This was recommended to us by a therapist and I was nervous reading recent reviews. I am glad we went because after 7 years of falling in the cracks of the mental health system our family member finally got an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan that is starting to work. This has literally been life altering not only for the patient but the family who has been missing their loved one. They saw us quickly, immediate intake and then after 10 days outpatient. Everyone that works there from reception to the nurses to the therapist and business office was empathetic, professional and helpful. Difficult to get through by phone but they called regularly with updates. If your loved one goes to inpatient it is easier if they call you (versus you trying to call in). HIGHLY recommend this place!!!!! Thank you staff at Carrollton Springs for your help!

For the love of God, avoid this place. With all the negative reviews, there should be a class action lawsuit against this facility. I am deeply concerned about the treatment my husband has received at this facility during his detoxification process. Despite the urgent need for proper care, he has been primarily sedated with benzodiazepines and barbiturates without adequate electrolyte support or nutritional intake, which is essential for his recovery. I am disappointed by the lack of appropriate medical attention provided and the failure to conduct essential tests to ensure his well-being.I will be taking the necessary steps to have insurance deny the claim and will not be responsible for any associated costs. I strongly advise others to carefully consider their options and seek alternative treatment facilities that prioritize comprehensive and effective care for their loved ones in similar situations. It is distressing to see my husband's health deteriorate in just three days under this inadequate care, and I am deeply troubled by the facility's actions in holding him without a court order. This situation is unacceptable and I am committed to taking the appropriate actions to address this issue. After speaking with my attorney Carrollton Springs has no legal right to keep someone that is not under a court order and I will be taking legal action.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
IOP seeks to maintain treatment benefits in a structured manner. Continuity of care is observed with an emphasis on continued reintegration into community functioning. Patients typically spend 15 hours per week in various therapy and educational groups. IOP provides a step-down approach from the PHP program and serves as a bridge to more traditional, less intensive outpatient care.
inpatient iconInpatient
In the Inpatient Program, patients receive detailed clinical and medical assessments, psychiatric stabilization, and rehabilitation care. This program offers the advantages of a controlled, structured environment with 24-hour nursing care and intensive treatment not available on an outpatient basis. It may include up to 10 hours per day of programming. During treatment, each patient connects with a treatment team, including a physician, nurse, primary therapist and recreational therapist.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Carrollton Springs also offers a weekly support group for alumni of their Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient Programs. The group meets once a week for one hour. The purpose of the alumni group is to provide a forum for alumni to meet together and provide ongoing support to each other.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Families have the opportunity to participate in education and support groups to increase their understanding of addiction and mental illness. This process helps them learn about themselves and their roles and responsibilities in the recovery process. With this important information in hand, the family has a greater opportunity to reunite and start interacting in a more helpful and healthy manner.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The Dietary program at Carrollton Springs is carefully planned to provide food that meets the recommended dietary requirements. Well-balanced meals are served in a cafeteria style setting. A Registered Dietitian will provide consultation as needed in planning regular and special diets. Snacks and drinks are available on the unit.

INSURANCE FRAUD - NEGLIGENCE- MALPRACTICE - LIES. I will be having a lawyer handle this experience. My name is Kyle, just in case there is any doubt who this review is coming from.Where do i begin. I came to carrolton springs to ask basic questions about what it entailed because i kept having vasovagal syncope episodes at my apartment and gym. I had gone to a hospital ER nearby and they didn't understand my condition apparently either. I was coerced into going behind doors to have a lady answer my basic questions - "Details, can i bring laptop, is it per night, what kind of medical care would i get etc" They turned it into a consult, and recommended "IN PATIENT " I was like, "what the hell? no, i am moving tomorrow" They said i had to stay for 24 hours, but could leave. That was a blatant LIE. IF YOU HAVE GOOD INSURANCE THEY WILL DO THIS SAME THING TO YOU. DO NOT GO BEHIND THOSE DOORS UNLESS YOU GET YOUR ANSWERS. Other people in there would get back there but have bad insurance and they would tell them they could leave - thus proving the scam. Many employees say they have seen this over and over and are sick of it. I would have syncope episodes there, a few times in the cafeteria, i would have gastritis and bleeding from my stomach even the first few days - I have candida, gut health issues, gastroperesis, all vagal nerve conditions and dysautonomia which is well documented the last 3 years. The psychiatrist gave me a diagnosis without ever even talking to him about it, in court he lied and said "he(me) couldn't explain his condition really" and said it was psychological psychosomatic, which is total horsecrap - i know it backwards and forwards and the symptoms mentioned are not "in my head". They lied in court when i saw the judge to get out of there and said i tried to kill myself 10 times, also a lie. they denied me simple necessities such as Vitamin B1 which i am chronically low in due to my nervous system issue. They took away my supplements the day before the court hearing "magically" so they could say i only slept one hour that night. The night nurse Brittany is a total nut job with no empathy or compassion. straight out of a movie. Then after the lies they gave in court they had my supplements ready within 30 minutes after. Jewel the nurse doesn't care one bit about the patient, many times blocking me from getting any help, ignoring me blatantly. I asked to see the medical doctor there 11 straight days - never got to see him the whole 11 days other than the first day which he screwed up my supplements on. I asked under my rights 4 times to go to the ER to get medical care, because i needed salt to stop my vagal episodes, and they wouldn't give me any. COMPLETELY neglected me physically. They tried to get me to take drugs for depression nd anxiety , which i never took once - and OH what do you know - i had no anxiety or depression and they released me without taking any the entire time. I threatened to sue for malpractice and negligence of the patient when i got in there, and they just did what they had to do to keep me there and make it seem like i had anxiety and depression so they could defend themselves. I literally and traumatized by the care i got there. it was a DISASTER. Terrible communication, and blatantly ignoring my issues. Everyday they ask me about physical pain, and i tell them gastritis, but no one did anything. then they almost had my family thinking this was all psychoscematic or in my head. I had an absolute nightmare there other than the social connections made there to help me get through it. This place probably does help people with their mental issues, however, in the process they screw people over like this over and over. it was a common occurrence from what i saw.I was told in a court hearing that everything i was dealing with was in my head and psychosomatic. Ive now been diagnosed with Lyme disease. You SICK FUCKS

I "voluntarily" admitted myself here after a suicide attempt from Texas Health Hospital Rockwall, this was after 12 years of no prior attempts, discontinued self harm in 2019, my mental health has been declining the past few years with it being particularly worse the past few months from loss that caused grief that I've struggled to recover from. I tried finding a therapist and whenever I would find one I liked they wouldn't be accepting new patients because it's not like mental health problems are rare or new. I quickly came out of my crisis, was not even still in crisis at the hospital and that was well documented, I knew what I did was stupid and regretted it, was no longer a threat to myself or others, yet was still held here against my will.I was told at the hospital that I would only be staying 3-5 days, that was a lie, my group therapist told my husband who then told me it would be 10 days minimum for me and it's average 7-10 days, the only person I saw get out earlier was because he wasn't planning on staying that long and his stay went past his bill payments which included his health insurance, so as soon as they weren't getting money from him they discharged him. The only other way you can get out is if you lawyer up, they will threaten to get a judge/court order to say you have to stay there. Oh and the real kicker is literally the only thing you do here is sit and wait around for food and group therapy 2x a day, that's the only thing that matters anyways. You also get smoke breaks if you smoke, and they have group exercise and an activity like art or a game, but really, it's just waiting around for therapy, for $1,000 a day. Ya'll just go see a therapist I am so for real. They extort you way less, I promise, unless you're into that sort of thing, I won't judge. There were people here admitted for ridiculous things like having had a seizure and their family freaked out, they had a bad medication interaction that made them blackout and the paramedics thought they were overdosing, people had self admitted themselves for feeling poorly not even having suicidal ideation or thoughts of self harm but were still threatened with a court order and required to stay 10 days.Their outpatient program is even ridiculous, if memory serves right they were saying you would come to the facility and just hang out for 4 hrs a day totaling 20 hrs a week. I guess I can see it being helpful for some people but the people in our ward I would not consider being that bad, especially when there were quite a few there that didn't even have psychiatric problems. I even asked the presenter if he would recommend their program for every single person in the room and he said yes, then when the woman next to me explained her situation, that she was admitted for a seizure situation not a mental health issue, he still tried to sell it to her, and then I was just angry and done with the whole facility. They really do only want your money here. There are other things that happened here that are just disgusting and egregious that I'm not going to say publicly for fear that I might even get sued, it's that bad, but I will absolutely be reporting it to the authorities.I will say the few good things is the facility itself is not horrible like it's not dilapidated and in need of repair, it is well maintained, clean, the beds are thin and hard but I have a spinal injury and shockingly I was able to sleep here without the beds aggravating it. The food is decent, I had issues with anything pork related as it often had a lot of fat, I still ate it all because I didn't want to be held longer for being a picky eater, but the food is not like inedible slop or anything like that it is rather good. Patients will still complain about it because it's the little entertainment we get here though. Most of all I loved our group therapist Steven, I am knowledgeable in psychology and he very much knows what he is doing, is very good at his job and very professional, I hope he is being paid well because he deserves it!

Carrollton Springs PHP outpatient is an absolutely amazing program. They are very flexible & knowledgeable -the PHP therapist, front office, nurse, and psychiatrist are exceptional. It made such a difference to not be in a hospital environment. Daily check ins with core focus CBT and some DBT lessons. (Including fun activities ex art, yoga, music therapy). They provide many resources to prepare for after discharge

You do not want to go to this place!!! My 18 year old grandson & also a senior in high school was admitted to this facility because he had thought of suicide and a possible plan. He is ADHD and has a lot of anxiety & depression. He is seeing a doctor & was in counseling until he aged out & was just trying to get into some more counseling & was sent to this place. They took him without clothes & necessities, 2 1/2 hours from home. He was allowed 10 min phone calls, but my daughter called, left messages numerous times & nobody ever called her back. Someone finally called her that had been on vacation 2 days before they released him to tell her he had to go to court to be released. DON'T GO HERE!!!

After 20+ phone calls and about 10 voicemails, two emails to the facility, and a complaint with an operator that told me she d get my note to someone. I never ONCE got a call back. We never got a specific time, no one would call my sister back who was on the HIPAA, everytime an operator transfers you to someone it goes straight to voicemail. This place is extremely embarrassing and unprofessional. I m sure all of the previous reviews say enough. Do not waste your time. Find somewhere better that cares about their patients and can atleast answer a call/voicemail/email!! Wish I could give 0 stars.

PLEASE DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. THEY WILL HOLD YOU AGAINST YOUR WILL.THEY WILL LIE and say it's voluntary. It's a very triggering experience. DO NOT GET FOOLED!!!After reading the other reviews. This place needs to be investigated for criminally harming people.I also encourage all who have experienced this... to report it to all State agencies that will listen. And to get an attorney.

If you care about your loved ones steer clear. My brother is suicidal extremely depressed and an alcoholic. We drove him here from Florida so we could get him help closer to us. We were told that no matter what time we arrived he would be able to be easily processed and taken back to his own room. When we showed up my brother who is completely incapable of filling out paperwork is then asked to fill out nine different sheets of paperwork. Then we were told there is no assessment room available at the time and to please take a seat in the lobby. An hour and a half later still no assessment room and multiple people filling up the lobby. My brother has now chosen to not get help and left the facility and I do not believe he will be able to be convinced to go back again. Please if you care about your loved ones do not take them here. My brother's life may not be here tomorrow because of them. I will do everything in my power to prevent anyone from going here.

Honest review of CS.I came in out of desperation to get help with my mental health. I called the hotline and the lady I spoke with was so kind, empathetic and reassuring. She let me know if I was to voluntarily stay I will need to bring a bag and she provided clear instructions on what to bring and what not to bring. Me being overwhelmed I packed half the stuff she told me not to bring. (My items were taken to the property room with my name labeled on it).Fast forward to getting there about an hour later. It was about 3pm 9/24. I arrive and the front desk ppl were nice. They took my vitals and shortly after I was taken to an intake room. I waited about 10 mins for an intake nurse to come in and ask me a bunch of questions about why I m there. I ask her multiple time how long I d need to stay. THIS IS WHERE I WAS LIED TO. She told me I could stay 3-4 days so I agreed to the voluntary admission ( I did not leave CS til 8 days later!). I was also told I would not be in a u it with addicts. She told me metal health was separate from addiction. I waited in that intake room for 4.5 hours! Even in my right mind that unacceptable. Especially when the nurse says she will be back shortly. When someone is going through issues like that, it s NOT okay to just leave them high and dry for 4.5 hours. I got to the point where I turned on the emergency light to have someone come see me. MULTIPLE staff members walked past my room and didn t even bother to ask if I was okay. They just stared in and kept it moving. I had no knowledge of where the bathroom was when I found it it was locked. I m in distress and I couldn t function staying in a small room. I requested the nurse come see me. At 7pm she let me know the intake nurse was on her way to come get me to admit me into the hospital. She assured me it would be no long than 10 mins. That nurse didn t get there till close to 8 pm.The admitting nurse was nice. They took all my belongings but they let me know the process of what will happen to them and why they couldn t stay with me. I got into the Cedar Unit around 9. Dinner had already been served. So I had to opt for chips and cookies. The rooms were clean. You will get a roommate depending on how busy it is. Beds are awful. The unit holds maybe 26 ppl. My roommate was detoxing so she was sick all night for 3 nights. It was impossible to sleep.Cafeteria is clean. Food is not the best. The cafeteria staff are very friendly. Food most likely sits out. Any bread you get will be rock hard. Sandwiches will be hard. They did have some good food depending on the day. Some days it was absolute slop. The psychiatrist Khan completely ignored a lot of my concerns. I didn t want to take meds to feel better but if I didn t I would be able to leave. When I did take them I was sick and couldn t do to group which was a bad look at my participation effort. I felt like he didn t really care about my feelings. Many nurses in the unit but it seemed they didn t know how to do anything but give out meds. Some ppl had serious issues with health and they would ask the patient what to do. Why are you asking her? She doesn t know! A girl experienced 2 seizures and ppl mentioned the staff took too long to respond.Group therapy with Olivia was great. She was a good person. She handled request well and always followed up with me did I needed something.Getting I touch with your loved ones here can be difficult unless you have the correct phone number that will ring the phone in their unit. The nurses and techs were respectful in most cases. Amyrra, Alesha, Charles, & more were very good to me during my stay.I did learn a lot. I do appreciate the opportunity for getting the help I needed. However this is not a place I would like to return.
