About Conifer Park

Conifer Park is an organization that offers addiction recovery services in Liverpool, New York. Clients can receive these services at the Syracuse Outpatient Clinic. Staff is available to help clients from Monday through Saturday in the morning, afternoon and evening. The outpatient clinic offers treatment to both adults and adolescents. Clients can receive services up to five times per week. Their primary treatment specialty is chemical dependency treatment. They also believe in the importance of group therapy to help those who are coping with mental health, legal issues or any other life circumstances a client needs support to manage.

Syracuse Outpatient Clinic makes an effort to provide several specialized services to help its clients. As an example, given that adolescents have a school schedule to follow, they provide late afternoon sessions for them to receive group counseling. Clients who are dealing with anger issues that may be caused by or contributing to addiction can participate in anger management groups. Individuals who have received a DWI can receive DWI evaluations and participate in DWI specific groups. I like that they also provide gender specific groups for men and women.

Before starting any treatment, clients need to undergo an assessment. A great thing about Syracuse Outpatient Clinic is they can usually have clients scheduled for assessments within 24 hours. They also accept walk ins. Depending on the specific case, the clinic is prepared to provide patients with same day medication assisted treatment (MAT). The different medications used to treat clients include methadone, buprenorphine and other agonist medications.

YOUR ALREADY SICK DONT MAKE IT WORSE BY COMING HERE.I did 4 out of 5 days of detox and I was so dehydrated when I left falling over seeing stars because there is no fresh water to drink here. There in no real cups here only Dixie cups with the only water supply being the kitchen sink or your bathroom sink you share with 2/4 smelly sick people like we are when we detox. You have to refill the cup 5 times to even have a decent drink of water. Very sad and discomforting. This place was very unhealthy . If you missed meal time you starved there is no snacks you can find throughout the day. If you did leave something in the fridge it was probably ate because everyone checks the fridge non stop starving . I didn t eat the 4 days I was in there because I was too sick to eat. I was the sickest one in there and I was seeing non addicts who had to do detox before the rehab part getting valiums and suboxone with no real reason for it, bragging about it . But everytime I got my vitals taken and asked how I felt they wouldn t give me any comfort meds that worked. I Suffered , Starved and was Dehydrated and they don t care to do anything about it. I have a Medical Marijuana card and I was seeing the CNAs smoke Pot caughing and laughing, it was a HUGE TRIGGER because I could not have my Marijuana Medications in with me.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs provide a space for clients to focus exclusively on their recovery while receiving intensive supervision and support. Inpatient treatment centers provide housing and food and most offer round-the-clock clinical care. Their primary treatment modalities typically consist of addiction counseling using various psychotherapeutic methods, including CBT, DBT, RBT, and motivational interviewing. Many rehabs also provide specialized services for clients with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Recovery-focused life skills training and holistic therapies are other common services.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I called a day before to the admissions Director spoke to her about a loved one needing help and treatment. She said to go to the Liverpool location. It s a walk-in clinic and they will be able to help I get there not only did they not help, but they said that there was nothing they could do for weeks then they also said that there was no medication to be offered And the only thing they could do is do a group therapy. I m sorry, but if you bring somebody somewhere with hopes of getting help and you get turned down like that if I could write no stars, that s what I would do.

Doesn't even deserve one star. Anyone needing evaluation to get driver license back.... I recommend you don't go here. I was told 240.00 cash on phone making appointment. Paid at front desk when arrived. Having not drank alcohol in at least one and half years....and 17 year old DWI.. want license back. Passed thier drug screen. When could not get a clear go over the phone....was told need to go in person...like 3 weeks later. Upon going for results....was asked for second drug screen I wasn't told about.... passed anyways. Then was told I needed 3 months refresher councilling. I refused. Then they saying I still owe them 140 dollars. And they say it's not a money scam. I feel that's all they wanted was to make money. And they put it on my credit report. This place is very bad business.

These reviews are supposed to be for Conifer Park Outpatient in Liverpool NY, NOT their inpatient facility which is in Glens Falls NY. Therefore to anyone reading this please don't make your decision for outpatient treatment by what you read on inpatient. It's pretty easy to tell which reviews are meant for which facility.I totally agree that Conifer Park inpatient is a joke. I should know, I've been there 3 times! You get there in the morning just to sit for 4 hours before seeing medical, then your taken to another room to sit 4 more hours. At least that waiting room has food and drinks. Finally your taken to your unit while their at dinner. The rooms are gross, the other patients are rude, dirty and mostly mandated & only talk about getting high when they leave. There are a few that are there for help but I always stayed to myself. The staff could care less about you, to them your just another junkie. Now the outpatient in Liverpool is amazing, i've been there 3 years on methadone maintenance. The counselors genuinely care and they will call you out if your screwing up. It's a small place, not huge like 410 or Helio (SBH). Having less patients gives the staff the opportunity to work closely with a client. NO to inpatient, YES to outpatient.

Despicable. Buildings super old. Most of the day is spent standing in the halls because it's too crowded and hardly any meetings. One of which was called the "in and out meeting". Would be more effective to lock yourself in your basement. Staff does nothing to help. 8 ppl share a bathroom the size of a phone booth. Disgusting. Theyre only open to collect money. All they do is keep you alive. Please please don't waste your time with this place.
