We brought my son who is now unable to even walk. The nurses were so rude when it came time to put in an IV! My son was in so much pain, grouchy for sure, but no one would be patient enough or make him comfortable enough to get it done. The nurse that was assigned was young, and obviously inexperienced, and my son can tell this. Why couldn't they take their time or at least send someone with a heart to SEE how badly he was doing! We've tried so many times and this is the point where it goes south. I tried to tell the nurses this, but bedside manner was nowhere to be found this night.I realize they were busy, but he will end up being paralyzed before we can get him worked on.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This use to be a good hospital now i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Dr. Amachukwy is the most unprofessional doctor I've ever seen. My fiance went in and was told already possible kidney infection. This dr was very rude asked lots of inappropriate questions life how many bedrooms do we have, do we live in a trailer or apt. Oh we must live in the 5th Ave Apts. After saying we don't live on that st and in a house wanted the address which is already on file. He kept asking why we live together.Telling my finance all of this is their fault because she didn't know the name of her antibiotics without looking at the script. Asking if we have custody of our child. The list goes on then sent a nurse in to ask the same questions the next day. These questions had absolutely nothing to do with why she was in there. When i asked other nurses if this was normal everyone seemed shocked and said no. He kept grilling her these questions instead of trying to see what was wrong medically. She was in so much pain she started to cry and he told her she's just emotional nothings actually wrong. After another nurse said something he came back the next day came in the room as a make alone closed himself in the room alone with her only having on a gown saying I have to come apologize i have kids to. Was told she needed a CT scan and ultra sound but said they did neither there. 3 days later a nurse informed us they do indeed have both. Then they brought the trey of food and sat it on the red hazard trash can. And then wrote refused to eat because she didn't want to eat it after that. The doctor also wrote her up for the wrong procedure luckily the nurses caught it when going to administer her meds. Another nurse came in to change the battery on her pacemaker that she doesn't even have and this was a nurse that been taking her vitals for the past several days. There was a couple good nurses but that's it. There was a nurse name Nicole who was amazing sad part it wasn't even her normal floor.

Gave me discharge papers. It took everything I had to go upto er to check symptoms as advised my nurses thru insurance and cardaic dr office. I've had this since Tuesday at noon then got the nerve today to go and this is what Im gonna have to pay a big bill for..ive always had the best care there until today.always bragged saying you need to go there.Im home, still in pain, high blood pressure still high,nauseous,9/23/24 no one from hospital called me to check on me since discharge on Thursday or responded to this review. There's so much to say. I came in with a thyroid attack and I've had about six total before and I know what it is. I was waiting five to ten minutes before I got a room, hands and legs cramping visibly in pain crying. Those attacks can lead to a heart attack and the two guys up front didn't seem to care so I told them do ur Effing job. And the guy snapped at me. "Scuse me? You will not curse at me" I'm am obviously terrified and he snaps at me like I chose to be there! The anxiety I got to that plus my thyroid issues, CLEARLY A BAD MIX! He was a 40 yr old white guy, wears a LSU cap.I get my room. Finally. All these nurses coming in not saying a word to me, I thought was a little insane. Then the doctor. I think hes Filipino?? Bald. He was telling me "oh it's just anxiety". Like I didnt know my own body! He asked "how do u know it's thyroid issues?" I tell him I was diagnosed based on those. And I tell him I've had attacks before. He asks "how do u know?" Like I told u I got diagnosed. He asks again! "So how do u know it's thyroid issues?" !! I was so mad my heart rate kept going up. I was astonished on how horrible these people are. I am very thankful tho to two nurses. An older lady with blue rimmed glasses, not even on my "case" and she still helped me, and another much younger lady who took my insurance and all that. The blue glasses comforted me. Pet my head and got me my blankets cause I was shivering. Freezing. I wasn't checked on at all but I was glad she came in when she did. The other nurse. So nice talked with me made me laugh.I am very much considering sueing this place. This was bull. I never felt so inhumane then I have tonight. Never coming here again and advising others not to.
