About Choice House
Choice House is an addiction treatment facility for adult men in Boulder, Colorado. They provide transitional housing, residential treatment, and outpatient treatment to guide you through every stage of your recovery journey. They accept self pay and work with most insurance providers.
Their 90 day residential program is their most intensive offering. In this program, you’ll live on site and receive 24/7 care from their clinical staff. At this level, they’re focused on stabilizing your physical health and addressing any psychological issues you might be dealing with. One thing that stands out to me about this facility is its beautiful, natural setting. You can work on your recovery through individual and group counseling, as well as experiential therapies, all while enjoying the stunning backdrop of South Boulder.
Once you’ve completed this program, you may want to live in a safe, sober space before you head back out on your own. That’s what their transitional living program is for. This residence gives you the chance to put your new life skills into practice while you continue to get treatment and care. They expect you to stay in the program for at least 120 days, but you may stay longer if you need extra time. The step down from this is their structured sober living program, which gives you more independence as you get further in your recovery.
Something I like about this facility is that the outpatient counseling services focus on issues that affect men directly. You’ll have the chance to talk about the co-occurring conditions that go along with your addiction, like depression and anxiety. In addition, you’ll also learn strategies to help you make the most of your life in recovery, including tips on relationships and emotional regulation.
People who have stayed here in the past reflect fondly on their time in the program. One former client said the experience truly changed their life for the better, while another said the facility was in a beautiful location with caring staff.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.
Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
During trauma therapy, you explore the impact that a traumatic event has had on your life. Your therapist can help you develop strategies to manage the emotional and physical symptoms while improving emotional regulation. This improves your overall quality of life.
Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
Addiction therapy uses recreation to provide structured activities that replace substance use with positive experiences. For example, swimming, cooking classes, and hiking trips encourage social interaction and improve physical health and emotional stability. This helps you rebuild your life without relying on drugs or alcohol.
