Horrible place broke my mothers brand new tv don t want to replace it staff nurses and can rude every time we visited she was in a hospital gown dirty laying on top of old food blood spots on her curtains from a injury that wasn t reported to family

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. If you are reading this and considering sending a loved one here, PLEASE DON T. My hope is that this place eventually closes and can no longer exploit the elderly, their families and the health care system. Upon admission here we were led to a dingy room at 8pm with a broken clock, tv, and sink faucet and then staff proceeded to fail at dispensing my fathers cancer and parkinson s medications because of their pharmacy communication (dangerous) with the hospital. In the following week he received ZERO physical therapy (just sat), he missed oncology and internal medicine appointments because of their transportation failures (while family was driving across the city to attend with him) and our family never had ANY communication with doctors or a care plan. When a meeting was finally to take place to discuss care, they said his discharge was that day. It s like the administration here is from another planet, but certainly know how to milk insurance money. Aside from a few kind nurses the staff was also extremely rude upon leaving and acted very inconvenienced when we asked any questions through their process during his stay. Patients and their families are ordinarily ignored or punted off to someone else without any resolution or answers. NOBODY takes responsibility for ANYTHING here. We are fortunate we had extra medication, because it also took them a full 36 hours to send discharge medication to a pharmacy. Again, dangerous games and they do not care. Their administration might be extremely understaffed, but nonetheless it is absolutely abhorrent how this place runs from top to bottom. THERE IS NOTHING SKILLED ABOUT THIS PLACE. DO NOT SEND ANYONE HERE TO GET BETTER. BEWARE.

My dad died at Delmar Gardens after leaving the hospital a week earlier. He was looking and feeling fine until the day after he got there and just got worse until he died. The nurse LEFT A MESSAGE on my voicemail letting me know he had passed. When I went to pick up his things most of them were missing including a blanket, a plant and his portable oxygen tank which were never found. I wish I hadn t trusted them to take care of my dad.

My husband was recently at Delmar Gardens Lenexa for an unplanned, 30 day respite stay. I say unplanned because I had to go to the hospital for an emergency heart issue. I was in ICU, then had a Pacemaker implanted. I was not going to be allowed to go home until I found someone or somewhere to place my husband. He has advanced Parkinsons and Dementia and I am his full time caregiver, but I could not take care of him at the time. I am very thankful that Delmar Gardens Lenexa took him in on such short notice. I was able to come home to recuperate, knowing that my husband was well cared for and safe. The staff was very nice and always willing to help with requests, which were hard sometimes because my husband can be difficult to communicate with. In particular, I want to commend nurses Suzie, Linda and Liz and helpers Frazer, Christiana and Mo and Operators Kelly and Milafar and Alicia the Social Worker. I will definitely recommend Delmar Lenexa to my friends.Sandy Schweikert

I truly enjoyed my 7 days at this beautiful place, the staff were very nice and respectful the room I was in could use an upgrade but the bed was very comfortable, the physical therapy staff was hard on me which is what I needed and very sweet, Lucus and Whitney the best! And the food was great and on time, when I get my other knee replacement surgery done next year I don't want to go no where else but this place DelMar Gardens you guys are truly amazing

If I could give this facility a rating of zero I would. During the time my mother was residing at Delmar Gardens, she developed a necrotic ( unstageable ) wound in one of her heels that went to the bone. It was about the size of a quarter in diameter. She also developed a stage 4 wound ( 5 being the worst ) directly above her tailbone which was literally a hole in her back you could fit your hand in. This happened because she was severely neglected, she did not have the strength to get out of bed by herself and the staff would let her lie in her filthy sheets for weeks at a time, she was never examined by a wound specialist, and when my wife alerted Delmar Gardens of these serious wounds, one of the administrators said, and I m paraphrasing, It s not our fault of our patients do not cooperate with the care staff. What were we supposed to do? ..Um ..How about getting her to a hospital? That never crossed their minds. I would bet that most of their staff don t have any credentials whatsoever. This place is disgusting and I m appalled the administrators can even get any sleep at night.
