Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapeutic technique used in Tennessee that helps you process and integrate traumatic memories that have been responsible for symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder. Using rapid eye movements, auditory tones, or tapping, EMDR focuses your brain on processing and integrating disturbing memories to achieve an adaptive solution.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

went to Daybreak when I was in high school. I was having behavior problems and the people at Daybreak definitely helped me out. There were people with all sorts of behavior issues; mine were minor compared to the other. They helped me stay current with my school work. They h ... Read More

This place may be good for some treatments but I have a TOC and I don't recommend group therapies, these meetings only made me create destructive thoughts that I had never felt, they didn't offer me an efficient treatment to treat my condition.

i went here over a year ago, your supposed to stay for 7 weeks. i was there for 4 months (mind you i also needed alot of help & would run away from all my problems, so i would avoid going & that was extra days added to my treatmeant) i had a very sweet therapist that held me accountable for me running away from my issues and i was very deflective, i would minimize my problems and turn them into jokes. my theripst (Nicole) was probably one of my favorite people, she knew how to get me to respond correctly and i trusted her after a first couple sessions. day break is split into 4 things throughout the day, morning group, 2 hours of school, 1 hour of group therapy, lunch, then DBT. dbt is skills you learn to regulate your emotions, which i still use to this day and my favorite is still STOP. you see your therapist every week once or twice, but they always check up on you see if you need anything or just to talk. i would say daybreak definitely helped me to this day in my day to day life, i havent self harmed since i was there, i would definitely say i have my bad days still, but i have been doing alot better since day break. they made me feel very validated & cared about. idk how it is now, but i loved day break even when i hated being there. i am very thankful i got to go there when i needed it most cause trust me i definitely needed to be there. ms sussie is the absolute sweetest.

i went here twice. the first time was about a year ago and it was great and really helped me get thru some difficult things in my life. the second time (which was very recent) it was awful. the new therapists are very uncaring and unhelpful and i've noticed that they give up on kids who they think are "too difficult". if your struggling, i would suggest you look into another treatment center because this program is only helpful to people who aren't that deep into depression and don't have other issues like substance use or have had trauma/family issues. the therapists here were incredibly insensitive and rude and actually made my self harming worse and increased my suicidal thoughts. i think this place works for some people, but it didn't for me and others i know who are or have been in the program.

I was a patient there and it was an experience that I truly was not ready for. I was there for around 14 weeks (you are told that you go for about 7 weeks). You are assigned a personal therapist and most of them were very sweet and would truly try to hear you out about your experiences, trauma, abuse, exc. I was there for flashback trauma, substance use, behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, and many more things. I do get that I was a kid that caused my family hell, but do not send your kid here. PLEASE. And if you do it anyway, it s your own choice but I would have much rather been sent somewhere else.

I think in general this place is fine. The people there are great. But, it really depends on the people that you're with at the time. The only bad experience that I had there was the director telling me that I was in "emotion mind" because I was experiencing an anxiety attack when they decided to bring two German shepherds over, and yes, I do realize that I was being irrational at the time, but that gives you no excuse to laugh at me, or anyone else experiencing that. There's this one review talking about Mr. Shelby, he's fine, maybe that person had a bad experience with him, but he is nice to me and other people currently. The media rule and the subgrouping rule are out of hand, though. We can't even get the person's phone number after they leave, and we can't even mention TV shows. There's also another reviewer who said that they don't treat OCD. Again, depends on who you're with, if your with people who give you bad feedback because they don't have that disorder, than yeah, their not going to know what feedback to give you. but, if you do have anxiety or depression, then you might find this place helpful.

If i could give this place a 0 I would. I started back in august of 2021,To say most of the people there were absolutely terrible was an understatement,I went into daybreak with hope, that someone could finally help me,Only ONE Therapist for the most part understand me and I believe her name was ms,Shelly,I wish she could of been my therapist,I highly recommend her,she s the only one, that could possibly help you,I will say there was also a white middle aged man,I forgot his name,He was nice for the most part but other than that,Really every worker there, was not there to help you,Who I would highly recommend staying away from, was a like 28 male black man,I believe his name was mr Shelby or something,He made my time there absolutely terrible,He never helped me in any good way,and he was my therapist,he was suppose to help,me,also my first therapist, was a middle aged white women with blonde hair and glasses, and On the first session,I had with her she basically told me I should unalive myself, and although she stopped being my therapist,She still gets to be other peoples therapist, and they still made me be around her crazy self,I left daybreak after being there, longer than I wanted, and yes I was there the whole 7 weeks, and I believe longer, feeling defeated and going back to where I started,So i really got no help at all,I was 14,please think twice before sending your child here and waisting money.

If I could give it a negative number of stars, I would. My mom put me in treatment at Daybreak for an entire summer and it was nothing short of traumatic and heartbreaking. I went during middle school when I was experiencing severe mental health issues related to my CPTSD inflicted by my mother.Everyone at some point in group therapy is required to write an essay on what it means to be King Baby . We were told in group that we were entitled and forced to mimic a tantrum in the middle of the floor while wearing an old Burger King crown. I seriously wish I was lying. We weren t allowed to socialize without one of the staff within earshot, we were forbidden from discussing current affairs, music, tv shows. You also weren t allowed to use the words stupid or shut up . Ever. If you were caught saying either for any reason, or if you befriended another kid and tried to exchange contact information, you d have to sit in isolation for three days, which was basically an old desk in an empty room. You would also have to eat in isolation. During outings, you weren t allowed to speak or be spoken to, and you had to be the last person to get into the van and the last person to get out.My experience at Daybreak was a hellish fever dream and I would never put my child in a program like that.

I went to daybreak 2 years ago. I had a horrible experience and they were extremely mean to me. We couldn t have our phones the whole day, when we made friends we couldn t get there numbers just because we weren t aloud, i got dress-coded because i was wearing leggings and got sent to a chair in the corner for 30 mins because of that. The people there were honestly really rude except for like 2 workers. Also, when i was there a new kid came along and he threatened to shoot up the place and they still let him stay (i was extremely scared and they did not care) you can t chose where you can sit at lunch either. I did not get a lot out of this camp and it just didn t help. If you re thinking of sending your kid to daybreak i would rethink that because it s just overall not a good place.
