About Carrollton Springs

Carrollton Springs treats adults aged 18 and older fighting addiction and co occurring disorders. This Carrollton, Texas, behavioral health facility incorporates proven and holistic approaches to encourage sustained recovery. You’ll benefit from detox, inpatient rehab, and several outpatient programs to fit your unique needs.

Each program offers various services to help you reach sobriety. You can participate in therapy, skill building, family sessions, peer support groups, and educational programs. Along with proven interventions, they have holistic treatments. You can find inner healing with yoga, meditation, wellness education, and recreational activities.

Their specialized programs make this program stand out to me. Their tailored programs are for Veterans, active duty military, first responders, high risk frontline professionals, and their families. You’ll dive deep into the unique challenges these populations experience. Medication management and PTSD treatment are available.

They also have a faith based track. This program incorporates Christian counseling into each level of care. Faith can be an essential part of recovery for many. Incorporating a religious viewpoint can help you feel motivated and find meaning in treatment. You’ll still have access to expert backed approaches, like solution focused, cognitive behavioral, and rational emotive behavior therapy. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to connect with peers in recovery, share your story, and encourage each other throughout your journeys.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

IOP seeks to maintain treatment benefits in a structured manner. Continuity of care is observed with an emphasis on continued reintegration into community functioning. Patients typically spend 15 hours per week in various therapy and educational groups. IOP provides a step-down approach from the PHP program and serves as a bridge to more traditional, less intensive outpatient care.

inpatient iconInpatient

In the Inpatient Program, patients receive detailed clinical and medical assessments, psychiatric stabilization, and rehabilitation care. This program offers the advantages of a controlled, structured environment with 24-hour nursing care and intensive treatment not available on an outpatient basis. It may include up to 10 hours per day of programming. During treatment, each patient connects with a treatment team, including a physician, nurse, primary therapist and recreational therapist.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Carrollton Springs also offers a weekly support group for alumni of their Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient Programs. The group meets once a week for one hour. The purpose of the alumni group is to provide a forum for alumni to meet together and provide ongoing support to each other.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

animal-therapy iconAnimal Therapy

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

family iconFamily Therapy

Families have the opportunity to participate in education and support groups to increase their understanding of addiction and mental illness. This process helps them learn about themselves and their roles and responsibilities in the recovery process. With this important information in hand, the family has a greater opportunity to reunite and start interacting in a more helpful and healthy manner.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition Therapy

The Dietary program at Carrollton Springs is carefully planned to provide food that meets the recommended dietary requirements. Well-balanced meals are served in a cafeteria style setting. A Registered Dietitian will provide consultation as needed in planning regular and special diets. Snacks and drinks are available on the unit.

My experience at Carrollton Springs is mixed. The clinician for the PHP program was exceptional (Daniel), however, once they get what they want from you (i.e. money from you as well as from your insurance provider), they no longer are helpful and responsive. I have left mult ... Read More

I was an outpatient at Carrollton Springs. On Friday , Sept. 23rd I arrived for my therapy and suffered a panic attack. I suffer from depression and PTSD. When I tried to leave the facility, And attempted to pull the unlocked door open the staff on the other side of the door were pushing me and locking me inside. It triggered me and I was in such distress i cut the top of my arm with a colored pencil. They then moved me to an inpatient wing. When I would not sign paperwork admitting myself I was told the longer I resisted the longer I would be locked up. They assaulted me and caused me injury, refused my pleas to make a phone call or to call the police and instead left me alone in an unfamiliar impatient hallway with no windows. After 2-3 hours I began checking doors and was able to find a door unlocked. I breached and escaped their highly secure mental hospital and the Plano police took me to a ER in plano. Earlier in the week, I described an incident when I was a child and being locked or trapped in a room. Please do not send your loved ones to this facility as they do not care about patients but rather money. I am seeking legal action as they are refusing to release the video from the time I entered voluntarily until the time I escaped. The Carrollton police had tried to contact them and received no answer. This is not only illegal but inhumane. This should never ever happen to anyone again. Please read all reviews and do not send any loved ones to this facility for help. They will take it seriously when Texas health and human services investigates as wellas ADA and my Attorney will be in co it s them next week.

The lady that accessment was not professional. She was constantly looking at her watch. She made my boyfriend feel like she wasn't concerned about his crisis. Then I had to take him to another hospital. Where he is now hospitalized.

Haven't been to the actual facility, but was interested in seeking more informationregarding services offered. After speaking with a representative it seems like they are really only looking to help INSURED drug addicts.... I am guessing this is more a private owned substance abuse rehab clinic....Not a mental health facility

Absolutely the worst place you can go. If I could give this negative stars I would. The lack of communication is just unacceptable. They claim they have a team 24/7 but yet when you request to speak to someone they have no one here. Seems odd in my opinion. Also seems like they are running an insurance scam to keep people here longer than needed. I will absolutely be filing a complaint with the state. The way they do business here is a disgrace to the medical field.

Lake, a therapist here, is absolutely amazing. She also does chair yoga for patients once a week. For the first time in 43 years, she taught me how to silence my mind, open my heart vessel, and love myself. Silver Unit is the best with the best techs. Dr. Minhas is also amazing. I highly recommend, if you are feeling burnout, depression, anxiety, anything more or less, that you CHECK YOURSELF IN. The minimum stay is 7 days and totally worth it if you work the groups. It is a nice insurance paid vacation just to let your mind breathe and your emotions recoup how they should. Keep in mind though that this IS a mental hospital so you will experience the turmoil and tragedies of others. It is not always a quiet place. Please, be a compassionate human while you are there. You DO get 4 smoke breaks a day if you bring UNOPENED packs of cigs, or sometimes they have community cigs available.Kueenie is one of the main cooks and she and New York throw down on the food! It's soulful and full of spice just like they are.Ms. Shirley (tech), Tara (tech), Ms. Nicole (tech), Tim (tech), Scott (intake team), Charles (worlds driest humor and cool AF nurse), Javi (intake team), Coach (tech), Adrian (tech), Lake (therapist), Tani (therapist), Shannon (LCSW) Minhas (psychiatrist), Erica (night tech), Ms. Cassandra (intake team), Jessica (housekeeping and PLEASE give her a round of applause!?), Tris (discharge planner), Homer (discharge planner), and if I forgot to mention any other staff, I apologize, but these stuck out the most and helped me so freakin' much! Especially TRIS*, NICOLE, LAKE*, TANI, SHANNON*, MINHAS, JAVI, CASSANDRA. I owe these humans everything

It's with profound sadness that I share my family's devastating experience that started with Carrollton Springs. My son's journey, which tragically ended on 2/16/24, with the loss of his life did began at this facility. If there is ever a collective legal action against this establishment, please reach out to me. Below recounts the ordeal:My son bravely sought help to detox from alcohol, and we rallied around him as a family, supporting his decision to seek treatment. We went as a family to check him in at Carrollton Springs. As I filled out the paperwork, designating myself as a key contact, I never anticipated the facility would fail to honor that role. Shockingly, despite being listed as a point of contact, I received no communication from them, nor did they respond to my repeated attempts to reach out. My son was under their care from 1/2/24 to 1/6/24. This was NOT a kid in and out of rehab!!During his brief phone calls, my son's distress was palpable as he shared, "Mom, I'm only getting worse. They're just pumping me full of Ativan." Naively, I dismissed his concerns, attributing them to the difficulty of rehabilitation. If only I had listened more closely!!!!Against medical advice, my son left the facility, his jaundiced state a visible sign of his deteriorating health. How could Carrollton Springs overlook such a critical warning sign? His medical records from their facility reveal alarming levels of bilirubin on 1/4/24 (5.1) and 1/6/24 (8.2), yet no action was taken, no calls for assistance were made. Instead, they resorted to threats and revoked his phone privileges when he expressed his desire to leave, echoing the troubling experiences shared in other reviews.Upon leaving, my son sought urgent care at Plano Baylor Hospital, where he was immediately admitted. His condition shocked the medical staff, yet despite their efforts, his liver failure worsened, ultimately leading to kidney failure. Dialysis, a potential lifeline, was cruelly denied due to prejudiced views towards a young alcoholic in desperate need. My son was denied the opportunity to fight for his life.Thankfully, one compassionate doctor at Baylor Dallas recognized the value of my son's life and facilitated his transfer to Houston Methodist. Despite exhaustive efforts and transplant approval, it was too late. My son's fight came to an end.To Carrollton Springs and the negligent physician, Dr. A.K, I implore you to acknowledge your shortcomings. Falsified claims of contact with my son's fiance upon discharge, as documented in his medical records, only serve to underscore this facility negligence. We have the evidence to challenge these falsehoods.Let my son's story serve as a somber reminder to others. The choice of a detox facility is critical, for the consequences of neglect and incompetence are immeasurable.EDIT- Now Carrollton Springs has the audacity to send collections letters to our home!!! They were sent a Death Certificate and called on the first one and they still continue THEN turn it over to G.L.A Collection Company!! Call GOD to get your $$ Original bill $11,127.16 My son's insurance paid $7,735.16, be happy you received THAT!!

If you have issues this would definitely be the last place to have any treatment. The doctors & insurance work hand in hand to generate money for themselves while patients receive less than adequate help,!!!!!!

Carrollton Springs billing is an absolute disaster. Now, 3 years later we are being harassed about a bill. When you call Carrollton Spring business office, they say they have turned it over to a 3rd party and wipe their hands of any responsibility. No one will accept responsibility for the insurance run around we have received. No one can help us. Beware if you plan on filing insurance.

Why did I not check reviews on this place first? We were told they took nine year olds for their day program, went over for the assessment (3.5 hour investment) and after they determined he qualified THEN they told us they don t have room for him and they don t have a program for his age. They are charging our insurance for their determination and any other place will need their own assessment, so it s worthless. Our family is majorly struggling and they are feeding on the vulnerable. How is this not fraud?????

My doctor suggested this place for my brother. But I ve been waiting hours to have him admitted if they really cared about patients they wouldn t leave you sitting in the lobby this long with people that need help people that need help. I m looking for another facility now. The front desk said they were out of beds so I asked am I waiting? they said well they had people in the intake area but they had beds in the back. I was here 8 1/2 hours after my brother s doctor called them, referred me there and they they would admit him almost 1 AM. They said now we just want to work it on outpatient which is not what I wanted. My brother needed or his doctor. Avoid this place if it s mismanaged throughout as the intake processes, you don t want to go there and be lied to.
