outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs promote clients' long-term sobriety through a suite of services designed to provide a complete continuum of care. Drug rehab aftercare typically begins as soon as patients exit inpatient care and often includes formal outpatient treatment. Clients who no longer require outpatient counseling, education, or other treatment generally continue to receive rehab aftercare services, such as peer coaching, career counseling, or 12 step program induction. Clients typically develop their program in collaboration with their case manager.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services can be crucial to successfully plan and complete a drug intervention in Connecticut. A professional interventionist can walk loved ones through the careful step-by-step process of carrying out an intervention. This process may be necessary if an individual is causing physical harm to themselves or others, when it is apparent that they aren't going to get help, or when they deny they have a problem at all.

Husky Health

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Connecticut provides the professional support that is often necessary to break free from drug dependency. With proper treatment, individuals can make changes that restore balance and health to their lives and achieve long-term recovery.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Clients participating in dialectical behavior therapy in Connecticut can expect to attend weekly skills focused group meetings as well as one on one sessions with the therapist. Individual sessions usually last one hour, and groups, made up of four to 10 people, last 1.5 to 2 hours. The focus is to help clients accept situations, recognize emotions, and acknowledge the need for change.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Waste of time. They don't help you- just manage paper work and overbook the appointments to leave home early.

I was there for maybe a two months for mental health issues i didn t feel heard whenever i would share something and go look at the after notes its was entirely wrong I specify that I would only like in person visits in But instead, they put on my notes that I only want phone calls And when I did say something about having in person, it was completely ignored and even then my appointments will be months apart from each other and it made my mental health get worse. I had Terry for therapist And I just felt unheard and it made me shut down and end up ghosting the entire thing and stepping Away from therapy, the psychiatrist she was great and I wish that I can talk to her, but i know that s not how it works.

Patient abandonment and unethical behavior, professional quit with no referral for me as an alternative and made sarcastic comments. Stay away from this place if you're seeking personalized care.

Terrible. I had an experience in the behavioral health department where I called to make a reservation and was told they would call me back, but I never heard back from them. When I called after 2 weeks, they hung up on me. Such a "nice" service.

Hello this is for the behavior health department. I ve been seeing them for about a year or more and I honestly feel like the whole time was a waste . I had two different therapist while there and don t feel like neither one of them helped me . They made me feel discouraged and bothered , not one time after a session did I feel better. Most times I was still upset or uneasy about things , I will speak and get little to no response. When it came to my job and taking time off due to my mental they moved really slow with the paper work . My therapist Terry held my paper work for my job , I went to pick it up at 1pm and I waited until 1:33 for her to walk in the office . When she walked in the officer she didn t acknowledge me, she walked right by me told another patient she ll be right with them . Went into her office came out , grabbed someone that came after me and started a whole session so I had to wait there for an hour and still didn t get the paper work for my job . The old lady at the front desk is so careless and rude . Instead of helping me solve problems they created more problems , I just feel like the therapist that work here does not care . I m young and I need someone that actually cares about their job want to get to know all their patients . Not a therapist that soon as I have a disagreement with they recommend to close my case out . Not once did Terry suggest this but twice , as black young women I was excited to have a black therapist but sadly my psychiatrist made me feel more comfortable than my therapist. After sessions with my psychiatry I will feel a little lighter , I was able to cry express myself . I wish it was a way for me to see my psychiatrist still without dealing with a Cornell Scott as a whole ! Just horrible

This review comes from a behavioral health perspective. In my experience as a women of color with a neurodivergency, it took over a year to get to the root of my mental health issues. Instead, focus on a misdiagnosis and temporary substance use (which was minimal at the time and is now legal, btw), was the crux of my sessions and treatment plans. Once the root cause was established, I noticed the advice I was being given was not applicable to someone in my situation.I would say something, not be asked a follow up question, and the therapist would go on a tangent about a condition that was not even related to what I was talking about. For example, early on I mentioned feeling empty and this was used as the reason to diagnose me with a mental health condition i m certain I don t have. When I later tried to clear this up (after I found the language to describe what was ACTUALLY happening- it was a bore out essentially- wanting to do things, but not wanting to do things at the same time, a feeling I would call the void because it was an uncomfortable feeling.. which I now know is actually guilt for not doing things even though I want to) she didn t want to hear it. This happened often. She also talked way too much.My concerns and clarifications often went unheard (as if they didn t want to hear it or thought they knew me better than I knew myself), were trivialized, minimized, normalized, or brushed off. I was asked open ended questions, even though I don t respond well to them as it would be hard for me to organize my thoughts on the spot. I was given homework assignments and they were practically never done because I m not audio- and honestly the therapist talked so much I would tend to tune her out/get bored/distracted anyway. Unfortunately I ve become quite adept at masking so she probably couldn t tell- but that this pattern was not brought up after over a year is telling.Towards the end I was lectured and condescended to; I would end sessions frustrated and annoyed at how I was treated. There is certainly a bias here, and many things are said to you under the guise of being helpful that are actually misogynistic in nature with hints of misogynoir. In many ways I feel I was punished for my honesty instead of worked with. This should have been a two way relationship. Instead they positioned themselves as a point of authority and created a power dynamic. That s not what therapy is about. This is not to say there weren t some good things that came out of my sessions. There just wasn t enough.I sought a second and third opinion and was given the supports and community I needed rather quickly. CSH was helpful to a point. Listen to your gut if you start to feel unheard/uneasy. Seek other therapists/prescribers who take your insurance before leaving if you choose to as there may be a waiting list. Seek a second opinion. Don t feel guilt tripped into staying. You don t owe them anything, you only owe yourself.

Waited over an hour in line for a Covid test on 12/23/21. Though the wait was long, the entire staff was amazing. From the security crew managing the line outside the building to the clinical folks conducting the test, they were all so very helpful, professional, and courteous. Thanks for your service!

This place is very very unprofessional. How do you have everyone including the receptionist on lunch breaks all at the same time for over an hour?
