Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Linden Oaks' Residential Stay Program offers additional support for those who may benefit from a structured living environment. A patient's stay may vary from a few days to 30 days ago. The program includes group, family and individual counseling.

12-step icon12-Step

Persons engaged in a 12 step program regularly attend group meetings in their communities, though online sessions are becoming increasingly popular. 12 step recovery is rooted in spiritual principles that enable participants to address the root causes of addiction and to foster self-awareness, compassion, acceptance, and accountability. Peer sponsors support participants as they work through the steps of recovery. Most programs are non-denominational, but specialized formats, including the faith-based Celebrate Recovery! format, are available.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

Don t go here! No therapists, unprofessional (except for Janeane who is awesome), and there s a major problem with inappropriate physical relationships at this place. Including the staff trying to get with the members. Yuck! Everyone walks around unsupervised so don t send your husband or wife here. And if you get in an argument w your partner they will make it their business and get in the middle of it and lie to you about where they are. They ll isolate your loved one from you. Haven t spoken to mine in 3 weeks bc they re encouraging it. Enabling his avoidant behavior and making me the enemy isn t a good way to keep people sober in my opinion. They ll tell you they ll treat you like family up there but they ll gang up on you as soon as you have a concern bc they re all victims in there. If you re not an addict or not the one paying their bills then you re the enemy. The staff and members will curse at you and hang up on you if you try to speak to your loved one. No dirext answers on how he s doing. Just redirected and postponed calls for 3 weeks. This place sucks! They don t even provide medical detox for opiates they gave him a few ativans and trazedone and wished him luck basically. My poor guy was sick for like 2 weeks and said this place sucks, but he s still there. Hope it works but Don t go here. This place is a CULT, not a medical facility. I don t think there s even one licensed or qualified therapist or doctor up there. It s sad and GROSS how they treat you.

Charleston Recovery Center was a totally different journey compared to treatment centers I had gone to in South Florida. It s a comfortable, family feel that gives you the time, space, and peace to heal. I was able to get to the root of my disease and build a fellowship of amazing people that are so important to me!

This time last year, I was feeling completely hopeless and desperate. I saw no way out of the vicious cycle of my life as an alcoholic and opiate addict. I didn t think it was possible to change the way I was living. I truly believed, and sometimes wished, I would die this way. And, then what I now see as God doing for me what I could not do for myself, I accepted a life-changing opportunity and entered the 90-day residential recovery program at Charleston Recovery Center. Upon completing the 12-step spiritual program, my life started to change for the better. The peer-on-peer environment helped me navigate through the challenges of addiction and discover a path to lasting recovery. The combination of community and spirituality empowered me to overcome obstacles and embrace a fulfilling life in sobriety. Today, I have Hope. I get to be happy, joyous, and free feelings I once did not think were possible. I will be forever grateful for my experience at Charleston Recovery Center.

The Charleston Recovery Center ( The Hope ) saved my life. I came to the program as a broken-down, aging, desperate and defeated alcoholic. Open arms, immediate attention to my comfort, a welcome ceremony like no other - made me keenly aware of being placed in the midst of something very special. It wasn t long before I concluded that the key to the program is its peer-to-peer model; everyone, from new residents to seasoned staff, is a product of The Hope. Members of the community work one-on-one, helping each other take the 12 steps of recovery. Shared experiences and a common problem with a common solution inform deep confessional conversations in a safe, protected space. Miraculous changes emerge. Folks become bright-eyed, more energetic, more engaging and extroverted- funnier! Unlikely friendships blossom. Group meetings erupt in belly laughs over the absurdities of the past. In my two years of association with The Hope, I ve witnessed the miracle in case after case. It produces a high unmatched by any mind altering substance.

Charleston recovery center changed my life. I've been in the grips of my drug addiction for 20 years and entered into countless rehabs and detox centers. The Hope gave me what I had always been missing, a relationship with my higher power and the fellowship of real friends that I can share life with.

I came into this program a shell of a human being. I was on death's door.I stayed as a resident at this facility for 8 months. The people here, they genuinely care about you. They teach you what is wrong and how to fix it. I would not still be sober 2 years later if I didn't think it was fun! CRC taught me how to have fun in sobriety, how to be a compassionate person, and how to find purpose in my life. Thanks to CRC, my perspective on life and sobriety has DRASTICALLY changed for the better.I also spent a lot of time with Ronnie Byers. A little rough around the edges-- He was a kind, giving, selfless man who worked tirelessly to help everyone around him. Over the weekend I attended his funeral, where there were HUNDREDS of people who came through CRC... He made an undeniable positive impact on not only Charleston, but the entire AA community. RIP Ronnie. You were loved by so many. Thank you for starting CRC and giving me my life back.Anyone who is unsure if this is the place for you-- If you want to get sober, this place will get you there!!! You just have to be willing to try something new. CRC has a very special place in my heart... This recovery community saved my life.NONE of us can get sober alone. If you want an endless community of support and love, come to the Hope!

This place should be shut down. They care nothing about you and take your money if you are a male. If you are a female you have to do certain things for them to let you in their sick cult. What I witnessed here was really corrupt. I wouldn t wish this disgusting sick place on anybody. They seriously should have inspections or something in place to prevent places like this. After all it s somebody s life they are playing with. This is such a terrible corrupt place.

Just called trying to locate someone. Asked if it was a court mandated half way house. The lady who did not give her name said, can I call you right back instead of answering my question. Just based on that 10second interaction I can 100% tell you that if you suffer from addiction this place is NOT the place for you. Most unprofessional 10sec interaction ever on the phone. after I said don t call me back she again did not pay attention or care about what I had to say because she called me back. Incredibly unattentive.

Charleston Recovery Center (The Hope) has completely changed my view on addiction treatment and simultaneously saved my life. A program designed around addicts helping other addicts is what makes their approach to recovery so unique. It s completely old school, in the exact style that the founders of AA helped others get sober. The CRC staff consists entirely of other addicts who have found recovery in helping others, such as myself. Amongst the various reasons I have for loving this place, one of my favorites would have to be meetings (shout out Ryan S.), the fellowship of life long friends I have made and the textbook style approach to the 12 steps. I would recommend The Hope to anyone who earnestly is seeking long term recovery and is willing to put in the work to do so.

After 2 other treatment centers, I turned to CRC for help with my alcoholism. Since entering the program in January, I have been given the tools to understand my disease and to find the solution. I could not be more grateful to the directors, staff members and fellow residents for showing me how to literally live a happy, joyous and free life of my own and not be a slave to my addiction.
