a severe lack of communication amongst the staff/management and questionable adherence to HIPAA laws. Beyond that, they do have at least one superb therapist (thank you Miss T.) and the bulk of the techs are very sweet. This is not a non-profit facility and the amenities are nicer than some but not the Shangri-La. Sadly, I witnessed a few patient's that assumed (wrongly) that this would be like a vacation. It is not. That being said, if you go in to inpatient therapy and put forth the effort, you will be rewarded with a healthier, functional lifestyle. Having personally attended three other residential facilities over the last 18 years, I can fairly say this ranks right up there in regards to the take away. Please bear in mind that there is NOT a medical professional on staff at all times. If you suffer from additional medical needs, I strongly suggest you orchestrate a plan with your family physician prior to entering treatment as it is all but impossible to seek medical help for anything beyond substance abuse without being discharged.
