About Conifer Park: Inpatient Addiction Treatment Detox & Rehab Center In New York

Conifer Park is a private inpatient chemical dependency treatment center located in Glenville, New York. They offer comprehensive services for adults that are easily accessible in a beautiful location conducive to recovery and life transformation. Available programs include medically supervised detox, inpatient treatment, and aftercare services. Dual diagnosis care is available for clients with co-occurring addictions and mental health disorders.

Conifer Park offers medically supervised detox and crisis counseling services in their withdrawal and stabilization unit. This service is for individuals experiencing withdrawal symptoms, including physical or psychiatric complications, associated with substance dependence. By providing a monitored withdrawal process that is overseen by professionals, safety and efficiency are provided. Detox at home can be uncomfortable at best and lethal at worst. Conifer Park ensures safety and comfort are a priority while detoxing by using medications proven to support stable detoxification.

Inpatient treatment at Conifer Park is offered in gender specific units where providers take into consideration medical, psychological, social, vocational, or legal problems that may be associated with the addiction. Treatment not only addresses the addiction itself but the matters that surround it. You’ll be assigned an addiction specialist who’ll help create a specialized plan of recovery that meets personal goals and needs. This highly structured environment aims to personalize care. Elements included in this program include mental and physical consultations, addiction education, relapse prevention training, psychiatric evaluations, medication monitoring, psychoeducational classes, daily group therapy, aftercare planning, and dedicated time weekly spent with an addiction specialist.

Mental health and addiction treatment are treated concurrently. Case managers and a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals work to help support mental health conditions that impact lives. A screening is performed that allows for a suitable treatment plan. Once this is completed, a psychiatrist may prescribe medications and connect clients with psychoeducational groups that serve to support them in understanding their situation more clearly. An aftercare plan is created prior to discharge to ensure ongoing mental health support.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs offer an intermediate level of care for clients who do not require the kind of intensive supervision and support an inpatient program typically provides. Many clients transition into outpatient care immediately after exiting inpatient treatment. Others enter outpatient programs upon completing detox. Some facilities offer ambulatory medical detox for clients who do not require hospitalization. Most outpatient rehabs offer a combination of services, including addiction counseling, life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehabs provide a space for clients to focus exclusively on their recovery while receiving intensive supervision and support. Inpatient treatment centers provide housing and food and most offer round-the-clock clinical care. Their primary treatment modalities typically consist of addiction counseling using various psychotherapeutic methods, including CBT, DBT, RBT, and motivational interviewing. Many rehabs also provide specialized services for clients with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Recovery-focused life skills training and holistic therapies are other common services.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients in rehab aftercare programs receive a customized portfolio of services designed to promote their sustained sobriety. These clients have completed high-level treatment, are typically exiting detox and/or intensive inpatient care and are reintegrating into their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services address addiction disease as a chronic condition requiring continuing care. Clients typically work with case managers and recovery teams to access necessary resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction support.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

For many different stages and therapies offered during addiction treatment, it's essential to offer 24-hour clinical care in New York. often involves medication treatment for drug or alcohol detox. The withdrawal symptoms experienced during detox can be dangerous, but having medical experts on-site around the clock means someone is always there to step in and provide emergency medical care when and if it is ever needed.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox involves weaning your body off of addictive substances in a medically supervised environment. If you've become dependent on alcohol and/or drugs, quitting on your own can be uncomfortable and even dangerous. In medically assisted detox, a team of licensed medical professionals will help manage potential withdrawal symptoms, ensuring that you're as safe and comfortable as possible. This process typically takes about 5-7 days, although the length will depend on your individual needs.

CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. Checked myself in. My first experience with rehab. Waited four hours to get to the unit. No meetings that night. The next morning at 5:30 AM the woke me up to take my blood. I went to breakfast two hours later, then we had a meeting about sleep. SLEEP.. Following that we had another meeting. It was about how terrible the facility was run and asking us how they could improve it. Some people claims they had only seen their counselor one time the entire time they were there and we're about to graduate the next week. After that I went and took a nap and was woken up by the cleaning lady who said I missed lunch. Everybody came back up to the unit and they took us outside following lunch. The people that have been there multiple times without success told me I should run while I could. The facility itself is an old tuberculosis housing corridors. They even have the old incinerator chimney still up. The place is absolutely dilapidated, outdated and disgusting. The only water available is straight out the tap. So when I finally decided to check out that same day they gave me a hard time until I dragged my stuff downstairs and demanded my property. I went out to my car because I hit a spare key and realized that they stole my car which is a Mercedes-Benz and took it for God knows how long and parked it in a different spot under sap trees that expected me to leave it there unnoticed for 28 days. That is completely disrespectful on every level.

Do NOT have your loved ones attend here. My family member was here for not even a week and it was a nightmare. They don t provide any kind of services besides a place to stay. My family member was told groups and therapy would be provided. They didn t receive any of that. When they were dropped off my transportation there was numerous people with the cab and the driver informed my family member that the place reminded them of hurtling cattle. There was 150 patients and not enough staff. Everything was timed.150 people in a line for meds and food. Not enough time to even finish their meal. It was days before I was allowed to speak with my family member. When I did I only was able to speak with them for 2 minutes. I kept calling the facility and no one would answer. I was an emergency contact and wasn t called when my family member fell and broke their hip. My family member informed me that when they fell they yelled and no one came to assist them. My family member also informed me that the nurses had talk to them like they were dumb and made them cry when they needed assistance with the phone. This facility needs structure, staffing, communication, and care. I would be disgusted to work here. Figure it out.

First off, I fully believe these institutions are needed. However, the nice, open, aesthetically appealing room you check yourself in at is completely different from the rest of the building. Once inside everything I saw-except for the cafeteria and gym- is outdated and not very well maintained. The detox section was very helpful, necessary but scary. The overall cleanliness of this unit was decent. The groups and scheduled classes were only held about 50% of the time, which was frustrating but I was told that the classes, groups and meetings would be much more available once in the impatient rehab program. This proved to be untrue. The gym and pool aren t available during detox. There are many people with open wounds and/ or untreated ailments because a doctor wouldn t treat them until their detox was completed. The impatient rehab is totally different. It s disgusting, it s shocking, it s completely unsanitary. There are 8 women sharing 1 toilet, one shower, one sink, which is all understandable. There are about 40 women in this small section of the building. Vomit, excrement, and blood is not only all over the bathrooms, but in the common areas as well. No cleaning supplies or washcloths or paper towels were given to patients in order to clean these areas. There were many people with eating disorders that weren t able to get to bathrooms so they d use trash cans to vomit in, then when they or other patients or myself would try to change the bags, the staff would refuse to replace the bags and wouldn t take the full bag or give us a way to dispose of it. There would be piles of clear trash bags filled with vomit and excrement outside rooms or at the end of the only hallway. The staff was sure to keep the soiled bags away from their office, but the patients could not escape the smell or the sight of this. The cleaning staff were very efficient, but were only there once a day. There was no other output for refuse. The staff refuses to give the patients towels or instruments to clean the common areas up with and refuses to do anything to address the conditions. It was horrifying. The staff overall is a group of untrained, unprofessional peer counselors , most of which were patients at conifer park just 90 days before. They are very understaffed. Most shifts seemed to be down at least 1 person, which meant they couldn t hold scheduled rehabilitation groups, the groups that are necessary to our recovery. The staff would openly tell patients what staff member called in, what excuse was used, how often that particular person calls in, blaming the chaos and disorganization on the staff member that called out. The staff break more rules than the patients do. Groups are almost never held when they are scheduled, or never held at all. Outdoor recreation was only held if the staff member felt like going outside- it is supposed to be held daily for 30 minutes, which was never upheld. When I was leaving, one staff member kept saying i can tell you won t make it ! It was a bizarre way to leave. The staff was very unhelpful and discouraging in this way. I heard many staff members say things like you aren t ready to stop using or you haven t hit your bottom, or recovery isn t for everyone, or you re going to be part of the 90% that won t make it or we will see you in here again . It was disheartening and unproductive, to say the least. The staff would congregate for dance-offs and gossip, but not to hold meetings or groups. They were totally unprofessional and impotent. The activities counselors in the gym were very good. The cafeteria staff was great and efficient. I was there for 16 days, and despite my asking repeatedly, I wasn t given a treatment plan. I never saw a therapist or counselor, I saw a doctor twice, through telehealth. They were very focused on how much my insurance would pay for, vs how much help I needed. Focused on money, not my personal needs and goals. But truly, I ve never seen a more unprofessional staff than in the rehab area of this hospital. It was definitely a disappointment.
