About Dilworth Center

Dilworth Center is an alcohol and drug treatment facility in Charlotte, North Carolina that treats adults and adolescents. They’re staffed with healthcare professionals who have decades of experience, from masters level counselors to fully licensed therapists. The programs available for clients to participate in include an intensive outpatient program (IOP), a nurses aftercare treatment program and a professionals program.

The approach they take to treating clients is evidence-based and holistic. Treatment is available to clients struggling with substance use disorder (SUD) and co-occurring disorders. The facility has been designed to be comfortable and relaxing so patients can focus on growth and recovery. The area where the facility is located is discreet, so patients can trust that their treatment will be confidential. Dilworth Center accepts most major insurance plans for payment.

The IOP lasts for about 16 weeks and focuses on sustainable sober living, relapse prevention and mental health. The program has two levels of addiction treatment. Level One involves group therapy sessions and educational lectures. Level Two allows clients to build on what they learned in level one treatment and learn about relapse prevention strategies.

The evidence-based therapies used at Dilworth Center include motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and group counseling. These therapeutic approaches help patients have a more positive mindset and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

A unique thing about this facility is its kid’s program. The Dilworth Kids Program is designed to help children understand their parent’s substance use disorder and cope with it. One reviewer praised the staff members for being consistent in their support and being authentic and warm.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Instensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The young adult, 17-week treatment program offered by the Dilworth Center is designed to deliver effective and intensive chemical dependency treatment in a manner that allows participants and their families to continue their work, school and home routines.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs offer a complete continuum of care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are predicated on the idea that addiction disease is a chronic condition prone to relapse and warranting continuing care. Clients collaborate with their care team and case manager to access the specific rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety. Peer coaching, relapse prevention services, career counseling, and 12 step program induction are common in these programs.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. Chemical dependency seriously affects family members and loved ones. At the Dilworth Center, they believe they, too, should be offered compassionate understanding and help toward recovery.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Routine tasks are difficult for someone experiencing addiction. Daily skills deteriorate, which makes it harder to achieve recovery. That's why drug rehab programs in North Carolina reteach basic life skills. This gives you the tools you need to manage daily life without returning to substance use.

Dilworth Center was just what I needed, exactly when I needed it. I only have recovery experience so I can't help others decide what is right for them, but I can say that the Intensive Outpatient Prigram was right for me. I was able to get thr help that I needed while balancing my obligations.I'm glad I listened to those who suggested I check it out.
