Accepted Insurance

Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs offer community-based addiction treatment, enabling clients to remain in their homes while in recovery. Their levels of care typically include partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), standard outpatient, and sober living programming. Most outpatient facilities offer addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative programs include evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation, music therapy, and massage. Facilities specializing in alcohol and/or opioid addiction may also provide medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients who are in early recovery, leaving detox, or experiencing a crisis often require the intensive treatment of an inpatient rehab facility. Clients in inpatient care receive robust clinical supervision, housing, and meals, allowing them to focus exclusively on their recovery while they stabilize. The primary treatment modalities used in most inpatient centers include extensive addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Many drug rehabs also offer holistic therapies, such as music, art, fitness, and experiential therapies.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you understand and manage the emotional and physical responses that often follow witnessing or experiencing traumatic events. Using therapeutic interventions, your therapist works with you to reframe that experience, which in turn reduces your anxiety and helps you regain control over your life.

I was recently discharged from Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital with the wrong diagnosis. The stupid, if not also malevolent, psychiatrist, diagnosed me with "dementia" when I was suffering with a urinary tract infection (UTI). I have had UTI infections before, and I know when I need help for a that disease. And this malevolent doctor notified the DMV, to have my driver s license revoked, claiming my medical condition--ie "Dementia" made me a danger to others and to myself. I was also required to pay $5,000 to buy my release, which paid for 24/7 sitters to be with me in my home. On release, I immediately went to my primary care doctor, who tested my urine and immediately sent a prescription to my pharmacist, for a cycle of medication to cure my UTI. I m sure Central Virginia Baptist would like to know if I have hired an attorney. And I assure them that No, I have not hired an attorney; I AM an attorney, and my current recent research suggests that it is very common for UTI infections to be mistaken for "dementia" if the urine is not tested. I will hire an attorney for take care of the "damages" portion of my case. I had asked that psyche-defective MD to do the UTI test and he refused, and then a message reached me claiming that staff tried to find me to give me the test, but I had already been discharged. Now I have to see a Neurologist to establish my mental capacity and then take a driving test especially approved and licensed by DMV, to assess my driving capability. This malevolent treatment and false diagnosis by Centra Virginia Baptist PsyCh has cost me thousands of dollars, and has been stressful beyond words. Now I receive a letter from Kimberly S Price, RN, DNP, MBA, Vice President of Patient Experience, who says she will investigate. Meanwhile, this is costing me thousands of dollars, and the extreme stress of being unable to take care of my household responsibilities continues because I am not allowed to drive. If this is not taken care of immediately, with retrieval of my medical treatment for that UTI from my primary care doctor, , this is going to be a very costly amusement for Centra Virginia Baptist, and maybe a lesson that their psychiatrist should be put into therapy, himself, or terminated.Barbara Hudson, PhD., J.D.

I had my baby there in April. Most nurses and doctors did a great job listening to me and helping us be safe during the whole process. However, this is NOT a baby friendly hospital as they claim to be when you walk into the birth center. There was NO help given to initiate breastfeeding within the first 30min-hour. I was not seen by a lactation consultant, just thrown a pump with some pump pieces (my baby was in the NICU) by a nurse and left alone with no help. If this had been my first baby I don't know if I could have brought my milk in by myself. The NICU is certainly NOT baby friendly. They will immediately give your child formula without even telling you or getting your consent, even if they have pumped milk. I was told they "tried to give my milk after the formula" as if that mattered when the baby's stomach is the size of a couple teaspoons, he wouldn't drink any of it now the he was full of formula. The NICU did not encourage any skin to skin or holding baby at all, even though some nurses allowed me to hold him and others did not. They did not update me on feeding or notify me to come try feeding him. Having birthed my first two at a REAL baby friendly hospital in Oregon, this was a complete joke. Just take down the "baby friendly" sign and put it back up when you actually fund the services and implement real policies for breastfeeding that you claim you have. I was able to successfully breastfeed despite this hospital, not thanks to it.

They are responsible for my daughter being permanently and terminally disabled. Do not have a baby here if you don't want them to possibly die or have a life of pain.

Had my son born here less than a week ago! I was extremely impressed with our nurses and our doctors! We had a few nurses all professional, but nurse Tammy was by far all of our favorite. Very knowledgeable, energetic, and friendly.Dr. Dixon and her medical student were amazing as well. Made baby delivering an easy process. Will choose this place for my next baby. Our nurses afterwards were very good too, would help feed, bathe, etc. which game me and my girlfriend time to get some rest.

I went to this place when I was 17 years old for psychiatric help with suicidal thoughts and ideation, the nurses and counselors were terrible and rude. I was literally told that by counselors that they were not their to help me and that I was lying about needed help. I was treated like a violent terrorist under watch and interrogation the entire time. I was even told that the bullying that I had suffered in school was ok and kids were just being kids and I was not being tough enough about it, then when I disagreed they said the bullying was my fault, I was even blamed for teachers being rude to me and told it was my fault. I was recently hospitalized here in the Adult psychiatric unit and it was a lot better.

Just had a baby here in 2024. Staff was excellent. Everyone cared about the outcome and really took care of my wife and child throughout the process. I only took a star away for the rooms being outdated and the food being very basic.

Dr Webber at the surgical center is a arrogant azz. He don't care about his patience post surgery.
