I wasnt happy to be mandated to attend. But over time ive build friendships, and relationships with members and staff and still try to keep in touch and give updates. Its all based on what you what do achieve. If you want to change them you'll find the help you need! From groups, to asking for one on one meetings the staff is extremely open to help but all they ask is that your open, honest, and upfront with them. My first 2 weeks I hated it I wont lie. But it started to grow on me and at the end I actually looked forward to giving it gave me a sense of accomplishment and provided me a ton more knowledge than I ever knew. Because of this I decided I want to follow the career path of mental health/ substance use and help others. It went from a curse to a blessing opening my eyes to a whole new insight and im very grateful for that. I always thought where id end up in 6 months job wise. Now im already career planning with a 5 year plan. I want thank thank, marabal, Julie, Melissa, Chris, Taylor, and Kenny for all personally believing in me and giving the tools and education I need for the future.

Great internship opportunity working in Staff Development after being denied ability to be a Summer RA @ Uconn despite rocking the interviews and saving a resident from ramifications who ultimately got the summer job (that resident was so rude to me smh and even ignored me in the interview process like I didn't just help her land an opportunity). My mentor in Jane was amazing and she supported me when a staff came in like a hawk questioning me about watching her presentation on diabetes (talking bout ohh I thought staff development was trying to watch me through you as an intern ). Ms. Fleischmann will forever be a fav bc I learned so much under her direction. Not only in knowledge but in life. So much love there.
