About Comprehensive Community Services

Comprehensive Community Services’s outpatient treatment clinic is located in Kingsport, Tennessee. They provide treatment services to adolescents and adults who are living with a drug or alcohol dependence or have a co-occurring diagnosis. This facility provides care through its 24-hour social detoxification program, outpatient counseling, an intensive outpatient program, and residential treatment.

When you seek care at Comprehensive Community Services, you’ll first undergo a clinical and medical assessment to determine the best care plan for your health struggles. Their social detox program offers a supportive environment for detoxification without the use of medical therapies.

The outpatient and intensive outpatient programs offer flexible schedules for you to receive counseling services and other treatments to help you through recovery.

Some individuals are better served through the adult residential treatment program. Here, you’ll find more robust treatments including physiological counseling, recovery skills development, a structured setting, and other support.

As you exit treatment, you’ll be further supported through the aftercare support that aids you in putting together a discharge care plan. This can include follow-up sessions with counselors and support for transitioning into a drug-free and healthy environment.

The IOP/OP Program is a dedicated program ready to help those individuals in need. This program is offered at times that allow consumers to continue to work, attend school and be with family. Consumers benefit from a successful modern, evidence-based program designed to balance personal recovery and family growth.

inpatient iconInpatient

The residential program is based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Levels of Care. CCS offers a structured regimen of care 24 hours a day where a client develops recovery skills using evidence based programs. This environment offers a defined set of policies and procedures, housed in a facility where a client can safely deal with the psychological, emotional and physical/spiritual aspects of addiction.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program typically have abstained from drugs or alcohol for a period of weeks or months and have completed high-level (often inpatient) treatment. Drug rehab aftercare is designed to support clients in maintaining their sobriety as they re-engage with their ordinary lives at home, in the workplace, and in the community. Services are highly individualized and evolve with clients' changing needs, but generally include peer coaching and relapse prevention.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

In addition to providing best practice guidelines and using the most current treatment approaches available, CCS operates an accredited Category I school licensed by the State ofTennessee. Students in treatment attend school Monday – Friday ensuring they do not fall behind in their school work. Some students may choose to study for the GED or prepare for the college ACT test while receiving services at CCS.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

I have not attended rehab at this location, I am a loved one who's fiance is attending. I felt the communication for me with staff was good, helpful to me. My fiance says it the treatment is ok, she has been treated pretty good and the meetings have been helpful. I was a little surprised at some of the negative attitudes of some of the staff members, but I understand what they are having to deal with, I also have to take into consideration there are people in that program that are major addicts and have no personal hygene ethics. They are there only because they are court ordered, I feel that takes away from the people really trying to get rehabilitated. Time will tell if the rehab is worth it, So overall I give them a passing grade for effort. The fact is, not everyone wants to be rehabilitaed, So I would think if they are only getting thru to a few of them, than it is a positive place. I have seen the complaint posted in reviews, I would think this is a lot better than jail, so they need to get over it, No country club atmosphere was promissed !!!!! The program is designed to make an impact, not a vacation from jail.

My sister Dana got home from CCS and spent two days extra in jail, getting home today. She says she had a great experience that she appreciates all the more after the hellish conditions at Blount County jail. She said that the professionalism amongst the staff was lacking but they do try really hard and the food is to die for. She's missing a few of the people she met there already. The rehab is not what it's cracked up to be, because she came home and had two beers, but then just laid down and went to bed with her pets after listening to her playlist on YouTube. She plans to go to probation tomorrow, so I'm hopeful for her. But it didn't phase her toomuch, except for there was NO DETOX from the methadone she'd been on for years. The jail did that for her, albeit cold turkey, and almost killed her. There is no detox at this facility either, and she received no medical treatment except for them calling an ambulance to take her to the hospital when she was having chest pain.

I can't give this place an adequate "star". It's not a 1, it's not a 5. There are not words to describe my experience. I indeed came home a different person. I lost all sense of emotions. Know that if you if you are splitting jail time, do rehab first. Insurance won't pay for an other facility if you get sober in jail. I will be working with my personal psychiatrist on what I can only describe as PTSD.The basics: the counselors are friendly, the admin staff was supportive and the food was great. The "Care-Workers" aka babysitters are untrained and are dealing with peoples lives, constant threats of sending clients back to jail was all I heard. Never to me personally, but I saw several people kicked out because of their lack of professionalism. 22 year olds (and younger) starting arguments with 40 year olds TRYING to make a change, but hey, they will bring you things from the outside if they like you. Yes there are bedbugs, no they do not address them. For 27 days I heard they were mosquito bites. My room was the only room I saw treated on my last night there, even though they have the heaters on property.None of this is why I started this review. I came home a different person. I am working to overcome 29 days of total sensory deprivation. I feel I lost part of my life being there. Most will go to avoid jail time. Do not expect to take away any form of recovery. It is designed to remove you from any contact with the outside world. My 3rd week I went into a shell and stayed there. You will not recieve one on one counseling. If you are going to better your self and have insurance, use it elsewhere.

Husband went for 5+ years for what should have been an 18 month program out patient (1 per week group session). It's a money scam and everyone in the group knew it. Clearly these people can't do their jobs right if they can't actually get everyone through an 18 month program in that time +6 months tops for the worst.

Truly a great program that eagerly want it! At the beginning I didn t want to hold my head up. Slept through class & meetings. I just wanted it to rush through so I could hurry get out and very close minded! The end results I ended up self loving myself and very eager to become of more knowledge. I m grateful for CCS and it s councilors. If u pay attention and want the knowledge you will have growth and prosper in it. I even ran the AA meetings and a few NA. I went from a total zombie stage to I want more for myself and my family. Wayne also helped me get in a half way house. The staff was amazing. The food was straight up delish. I am very grateful God lead me to CCS . It was a great learning and growth experience. It s how bad you want it if you prosper in addiction and recovery.
