About Creative Counseling Services

Creative Counseling Services is a mental health and addiction treatment center for adults in Fort Collins, Colorado. They provide general, enhanced, and intensive outpatient services to help you work through your challenges and reclaim your life. You can visit them in person or connect with a counselor virtually through their telehealth program.

Counseling gives you the opportunity to learn more about addiction and understand some of the issues and events that might be triggering your drug or alcohol use. As you talk about your condition, your counselor can provide advice and teach you healthier ways to cope with problems as they arise. They’ll also show you ways to prevent a relapse in the future.

You can attend your sessions on your own or in a group. They offer gender specific groups for men and women who have been through trauma, as well as specialty groups that focus on certain topics. For example, there’s a group that talks mostly about wellness and recovery and another that centers on anger management.

Something I find interesting about this facility is that they also provide therapy and education for people who are facing legal repercussions for driving under the influence. You might be required to attend these courses if you’re facing a DUI charge.

A former client calls this the best recovery agency in the state. Another says her counselor was empathetic, knowledgeable, and personable.

The most unprofessional series of people I have ever dealt with. I hope you like reciprocal conversation, as this is the only "counseling" they have been trained in. Absolute money mill with no real concern about treatment or recovery from trauma. Egos that will not hear anything but praise of how well they are doing. Expect poor communication, improper scheduling, and ABSOLUTELY ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY!

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Professional services are often necessary to recover from addiction. Drug rehab in Colorado provides the expert services needed to address the complex issues of addiction and help individuals start their recovery journey.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The counselor I had was very emotional instead of listening trying to understand your need for counseling she wanted to hear what she wanted to hear! If you didn't respond she would abuse her authority and use it against you very poorly trained horrible experience there

Beka Sheneman is hands down the best counselor. I have been too many counselors over the years and never stayed long enough to get help. Beka has been my counselor for over 2 years now and the help I have received with my personal issues is amazing!!! She deserves a award and recognition. She is the most empathetic, personable, and knowledgeable counselor. Thank you Beka for everything!

Carol Frost is amongst the most wonderful women, and teachers I have ever had. Her teaching is thought provoking, relatable, hilarious, and just all around amazing. I think everyone who has ever struggled with similar things should take her class, whether they have to or not. I genuinely wanted to be there, and am almost sad i only got 12 hours with her and my peers. wonderful panel, wonderful teacher. I will never ever forget her.

Counselor Donovan is hands down the best counselor I've had. I've used creative counseling multiple times and I've had almost a dozen counselors, all of which did an amazing job, but Donovan is on point. He does a good job staying on task, keeping control of the group, making sure everyone is getting what they need out of it, and he sets the highest expectations for himself in his job. I'm very thankful to have such an amazing counselor that I can learn from every session.

Thoroughly enjoyed classes with Cheryl! Although on-line, she truly got to know the group. Cheryl is empathetic, caring, knowledgeable, managed the dynamics of a diverse group, and I feel blessed to have crossed paths with her. Creative Counseling is fortunate to have her on staff. I wish her all the best and much happiness in the New Year!

I feel like these classes are just made to be forcefully tooken and to steal your money. 25 a class is ridiculous!

Response from the owner1 year ago
I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at 970-420-1702 and I would be happy to discuss further, or find you a different group/Counselor if your current is not a good fit. Or if you prefer we can move forward with discharging you from our program, as we do not want you to feel forced into attending.
