About Catalyst Life Services – The Center

Catalyst Life Services - The Center Adult Mental Health and Crisis Services is located in Mansfield, Ohio. They specialize in outpatient care for adults who have drug and alcohol addictions. They’re also a crisis center in case a client is suffering an emergency related to an underlying mental or behavioral health disorder.

The first thing you’ll experience at The Center is an evaluation. This means a case management team will look over your mental health history to gauge your addictions. You might be eligible for individual, group, and family counseling. There’s also educational workshops to help you work your way toward recovery.

The outpatient program consists of three hours of therapy per session for three days each week. You’ll meet with an assigned counselor and receive individual and peer support. You might also be eligible for medication assisted treatment to ward off withdrawal pains. If you’re enrolled in an AA program, you’ll continue that program in your local community. Some life skills training is also available, like career coaching.

The Center does not offer detox or residential services. However, they do treat emergency cases of if you’ve suffered a crisis, like a heavy relapse. Otherwise, if you need detox, you can be referred to another facility in the Catalyst network. Medicaid is accepted throughout the network as well.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. The Catalyst Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides adults, age 18 and older, voluntary admission to a supervised, short-term residential-type setting. The unit offers clients a protective and supportive environment to stabilize and resolve crises.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Provides the opportunity for clients in need of structured programming to participate in groups and self-help groups, learn new behaviors and practice relapse prevention strategies such as drug/alcohol refusal skills, open communication, and stress reduction techniques while continuing to live at home.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I took my 18 year old son here to resume services that he was receiving through children's behavioral. I was told that they would have no problem continuing his medication. Lies...Now I am last min trying to find him a new dr. The services at catalyst are misleading. I don't recommend this place at all! What a complete waste of time that we do not have.

An addictive pill pushing scam that skips counseling and doses the kids. Recommended by schools n parents that don't want to be bothered. After dosing the kids on heavy duty addictive garbage they ghost. Idk how this place is still in business. Disgusting excuses for humans let alone drs or therapists. How do they live w themselves. Please pass this info along. U nvr know when someone might need it to save a kid.

I have had a great experience Dr Swarn has helped to save my life. She has helped guide me out of depression the last 2 years. I am alive thanks to Catalyst and Dr Swarn.

My son has went here in the past and tried to get back in for his mental health medication. I was called today with an appointment time to only be called back in 5 mins to cancel the appt stating they can't help him because they don't take Medicare insurance. Although their site says otherwise of course. So if you are struggling with depression, I wouldn't recommend this place. Obviously this community health facility isn't looking out for it's community.

I went for an assessment and never heard back from them. Apparently they aren't into helping everyone. I called and can't get a call back. Thanks

First visit, the intake worker for pediatric psychiatry, called CPS and told them an outright lie about my family. He made an already stressful situation feel much worse. They're great.

They don't call you back. I've been calling for weeks. They transfer you all over, and apparently the only people who can schedule appointments are the nurses. The same nurses who are busy with in-patient work such as weight, BP, etc. It's a mess.

Is this all there is for Mental Health in Richland County? I hate this place SO much that I've remained sober because I promised myself I'd NEVER walk through any door of Catalyst again after being a patient from 16 years old to 32. This place used to be ok, but now it is a nightmare. Police are there a lot too. Thank God that they finally have youths in a separate building than adults and Dr. Swarn is no longer there pushing Adderall and xanax on people.
