I spent 51 life changing days at changing tides. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and there to aid you in your recovery every step of the way. With access to the beach, gym, cell phones, and interactions with peers and families it is set up to help you recover successfully.

Changing tides truly changed my life. I learned so much about myself and who I could truly be with sobriety. I loved that we were right on the beach and still had a bit of freedom, which made transitioning back to life at home more easy. The majority of employees there are all in recovery as well which made them more relatable and easy to talk to. I came in an anxious mess and left with joy and excitement about the future. The assignments we did in group really helped me take a look at myself and prepare for the future. I still will read some of those assignments today to help remind me of why I am sober! I ve been sober for almost a year now and I couldn t have done it without changing tides.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Changing Tides helped me so much in finding my way to a clean and sober life.Providing caring staff, plus a safe environment for me to become open to hearing and understanding my disease of alcoholism and addiction. The staff are amazing people who actually care about each client. That was very important to me. I ve been to other treatment centers and I could tell the staff was there just for a paycheck. The staff treated me like a human being. They cared for me when I didn t know how to care for myself.I also liked that I didn t feel like a prisoner. I was free to walk the property and to the beach. The staff also took us to local A.A. and N.A. meetings to see and hear the message of recovery from people who actually staying clean and sober. The rooms were very nice and I was allowed to order my own groceries and cook my own food. Which was freaking awesome lol because from my experience other places do not serve the best foods. There s also a gym, basketball, pool and patio area where clients can grill and converse with each other by the pool. Now for my favorite thing was the beach access directly across the facility. It was a great place for me to watch the sunrise and meditate.Changing Tides is special. I stayed three terms and I m still clean and sober today!

After my life completely falling into dissaray and missing out on more than half of every week due to being blackout drunk I decided I needed help. Went here for 28 days and after 9 years I'm sober going on two months and feel good and positive. The staff were amazing and very helpful always willing to listen to you and give you advice and pointers. The assignments really make you dig deep down into why you turned to drugs or alcohol and help you realize why if you didn't know and help you deal with them more appropriately. If you truly want help this is an amazing place to go

Changing Tides truly changed my life. Having struggled with sobriety for almost two decades and unable to control my addiction and relapsing after trying other rehab programs I was looking for an alternative to traditional addiction treatment programs and I found that with Changing Tides. From day one the staff was supportive, informative and kind. From the owners to the counselors to peer support leaders everyone was an active part of my sobriety journey everyday. I owe Changing Tides my life and am clean and sober today because of the amazing people, program and work done there.

Changing tides reviewAt 35 I found myself staying in a motel with all of my belongings, in a sort of limbo- not wanting to live, not wanting to die, and severely dependent on chemicals. I had burned just about every bridge possible, and was just about out of grace from my family, but they were willing to help me get into one last treatment center. I chose changing tides because I had heard good things about it from a friend. (Being close to the beach and being able to keep my phone were also reasons). When I first got to changing tides, clients told me that they give you enough rope to hang yourself . And there was an occasion or two where I was tempted, but I knew how much was at stake and was not going to give in that easily. During my stay, I was able to go for walks on the beach between groups to reflect and clear my head. I met once a week with my therapist, Brett, who is an absolute expert in his field. He has the educational degrees, but more importantly has lived the struggle of alcohol and drug addiction. I have talked to countless therapists and counselors in my lifetime, and I learned more about myself thru my sessions with Brett than all of them combined. The group sessions are intense at first, but force you and your peers to interact and become vulnerable, and I ended up forming bonds with people I never thought possible. When my two terms ended, I was nervous to leave, but the transition was easier than I thought it would be. I took their suggestions, and did 90 meetings in 90 days. I found an AA group that I liked and made it my homegroup and I treat it the same way I treated group at changing tides. Prior to treatment I never felt comfortable in AA, but today I can truly say that I m a proud member of AA and I look forward to meetings. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for Brett, Aubrey, and the staff at changing tides- they literally saved my life!!
