About Colorado Springs Veterans Administration

PFC Floyd K. Lindstrom Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, offers primary care and various specialty healthcare services. This includes substance abuse rehabilitation and mental healthcare services. They even address dual diagnosis. Their program options include outpatient and inpatient care. It all depends on your unique conditions. You can qualify for care even if you’re not enrolled in VA healthcare. It’s especially great that they accept Medicaid, Medicare and TRICARE. Financial help is also available through VA financial hardship assistance.

Inpatient care takes place in their safe and conducive residential treatment facility and is ideal if you’re dealing with severe addictions requiring intensive therapy and 24/7 medical care in a structured environment. Their flexible outpatient care serves those with mild addictions or substance use disorders.

The facility prioritizes individualized treatment through counseling and group therapy. Their recovery approach may also incorporate medication assisted treatment. This technique uses FDA approved medicine and counseling to treat substance abuse. Their outpatient mental healthcare program involves consultation, evaluation and individual and group therapy.

They can help you deal with addiction and various mental health conditions. This includes depression, PTSD and anxiety. They even handle marriage and relationship problems. These are often connected directly or indirectly to mental health issues or addiction. They offer same day appointments, telehealth visits or walk in express care for emergency behavioral health issues.

Beneficiary travel perks may be available for in person treatment if you’re eligible. This includes round trip transportation from your home to the medical center, mileage reimbursement or special mode transport. They also offer homelessness support, unemployment assistance and educational programs. Comments from past clients reflect slightly mixed experience with the majority acknowledging the facility’s quality care.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Linden Oaks' Residential Stay Program offers additional support for those who may benefit from a structured living environment. A patient's stay may vary from a few days to 30 days ago. The program includes group, family and individual counseling.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Us Veterans get treated like crap when it comes to medical issues. I have a disability and I got approved for a medicine through the choice program but the VA is giving me the run around. This happens often. Wow nice building but terrable service. It's not right at all. Illegals get treated better then we do.

Being treated like a henderance because I am having a hard time paying a bill. Sending me in a perpetual circle of people and at the end nothing is done other than waisting my time. Thanks VA glad I did 3 tours to be treated this way. But they know I have no other choice in health care so they feel they can treat me any way.

I've always had a good experience with setting up appointments, picking up prescription, or talking with counselors.

The mental health department constantly cancels my appointments on the day of my appointment due to the provider. This has been going on for months.

I've recently transferred some of my care from the aurora va to the Colorado springs. It's extremely difficult to find mental health and primary care Dr's to actually listen to you. I mostly go to this va for chiropractic and physical therapy. Dr Lowe is beyond fantastic for a chiropractor. I'd also recommend Madeline for complex pain/physical therapy. Always remember that you are your biggest advocate at the va, and it may take months or even years for you to get the right care, but it's worth it when you do.

45 minute drive to get to the clinic, arrived 15 minutes early yet waited another 1 hour and 15 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. Place is extremely chaotic. Staff seems overwhelmed and more interested in socializing with each other than helping people.
