About Clem-Mar House

The Clem-Mar House was formed back in 1994. It’s a halfway house for men. If you’re recovering from alcohol or drug abuse, they’ll help get you back to a sober lifestyle. This facility is out in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania. There’s also a home for women in Dallas, Pennsylvania.

Once you’re in their program, there’s a daily schedule filled with therapy, either by yourself or in groups. Their staff believes in tackling any mental and behavioral issues that might trigger your addictions. This means that you’ll learn about your emotions and how to handle stress. To deal with frustrations in a healthy way, you’ll have daily meditation and go to AA or NA meetings with the other guys. There are also random drug tests. When you’re not in treatment, you’ll also have some downtime for recreation and to look for steady work.

In addition to therapy, you’ll also learn new life skills, like being responsible for chores and following house rules. There are practical skills, too, like keeping track of your time and money and learning how to cope with trauma in healthier ways. They might connect you with resources in Luzeme/Wyoming Counties. You might also meet alumni who often return as motivational speakers. That way, they can share their experiences and reassure newcomers. When you graduate, you might be inspired to give back to other guys and help them the same way they helped you.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Couples therapy in Pennsylvania is typically short term treatment that focuses on building skills that lead to positive long term relationship changes. Sessions with the therapist may occur both jointly and individually.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Emotions that surface during experiential therapy can reveal how you've coped with situations in the past. A trained therapist will guide you through conversations about your emotions and reactions either during therapy or in a follow up session. Therapy may include activities such as equine therapy, wilderness therapy, martial arts, drama, music, or art.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills are the mental and social skills that are necessary to navigate day to day life. Addiction diminishes or eliminates these skills, so they must be relearned and practiced during drug rehab treatment in Pennsylvania.

If I could give zero stars I would I got thrown out for recording the head counselor telling us " we are homeless drug addicts and we do the things we do because we hate ourselves and aren't comfortable in our own skin" I've never seen power get abused so much in my life. On top of getting treated that way they made us limit our water intake so they didn't have to get water(they fill jugs up at a spring for free) during the hottest days that were on record they make you volunteer outside on 90 days and don't provide transportation drinks or food. They have a horrible reputation in the community so if you're applying for a job and use their address they will not hire you. You can't use your phone until about a month of being there. The head counselor said we shouldn't have real jobs while being there just part time dishwasher until we find out why we don't like ourselves. That's just a piece of what goes on there.

This place worked very well for me because I wanted to change and this place helped me do that. I did see a lot of people fail but most of them did not do what was suggested to them. They did it their way and got it their way!

If you really want to make a positive change in your life this place will help you learn the tools to maintain a productive positive lifestyle,my counselor was very professional and showed passion concerning her job,of course you are going to have whiners who don't want to make a positive change in their life but it made a difference in mine.I do believe the staff are underpaid.

This place is one of the worst places that I ever went to I had to leave to find recovery they went behind my back and broke the HIPAA law I have a good case to prove this and am prosecuting to the fullest I have a lawyer on it but could use all the help I can get have witnesses and good testimony to prove if I was a caseworker I would never send anyone here the counselors are uneducated and take there advice for clients they chose to remove me from the program and let people who were actively using stay all because they could not figure out how to do there job please if you value your recovery do not go here I'm not saying this because I'm salty o ly because I care

It was the worst place I've ever been...PERIOD! I was treated unfairly, and all the staff cared about was seeing how many people they could write up. And all I kept hearing was..."if you don't like the way we do things, you can leave". All anyone did was try to get other patients in trouble. They didn't care about anyone at all. Its all about the all mighty dollar, and here I thought TREATMENT was the most important thing. There are much better places to receive treatment than that place. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you are a person who is struggling and in need of a strong support system and a better quality of life then please take advice from someone whose been there...DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GO TO THE CLEM-MAR HOUSE!! there are 1,000,001 better places in this world.
