This place is awful aside from a handful of sweet nurses.I had a reoccurring issue for over a year to which they just kept saying they didn't know. I had to come so much that a dr literally told me they won't be conducting tests on me any longer. Just giving me morphine and sending me home.March 2024, in a lenor county hospital we find out I have bilateral embolisms due to Mt birth control. I'm 28. I went through all that for over a year when EVERY symptom pointed to my birth control. Lenor county also advised me that I could die at any moment and needed to be admitted immediately. So for over a year everyone passed judgment onto me, suggested i was a drug addict and treated me badly when I could have in fact died at any moment because of their negligence. To the point of after the blood clots were found a dr came and asked me if I have a passed with IV drugs because of all the scar tissue I had. The scar tissue THIS HOSPITAL caused me when they wanted to keep telling nothing was wrong with me.Skip to today, I am pregnant and woke up with severe cramping and bleeding. Naturally I rushed to the hospital. I wasn't greeted by my nurse so I sat for 30 minutes waiting while everyone else in our "pod" was taken care of. (There are four open closet sized rooms in one main room so everyone is looking at each other, can hear each other, and the nurses/Dr.)I asked the nurse who finished helping the patient in front of me, which mind you I know why everyone in this pod is here and their names, who was my nurse. He told me who and then coincidentally 2 minutes later here's my nurse to let me know the PA will be there shortly. She came in about 5 minutes later. Told me I need blood work, swabs, ultrasound and a urine test. The blood, swabs and urine were taken, and the woman was an absolute pleasure.Over an hour passes and I hear nothing, no one checks on me, nothing. My pants are bled through, I'm crying, and everyone in this pod can see the wetness I'm sitting in and hear everything that's going on.I go to them and ask for the charge nurse, to which I still don't know who the charge nurse is and miraculously a nurse reads me off my blood work at the nurses station to let me know it doesn't look like a miscarriage based on blood work. By this point I feel undignified, my pants are bled though and badly (like a massacre), I'm crying and shaking. No one since being here offered me as much as a pad to help. After expressing the state of soiled I am, no one says anything. Doesn't even offer me a gown.I feel embarrassed and even worse because these strangers are looking at me sob in my blood soaked pants and chair.I should NOT be dealing with this. At all. The lack of empathy is disgusting. I should be able to focus on the fact if I had a miscarriage or not. On top of the fact that if this is indeed a miscarriage, I've been forced to sit in my dead babies tissues while I hear people suggesting to other nurses to "watch Old Gregg on youtube." And discuss their ages so they can determine why some wouldn't know what "Old Gregg" is.Finally my NURSE comes in after tests are done to advise me that his opinion is nothing is wrong with my ultrasound.I'm still sitting here in my soiled clothes, cold, and have no answers aside from 'opinions'.This is today's Healthcare system. Truly a failure.I actually think I'm going to seek legal help since I feel repeatedly undignified by this hospital. It's a shame.

I d like to leave feedback as my son was an emergency room patient. We were discharged with an after visit summary and no prescription, no name of the Nurse Practitioner or her signature, did not become a problem until after we needed to pick up our prescription. We were very clear and the staff and NP, typed that our script was to be picked up at Walgreens in Havelock. When I first called the ER, at 12 noon Charlotte mentioned that it may be a computer/system issue. We drove to Walgreens on a 2nd time and again our script was not there. I called at Walgreens and had them submit it again. Which would be the 3rd attempt on their end. I signed up for updates with Walgreens and no text came in saying script was ready nor submitted.I called Carolina East emergency room asked to speak with someone in regards to a script being filled and was put on hold multiple times. Charlotte answered several time, and would pick up saying, hold on a sec, then the call would disconnect after calling several times, at this point the operator, Darlene, Antoine, are all aware of me calling, when I asked Charlotte, to speak to a director or head nurse, I was now speaking to Bob. I made a point and said that the Walgreens closed in 10 min that I really needed help getting this script, and he responds asking me more info and asked if I had anything printed stated the paper I have is supposed to be my script because it says any pharmacy to where I answered no name of a Dr or Nurse Practitioner is stated nor a signature is written, so I assumed it was no a script. He then tell me that he will call Walgreens and call in then script. My husband is at Walgreens at 5:50pm and speaks to the pharmacy and they say no script has populated. I quickly called ER again and Charlotte answers, I tell her that Walgreens doesn t have scripts in, she puts me on hold to ask Bob, and she relays to me that Bob called and left a voicemail. The staff at Walgreens weren t aware of the voicemail. I quickly called my husband to inform him to inform Walgreens to check their voicemail. Thankfully the script was submitted by voicemail. Bob failed to call us back and tell us he left a voicemail for amoxicillin for my sons ear infection. I will not be going to that ER again.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients who are exiting detox or stepping down from intensive inpatient care typically transition directly into outpatient treatment. Outpatient programs are designed to allow clients to either re-enter or remain in their communities while receiving robust, personalized care. Many facilities offer evening, night, or weekend services to accommodate clients' home and work schedules. The most common outpatient treatment modalities include psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often used as a "step-down" option after you've completed a residential or inpatient program, the partial hospitalization program (PHP) typically involves a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for approximately 90 days. Programs offer structured programming that includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. Insurance coverage for PHP treatment varies among insurance providers.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

If you've been smoking for a while, your body has become physically dependent on the addictive substance nicotine. To avoid unpleasant withdrawal as you quit smoking, you can use nicotine replacement therapy in North Carolina. This gives you controlled amounts of nicotine in the form of lozenges, inhalers, sprays, patches, or gum.

What a joke. Unprofessional personal. Better off going to a veterinarian 80 percent smarter then the doctors here! Chest pain went away before any tests where done. 6 hours later still no answers. Incompetent staff.

A big thank you to Christie RN and Amy CNA on 4th floor for the compassionate and professional care she provided to a friend of mine this November. Not only did she listen (which matters more than most realize) She showed a genuine interest in understanding how to work with my friends health condition. She showed patience and kindness while providing excellent care.

Came in tonight with my wife having some re occurring kidney stone issues that other hospitals in the area had dismissed as not that serious and it just didn t sit right with me so we decided to come straight here due to knowing they have in house urology hereLet me just say that we have had the absolute best experience we have ever had in a hospital er. Riley our nurse was the most kind and passionate care giver we ve ever experienced also dr Jones was very caring and diligent in deciding to admit us instead of just sending us home with orders to follow up also we had a gentleman named Ron that was amazing with getting a iv started on my wife who is a exceptionally hard stick we are eternally greatful for every single one of our care givers

Worst Hospital ever. My nephew died during childbirth due to staff not acting on clear signs of him in distress. Fast forward, went in for heart attack symptoms and sat in the waiting room for an hour while the ER was slow. While sitting in a room in excruciating pain, no nurses checked on me to see if they could help make me comfortable. Meanwhile I am laying there listening to them talk about sushi and plans they had for the weekend. These people have zero care for your comfort or health and complete the bare minimum to avoid being sued. If you can, go outside of craven bc you might not check out of this hospital.

I went to Carolina East, because when my tube was stop up and I could not pee. I sat in that waiting room from 3:PM to 8:pm before any one even talk to me. I was in so much pain, I cry the whole time. They would do the vital sign, and not clean the blood pressure cuff for the next person. They just go from one person to the nextwith the same cuff. I point it out to my who took me to the Hospital. My son is an OR nurse at Cape Carteret Hospital.
