About Domus Retreat

Domus Retreat is a private alcohol and opioid treatment program facility located in Anaheim Hills, California. With a maximum of 6 patients at one time, the center provides individually designed drug treatment programs based on an in-depth understanding of each person's needs.

Domus Retreat is a private rehab and recovery center located in a 6000 sq. ft. facility with only six private suites. The executive treatment program offers patients short-term and non-12-step alternatives for those struggling with substance-related issues, including dependence, addiction, and maintaining sobriety.

The six client ratio allows for one-on-one attention that is difficult to find anywhere else. Additionally, the ability to individualize the treatment and the length of stay creates significant benefits for those who are in need, but may be delaying treatment due to responsibilities.

The specialization in opioid use disorder treatment is the main element that distinguishes Domus Retreat from other addiction treatment facilities. We believe in treating patients with professionalism, respect, and understanding. Our team of clinicians and therapists work vigorously to ensure patients are well-taken care of and provided with the necessary tools and resources to succeed.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

PLEASE read this full post IN FULL. The welcome call enticing me to bring my daughter was nice. They would take good care of her. It was a nightmare. I would NEVER recommend this place. The doctor did not meet us when we arrived as we were told he would do. The admit was rushed on the paperwork. We were told over and over to hurry up. Two hours later with her in severe withdrawals they tried to sedate her. Then at 6 am the next morning she unhooked her IV s and took an elevator to the lobby in her hospital gown and walked past the receptionist who said hi to her, and out the front door with her fentanyl in hand. Not the promise of someone will be with her all the time as they said. No one obviously checked her bags. She got high, said hello to the security guard that she found and taken back up. This was a huge liability on their part. The rapid detox was a horrific experience. They stood by her, strapped her arms down which left bruises on her, and laughed at her. Then taken to DOMUS and again no one had checked her bags so she went outside and got high again. Another huge LIABILITY. She left the facility, went to a SHADY hotel and got high again. I had to charter a private jet at 1am from Texas to California, 3 hour flight not knowing if I d find my daughter dead or alive. I was assured a phone call from Dr Lowenstein. NEVER received one. He is the owner, the anesthesiologist, the doctor. Why did they not check her bags? Why were they not with her all the time as promised to me? Why was this not a pleasant rapid detox as promised. Why was she not watched closely at Domus? Only two patients there. Who fell asleep on their job. I have many questions as all I see is neglect and out 24,800. I hope they slept well as I did not for three days. The private jet was not cheap. So I got to spend my life s savings on a bad choice to trust this facility to follow thru on ALL of their promises. WHO FORGOT TO CHECK HER BELONGINGS? She s the addict. They were supposed to be the responsible trained professionals. I guess I was the fool who trusted they would treat her professionally IDK I NEVER received the phone call nor the refund. Sleep well and I hope this post is read over and over. SHAME on you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. Although we cannot discuss a specific patient, we want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our patients are our top priorities. As part of our commitment to providing a secure and supportive environment, we diligently check all belongings upon admission. While it's true that we strive to ensure every individual is committed to their treatment journey, we recognize that people can be extraordinarily creative and sometimes manage to conceal items in unexpected ways. Despite our thorough efforts, there are limitations to where and how extensively we can search without infringing on personal privacy. Regarding your comments on patients pulling their own IVs to go downstairs at the hospital, we agree that this action can lead to bruising and other complications. It's also important to note that if a patient does use illicit drugs during their treatment, it significantly hampers their recovery process. The antagonists used in sedation detox are designed to counteract opioids, and any additional drug use can lead to adverse reactions and undermine the effectiveness of the treatment. We continuously strive to improve our protocols and practices to prevent such incidents, but unfortunately, there are challenges that are sometimes beyond our control. We are committed to learning from each experience and enhancing our environment to support the recovery journey of all our patients.
