I have found this facility to be a hidden jewel .when I was leaving the hospital I needed another week of IV ABT the Dr from the hospital sent me here. I read the online recommendation and being a retired nurse I was not looking forward to coming. I was very pleasantly surprised. The facility is very clean. No odor if they do your personal clothes, you get them back same day no later than next. The majority of CNA'S and nurses are very caring. The DON is easy to talk to. The care plan nurse makes sure the family and resident are involved in any decisions. The OT young lady is very sweet. The PT assistant is very persistent. As for dietary The breakfast is very good. They use cloth napkins here. As anywhere the meals depends on person's taste. If I ever have to go live in a facility I believe it would be here.

I worked here for about 5 months to cover a temporary leave in therapy and absolutely love this rehab and nursing facility. The therapy and restorative team is very experienced and caring. You're definitely in great hands with this them. I felt all the staff in other departments I interacted with or worked alongside is also great. They are approachable, friendly, and genuinely care, including nurses, CNAs, DON, administrator, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, the doctor who oversees many therapy patients, and transportation staff. There are a lot of move and groove groups or entertainers who make it a fun atmosphere that people can choose to go to. The place is kept clean, and the unique, vibrant style of the building makes you feel like you're on a cruise ship. I enjoyed getting to be a part of this great team and atmosphere during my time here.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Detox treatment varies, but it always involves 24-hour clinical care in Kansas. This supervision is necessary to ensure a safe detox process. Time frame for this level of treatment depends on the severity and type of the addiction. Common time frames include 5-day detox and 7-day detox. Rapid detox programs are also available that are as short as 24 hours. Regardless of the time frame, constant supervision by experienced staff is an essential component.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Physical withdrawal can be uncomfortable, and in severe cases, it can even be dangerous. In an inpatient environment, a medically assisted detox is performed by a team of licensed medical professionals who monitor your vitals, provide medications when necessary, and ensure your safety, health, and comfort during this process. Medical detox is usually the very first step in the recovery process.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

In family therapy, experienced therapists help family members navigate the challenges of addiction by fostering open lines of communication and mutual support. This approach strengthens the family unit and improves the effectiveness of the recovery process.

Good at making it seem like a great place, but deff red flags, nursing has changed. I feel so bad for the families bc their loved ones are not loved or cared for correctly, understaffed and overworked. Lots of neglect and abuse. So sad to see I'm sure the owners would be disappointed. Deff need better housekeeping res rooms floors dirty, urine smells, nurses and aids disappear for hours during night and eve...don't put a loved one here( also DON means well but she doesn't even know how to do her job yet alone make the people under her enjoy the work environment. Most staff had a bad attitude. I did too but we are a team and there was none of this here.Deff burn out, and pay sucks, as well as morning shift would always complaining about something. Good luck to whoever works here.

Take your family members out of this nursing home asap. You re not getting what you paid for. Other places will have them active, going and feeling alive still. The residents at this Delmar look miserable and bored. And, I wouldn t even let my enemy stay here.

Staff doesn t know what they are doing and give people false hope. Giving one excuse after another on why they can t take in a family member. One minute it s yes we can take your family member and then the next it s oh we can t. Last excuse was due to insurance which was a lie because family member had the proper insurance. Administration team was also rude and lacked professionalism.

In March I scoured the internet for all the KC skilled nursing home reviews I could find. I felt most impressed with Delmar s visit policy + their ability to clearly articulate how they corrected their bad reviews when I asked. We then placed my grandpa there to begin his stroke recovery. We have been very impressed with Delmar. They have been extremely patient with my grandpa. He came in with little speech ability. His needs were still always met, in a timely fashion.Nilufar, who coordinates the operations, has been responsive + supportive all of the way. There have been multiple times my grandfather needed to go to the hospital unexpectedly, and Delmar has been quick to make it happen, even once at 10pm at night. So if you re like I was in March, feeling like you re trying to have to take a shot in the dark while also very concerned over the care your loved one will receive, my family s experience with Delmar has proven to me it was the right shot for us.

Most dirtiest kitchen i ever seen

Response from the owner3 years ago
Hi Jim, we understand the low rating. We realized that we made a mistake and hired the wrong people who had the responsibility of keeping the kitchen clean along with other dietary duties. We are grateful that we now have the correct staffing in place and they are doing an amazing job! We are pleased to share we have zero deficiencies on our state survey which is virtually unheard of in this industry. Sincerely, your Delmar Gardens of Overland Park family.

Thank you Marie and Nilufar for our Christmas Card on behalf of my brother, George. You sent a beautiful card, an awesome pic of my bro', truly above and beyond! My Mom and Dad have not been able to visit my brother in months, I know this is something my Mom always assisted Geo with cards and stamps, keeping up w- his family, far and wide @ the Holidays. Thank you for your consideration and support for all the residents @ Delmar-OP. This wasn't my 1st card this year, my Dad shared one w- me @ Mother's Day. This is such a big deal for the families, your hearts and dedication speak volumes, your passion truly revealed through your action. You two are quite a team! My hope and prayer is that a team like Maria and Nilufar are present in every Delmar Gardens. Thank you so much! Warmest regards, George's sister - Linda McNamara (D.C.)

Hi Linda! Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review and sharing the kind words from you and your family. I immediately shared your lovely comments with Nilufar and the Activities Team! They were so thrilled to hear how their actions impacted your family in a big way. Although this past year gave each of us many challenges, it has always been in our hearts and actions to never lose sight of the ones we love and reason we are here to care for them. We cannot thank you and your family enough for your support! We look forward to welcoming you and other families back to our community for visits very soon!
