Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

My psychiatrist is wonderful. However I came here for intensive behavioral therapy. I was paired with an intern. Doing ABC therapy. It's so tough when you come out of inpatient with the promise that this place has complex therapy but all it has is "tell me about your day" "what else is bothering you" and no real therapy. So frustrating. Also the scheduling staff sucks. Really rude, you ask to change a therapist they send you to an answering machine. You have work and can't make an appointment? They make you start from the beginning (as in do an intake all over again) and *see* if you can get in with a therapist. Just terrible. I was without medication I asked to speak to my psychiatrist and I got sent to - you guessed it - an answering machine.

A group of disorganized case managers are usually not capable of calling themselves a behavioral healthcare agency. Their case is different. They do just enough to bypass the system, yet while pushing the best interest of their clients to the bottom of the barrel.

This place does not care about your mental health only wants to bill your insurance to get money. I will be looking for better services elsewhere. If you value yourself you will not come to this place

I was a patient there for years. Dr Sierra was kind, understanding , gave me the medication I needed. She was my doctor for two years. She resigned. I got a new doctor and cut me off the meds I was using for two years. Much to my dismay, I complained to the office staff . They acted like I had a substance abuse problem, I never had. Cutting me off the medication cold turkey, I had a stroke. Central Behavioral on Dekalb street do prescribe adults with ADD stimulants. Even people with substance abuse problems who go to the methadone clinic. The staff in the front were rude. The only positive experience was an employment coach named Lamont. He found me wonderful jobs. I should ve sued this horrible place. They treat their patients like junkies and slow, like their patients are beneath them

Deplorable. I'm a single, full-time dad with two teen daughters. After months of requesting my daughter's medical records from first julie holcomb, then jodie davis, then katie walsh, and finally valerie o'conner (apparently the president/CEO), I received only promises and then radio silence. I made my first request in June 2023. I still have not seen a single document. No one should have to spend months chasing down medical records.

For the staff, 5 stars. Everyone was absolutely sweet and helpful! For the doctor, a definite one star. Dr Oyiriaru was absolutely rude and condescending after being 10 minutes later to a virtual appointment with zero communication. Barely engaged and seemed like it was a daunting task to even speak with me. Spoke down to me during the 15 minute visit. I highly recommend that at the very least, everyone avoid this doctor like the plague. I ve had bad psychiatrists before who at least pretended to make an attempt at helping, but Dr. Oyiriaru is a gigantic waste of time.

I have been a patient here for about two years. The psychiatrist I had was truly horrific. She was super rude, would raise her voice and yell for no reason and always gave me so much anxiety when I had to talk to her and I saw her via telehealth. She once told me I was trying to self medicate because I was trying to find another psychiatrist to help me while I was still with her because they never answer the phone and there has been multiple times where I ran out of medication because they wouldn t answer which meant I couldn t reschedule an appointment. I also tried to change my psychiatrist and still stay with them and it just never happened. They made me fill out forms and everything but just haven t gotten back to me still. I m still in the process of finding a new psychiatrist so I can no longer deal with this. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I hope they read these reviews and change.

The people there don't genuinely care about your well being. They just want your money.

Just be sure that you understand that the help you will receive will be agenda based. CBH offers help that they think will benefit you. Your input, situation, finances, and other needs will be ignored to fulfill the agenda.

Dr. Davis accused me of dictating what he should give me. That was completely out of line. Instead, he should have had a conversation with me and maybe, I don t know, LISTEN to the person who actually has the mental illness. All I did was suggest two medicines that I know have worked in the past. He jumped down my throat like I m some pill seeking junky. And then told me to get a new doctor. Who does that?!?! So unprofessional.
